652 votesHey everyone, we've seen all your votes and comments, and we totally get it – not being able to schedule one-off invoices or pick specific send times is a real pain point. Your feedback makes it clear how much time it costs you and how it can affect your client relationships.
Right now, repeat invoice templates go some way to providing some automation. But we know that's not quite what you're asking for when it comes to those one-off invoices or more precise timing for all your emails.
The good news is, our product team is digging in to the work that'd be needed to develop a solution, and figuring out the best way to make this happen. While we can't give any promises just yet, please know that your feedback is a huge part of this discovery process. Keep those comments and votes coming!
We'll post another update here as soon as we have more news to share.

Account Transactions: Receipts - Send automated 'payment received' e-mail when payment is reconciled
Ability to send an automated 'Payment received with thanks' email to the customer
Purpose: To give a professional image to users’ customers/clients, and save time in a current manual process
360 votesHi all, appreciate and understand the support in being able to automate processes such as communication of payment received with a customer.
Though seemingly simple there are a few complexities that'd need to be accommodated for when considering the solution here - such as behaviour for re-reconciliations (Remove & redo has been used), split transactions or Mark as reconciled is used.
Our product teams in this area are working on building on beautiful experiences throughout Bank Reconciliation, which you'd have have experienced this first with the Reconcile tab and they are now moving through other pages and features in Bank Rec - This'll take some time and with that at the fore-front right now we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans to add an automated email when a transaction line is reconciled.
As we embark work on the Account Transactions tab we'll be able to revisit and review ideas for some improvement, and will keep you updated of any change.

User Role - Invoice Only + View Reports
Ability to assign a user where they can only have Invoice only and view only reports.
Purpose: To make user permission easier to set up, rather than having to upgrade them into Standard. As this will allow a user having access to more confidential reports.
167 votesThanks for the support for this idea from everyone here. We appreciate our customers' needs for more controls in reports access, and being able to safeguard sensitive data while still empowering your team with the information they need.
The good news is reporting is one of the primary areas that we’re looking to develop, and we’re working on a solution that’ll give you more flexibility within the Invoice only role by providing access to Sales & Purchases reports.
As we continue to make headway with this, we’ll be back to share more updates with you all.

User Role - Allow users access to specific reports
Ability to only allow some users to access specific reports.
Purpose: Because in some organisation, only some people can only see the information for some reports.
295 votesHi everyone, we appreciate all the valuable feedback we’ve received from everyone on this idea and through research our team has conducted.
We’ve taken this all into serious consideration as we plan improvements for the large scope of roles that we know are critical to our customers being able to effectively run their businesses with Xero.
We totally get the need for more granular roles and control within reports, and understand the need to safeguard sensitive data while still empowering your team and clients with the information they require.
Although not accessible within Xero, there are some role capabilities through Syft Analytics as an additional offering where a Xero organisation can connect to Syft.
We want you to know that reporting is one of the primary areas that we’re looking to develop, and are working on a solution that’ll give you more flexibility and control over what reports your users have access to within an org.
As work progresses we’ll be happy to return with more solid updates for you all here.

Organisation setting - Ability to hide/delete the demo company
Option to hide or delete the demo company in Xero.
Purpose: Often a demo company creates confusion for users, so it’s better if they can hide/delete it.
293 votesHi everyone, the demo company provides the ability to test and trial Xero features without impacting data in your live organisation. It's especially useful when you're getting started with the product or want to see how a feature works that you haven't used before.
That said, we understand not all our customers want or need access to the demo company. We appreciate your feedback on being able to hide or remove this here, and our product team are aware of the interest and feedback surrounding this - Both from this direct thread and the previous commentary and votes from the older forum where this originated.
While we don't have immediate plans, this is an area our team are looking to review. We will update you if there is any planned changes to this, through this idea.

