Contacts - Show information on one page
The edit contact format has recently been changed and I now have to click through multiple tabs to edit and view contact info. This is much more time consuming. I would like to be able to edit and view all contact info on one page.
Hi all, returning now a few weeks on from our last update, we’re going to move this idea to Delivered! ✅
You'll now find a single page for editing contact details, with the added benefit of using the tab selections on the left panel to go directly to your chosen section on the contacts add/edit page.
Again, thank you for all your comments here - we know this has been a highly anticipated feature for community. Your feedback helps us to continue to shape the future of contacts at Xero.

The editing of Contacts is cumbersome. Please go back to one screen with simple input. You have to click into the address and the 1099 info. This is silly and wastes time.

The Admin response is just them telling us they aren't changing it because they believe the change they have made is the best one even though we are all complaining....guess they know more than us lol

@Paul This clearly shows how Xero deceive their small size users, especially NZ users. There was a complaint regarding reference field issue in batch payment to both countries for many many years and AU Xero has been updated several years ago, but here in NZ, Xero dismissed the complaint with ridiculous excuse as insufficient needs.

Xero needs to engage more actively with the forum users otherwise it seems we're all wasting our time. This is the most highly voted topic and yet there's only one Admin response that is ~ 6 months old.

In other words. your changes are justified with your team and no options to stay with original system no reasoning or no alternative . seems unfair

A lot of scrolling on one screen now replaced by a lot of clicking between screens. Would be nice to think that the addresses have been split out in preparation for multiple delivery addresses being added (ever the optimist).

Yes, the take away from this (and every other idea on this forum) is that Xero couldn't care less about their user base - especially not the ones that take the time of day to give them constructive feedback.

Try about 5 years later for a simple telephone number merge field for contacts when you create a "Purchase order".
You're absolutely right with the "but Xero don't care about their users, just the focus group who arent daily users... "

7 months later and still hate it every time I need to create a new customer...but Xero don't care about their users, just the focus group who arent daily users...
And yet the option to duplicate a customer has never crossed their minds, which is a tool I'm sure most users really need -

I agree Chris - I consider the payment terms of a customer to be in the "Financial details" tab, but for some reason it's in the "sales default" tab. It gets me every time..... EVERY TIME! :-(

I agree that the new system is clunky and not at all user friendly. The previous interface as simple and clear. What's the problem with having to scroll? It's easier than clicking through tabs to find information that is not necessarily where you would expect it to be. Please return to the simple one-page input.

Fully agree that the new format with multiple tabs to enter a customer information is cumbersome and time consuming. You can no longer start to type the sales tax and have it auto fill, clicking though tabs and saving each section takes much longer to enter the information to set up a new contact.
You may have sent to customers for feedback, but I can bet it wasnt sent to even a quarter of those that use the system.

It would be good as well if "Notes" field in the Contacts Page will be shown in the Invoices/Bills page as internal note and not to be shown once Bills/Invoices are generated.

Unfortunately coming from a software background, you create a focus group, and frequently those are too narrow and take a company down a path where they no-longer listen to customers, just the focus groups. They have decided on their customer avatars and many small businesses are no-longer meet those avatars of who they perceive their customers are. They are 'evolving' to a different clientele market as they feel they can not grow much more in the current one, trouble is they have yet to work out that when we change as it no-longer suits we wont be going back to them. Totally agree on MYOB they blew their chance many years ago due to customer support, with Xero it will be not listening to the customer.

This clearly shows the software maker needs to sustain the position where they pretend to be a reliable listener from their clients, to acquire monopolistic market position which gives them the power to ignore users' voice.

Will NEVER go to MYOB as zero customer support but they have a much easier customer data screen and have 21 tabs on their screen vs Xero's 9 and you still have to scroll down on Xero, check it out only 6 fields visible on Xero!
OMG MYOB They even have Credit Limit and Hold function. Took Xero 10+ years to add that.

So if your not going to listen to users, then why have this page. No other software are doing what you are doing with all the white space

It is very clear by all the comments and ideas on this forum that Xero has no interest in customer feedback. They do what they want regardless of how it affects the usability of a program that we are paying for that is meant to be making our lives easier. Looking into a different provider, anyone have any recommendations?

I must say I am also a bit disappointed...I understand this new tab style will enable Xero to grow the platform...but now contact name only has email against their name without the ability to add a phone number. Would love to see separate email address box or tick box specifically for statements to go to as often this is a different email address than the invoices email address. PS. Tabbing is far quicker than scrolling :)
