  1. The new feature sets the discount column to numeric value by standard. My business uses % and it's incredibly tedious having to type % each time. We can do 10-20 quotes a day with an average of 30 products per quote. So a feature that would allow us to click a button to default to percentage, so when you type a number the % appears (like in old Xero).

  2. When typing a quote, available stock used to show (when you typed a figure in the "quantity" field (if available stock was less than required the open window would turn red) but it doesn't now. It would be great if this feature were also added to invoices (and quotations as before) so that one didn't need to check stock on a different page for each item being invoiced. I note that it shows when typing a credit note, so it must be possible!

  3. The new invoicing/quotes is a terrible downgrade for the price fields. It is incredibly strict with regard to numbers that can be pasted. Generally for prices, we are copy and pasting from a spreadsheet or another database. These will commonly have a comma for thousands and a dollar sign. The new quotes/invoices requires these to be stripped out and numbers entered strictly like this > 1111.00. It's a major annoyance and time waster.

    Thanks everyone, we thoroughly appreciate your feedback on copying & pasting data into quotes and invoices. Our team have made an update to quotes and you'll find it's now possible to paste numbers in with a comma and currency symbol $ / £ / € 👍

    We understand the same functionality is desired in new invoicing too and I'm pleased to let you know the Product team are aware and is something they currently plan to address, but at this stage time frames aren't available as there are a few other pieces of work lined up before. We'll keep you updated here though.

  4. Add notes/description field in Xero Projects.

    Purpose: To have a better record of the Projects. E.g. notes about the quotes that users’ sent to their client/customer.

    Thanks all for your input. We totally understand how this feature could benefit communication among Projects users and allow you to keep important information all in one place.
    Our team is looking into this idea however, they don’t have any dates planned just yet. Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here.
    For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And when there’s movement, we’ll make we come back here and let you all know.

  5. Ability to add 'comment' only lines on invoices that run the full width of all the invoice table boxes.

    Purpose: Users often want to add some comments specifically to a client in the line item.

    Hi everyone, understand the difference between a description only line and what's being asked for in the idea here. 

    This isn't something we have planned at present. 

    We do want to highlight the existing option for anyone interested that could benefit from the option mentioned earlier in the conversation (thanks, Paco) 

    Currently, it is possible to 'description' only lines to an invoice (with no Qty or Price) where you can enter up to 4000 characters worth of detail that could help you signal a note within an invoice to your customer. 

    We will continue to assess ideas in the forum here and let you know if there are any changes surrounding this to share. 

  6. Ability to allow negative stock in Xero.

    Purpose: Users that take orders and receive payments from their contacts before placing inventory can easily do it in Xero.

    Appreciate the feedback and interest through the idea here. Being open this isn't something we have plans for at this stage. Current focus is on new invoicing and improving the experience for our users as we edge closer to the retirement of classic invoicing.

    We'll continue to keep our eyes on all sales flow ideas in the forums here and will let you know if there's any updates to share on this idea. 

  8. open attached files (especially PDFs) in the current window (same as old invoicing), not in a new tab which is automatically happening with new invoicing.
    is frustrating as you now need to go back and forth between tabs if you want to transpose info from the attachment into the invoice.
    Much more user friendly the old way with a resize-able/move-able viewing window within the same tab

    Hi team, keeping things moving along here our team are currently developing the ability to preview an attached file to the side of your invoice, within the same browser window.

  9. In the classic invoicing history, we can see the date and timestamp, this is not available in the new invoicing - see attached screenshots.

    We use this time stamp a lot for trouble shooting - like what time or XPM and what time was the invoice approved. This helps if there is an integration problem or double up, or payment query.

    Hi community, to keep you updated of progress in this space. Our product team recently released an update so you can view more detail in history such as where an issue or due date has changed or total amounts of the invoice have changed and who these were made by. We have more improvements coming for history and notes in new invoicing and will share more as it's made available, here.

  10. Ability to increase unit price field to six decimal places.

  11. The new invoicing email sends a detailed summary of the invoice as part of the email. We would like the option to opt out for this like the old email template. We like to breakdown our invoicing internally for reporting purposes but the client does not need a breakdown of line items, just a total. We use custom invoicing templates so that we dont show line by line breakdown and the new email overrides this. Please do not switch off the old invoicing module until this is fixed. Downloading an invoice and sending it through my emails is time consuming…

  12. I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
    Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
    Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

    Thanks for all the feedback and detail on your needs in the idea here. As you'll see from each others comments there are different points at which businesses would want to be automating this process. Not really a one size fits all approach. 

    As noted in recent comments, we recently made a change for new invoicing flow where (like classic) you can now choose to Send receipt from the payment confirmation that's shown once you apply a payment to an invoice. 

    At this time we don't have plans for automating this flow however we're still attuned to the idea here and will be sure to share if there are any plans made toward this in the future. 

  16. It would be useful to have a cc and bcc field when sending invoices so that either the business owner or another individual could receive a copy of the invoice when it is sent. This functionality is available in QuickBooks.

    Hi everyone, as we continue to develop new invoicing I'm pleased to share that we have a team that are looking into the flow of sending invoice and adding the ability to cc and Bcc as part of this. While we don't have a timeframe as yet I'll be sure to keep you updated of any change for this, here. 

  17. in Recurring invoices, placeholders are essential to accurate and meaningful descriptions. Placeholders seem to currently only offer Week, Month & Year but not ‘Day’ or [DATE] or [TODAY]. (with the usual +/- feature). This would be hugely helpful for recurring daily or weekly invoices or for communicating a relevant billing period on a Monthly invoice (that differs from calendar months or calendar weeks) without having to manually update the date in description of every Repeated invoice. Currently more work is required and ALL repeating invoices need manual intervention before approval whereas if this could be automated Bills could be automatically…

    Hi all 👋 thanks for sharing this idea and contributing your feedback on how it would help save time and reduce delivery errors. This has all been sent to and considered by our product teams.

    I wanted to jump in here to share that this is a feature that our team are looking to develop in Purchase Orders in the long term - there are a few other pieces of work lined up before. We'll shift to Under review and keep you updated of any progress, here.

    In the meantime, one way to make the physical address the default delivery address when creating purchases orders is by using a Custom DOCX branding theme, and either use the relevant merge fields, or even enter the default address in plain text on the template. You might then have a separate ‘normal’ theme if you want some orders to go to the Postal…

  19. It would useful to be able to have an edit function that allows you to change a bill to an invoice and vice versa. As clients tend to confuse these and it takes a lot of steps to copy the information over and delete the mistake.
