Just Ask Xero(JAX) - Ability to turn off (after it goes live)

Today, I received an email from Xero, enthusing about the upcoming feature called JAX "Just Ask Xero". Apparently, this is a generative AI assistant.

Once it goes live, I will want to know how to turn it off. I will never use it - if I need help creating an invoice, there's a help file for that, and checking an AI's work takes as long or longer than just doing it myself in the first place - and see no reason to waste processing resources on something I will never use. Ensuring efficient use of processing resources is also critical for people who are using Xero in internet black spots (most of Australia outside metro areas and off national highways) or in times of network congestion.

Hi everyone, thanks again for your feedback. We’re continuing to make changes to JAX, including how it’s controlled in your organisation.

While you can’t remove the JAX icon from your organisation (as JAX is in beta), you can change your users’ permissions to access JAX or opt out. To opt out, open JAX, click on ‘Settings’ then scroll down and select ‘Opt out’.

With the revamp of Xero Product ideas in July, we will no longer accept ideas for the removal of a new feature in Xero. We have provided your feedback to our Product team and will assign this idea to ‘Feedback’.

    Very disappointed Xero has gone down this route at all. I think customers should have had more consultation before JAX was trialled. I don't want it and I resent being pushed it by Xero.

    features like these that I don't want, need or ask for make me reconsider if Xero is even right for me anymore.

    Add-ons are obviously fine and welcomed but leave the core accounting alone and keep it cost effective because it's rapidly becoming expensive and you'll use shite like JAX as a justification.

    Need an option to turn off JAX Globally for all of our clients and team members. Having each of us opt in, in order to opt out, and still having incessant pop ups is not okay.

    Don't want JAX don't need JAX, just concentrate on sorting out the major issues you have created in New Invoicing.

    @Kelly That is an absolute LIE, I did not opt in to JAX and I cannot disable it popping up all over the place. What an absolute farce. Opting out does not make it go away

    You can't fix basic things like invoicing and bills that used to work just fine and dandy still you started tinkering with it, now it's a broke joke.

    This is a lie, JAX was active in our Xero without prior notice, without our approval and We don't have control over the LLM's OR the agreements you have with other service providers. Remove AI from our Xero in full (no option to even chose to opt in or out) nothing to see or to do here.

    Take this JAX rubbish OFF of my UI. I DID NOT ASK FOR IT. I DO NOT WANT AI in my system. I DO NOT AUTHORISE Xero to install AI into account.

    Xero, please give us the ability to completely disable/remove JAX at the organization level. Allowing any user to opt-in for our organization is unacceptable.

    Hey Xero, how about you fix up your "balls up" of a new invoicing system before you put this rubbish in our files.

    Yep, as usual they turn on this before it's been properly tested...expecting us to test it for them for free.

    Its beyond useless, gives incorrect totals for answers that can be found in reports or at a glance on the dashboard.

    Less AI hype and more practical features please.

    Why ask when you can see what a total for invoices that haven't been paid just by looking at the unpaid section on the dashboard then click into it and see the invoices. I wouldn't even ask it to generate an invoice given all the issues with the new invoicing anyway and then you would still have to double check what it's done anyway.
    I just cancel it when it shows up and don't click any option showing.

    This should be an opt-in, not automatically set up.

    Now that it is live we need to know NOW how to turn it off. Better yet, do the right thing and turn it off and let people opt in.

    As with others, I have NOT explicitly consented to data being used to train your generative AI.

    What's happening with this JAX thing? Why do we need to ask permission for human interface but this computer are just automatically allowed into all Xero businesses overnight without the consent of the business and its owners??? WTF???

    I agree as I will never use it either and certainly DO NOT want them using any of my data for it's training purposes either given what some of my clients businesses are.

    YOU DO NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION FOR USING ANY OF MY DATA FOR THIS TRAINING PURPOSE AND I EXPECT TO BE GIVEN THE OPTION TO TURN OFF JAX.

    You've already made new invoicing a nightmare no need to make it even harder than it already is. Not everyone wants to use an AI Assist in their work.