User Role - Restrict access to specific Settings
Ability to customise user roles to restrict some access in Xero.
Purpose: Some staff should only have limited access in Xero.
451 votesHey everyone, we've been following the conversation closely and we want to acknowledge how important this is for many of you.
Atm, we’re on a long journey to provide more controls within Xero features that our customers need. Being such a broad idea that touches many areas of our platform, we’d like to encourage adding your votes to specific user permissions that matter most to you, such as:
- Bank Accounts: For more control over who can see bank account balances and access specific accounts, please see the idea here: User Role - Restrict access to individual bank accounts
- Sales and Invoicing: If you’d like to see changes to permissions around sales reporting and editing invoice templates, you can follow that conversation here: User roles: Restrict access to Invoice Settings
- Reports: To have your say on restricting access to specific reports, the relevant idea is here: User permissions - Assign user access to specific reports
This change will allow us to focus on the more specific requests to explore. If you don’t see the user permission you’re after, raise a new idea here.
We're thankful for the time and effort you've put into sharing your thoughts on this. Your feedback is valuable, and helps us better understand the priorities and needs of the community as we continue to evolve Xero.

Files - Ability to upload any type of file to the library
To make the user able to upload any type of file into the library in Xero.
Purpose: To have more variety of file types that can be uploaded into Xero.
7 votesHi everyone, there’s already a pretty wide range of accepted file types available for upload, listed here. Allowing any file type to be uploaded is not best practice from a security perspective, so we need to manage the file types available. For example, the XML file type can be used to perform a variety of attacks that we want to avoid to protect our customer’s data. For that reason we don’t have any plans to make the XML file type available. If there are other specific file types that you want to see, feel free to start a new idea per file type so we can gauge demand and assess associated risk.

Manual Journals - Editing journal with auto-reversal to update related journal/s
To have an option to automatically update the reversing journal.
Purpose: To save time and help avoid errors in updating both entries.
48 votesHi community, thanks for your input and support into this idea for auto updating related journals when an auto-reversing journal is edited.
While the team began to look into work involved, priorities have shifted and this is not something we'll be looking to develop at this time.
We'll move the status back to submitted and keep you informed if there is any movement.

Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.
649 votesThanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for right now. Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)

Login - Don't Log Me Out/Extend Log Out Time (more than 60 minutes)
Develop the feature where Xero doesn't log user out time is extended for more than 60 minutes when it’s idle.
Purpose: Because having to log in again can disrupt users' workflow, which some users had to be interrupted as they’re also taking care of their business at the same time.
1,077 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the interest surrounding this idea, however we want to be open that we're unable to extend our log-out time past 60 minutes. Xero hold a lot of sensitive information including bank data and we're required to be as secure as online banking.
Any session information running on a web browser can potentially be stolen. If the session does not time out. You then have an infinitely long vulnerability window to session hijacking. Our best option is to keep a tight expiration window on the session cookie, and regenerate them frequently. Even setting a long timeout doesn't help with this - too long a timeout will greatly increase the risk of invasion or potentially jeopardise your personal data and the safety and integrity of the Xero application itself. This is why we maintain control of this.
If we detect there's been no activity on a page (e.g move movements, clicks, keyboard) for 10 minutes you'll receive an inactivity prompt ('Hey Kelly, are you still there?') and if your session reaches 60 minutes you'll be redirected to the login page.- As a suggestion you can periodically refresh the screen <F5> to prevent the security timeout kicking in.
In more recent comments here it sounds like some of you are having issues with the login process or staying logged into Xero for less than 60 minutes. If you're experiencing unexpected behaviour, we'd highly recommend raising a case with our team of specialists at Xero Support where we have tools to investigate and confirm what's going on - Any details you can provide the team on the page you're trying to sign in from (e.g URL, error 500 received) or actions you were making when the login issue occurred will help. Thanks

User Role - Restrict access to specific Tracking categories
Ability to restrict access to specific tracking categories for some users in Xero org.
Purpose: To help users hide the incoming and outgoing transactions from some users within the Xero org. Some organisations (e.g. not for profit) need this to protect the privacy of their donors and departments.

Login - Enable Microsoft Entra ID Single Sign On
Ability to use Azure Active Directory for MFA.
Purpose: It makes Microsoft users easily log into Xero.
582 votesHi everyone, we appreciate all the feedback and votes on this idea. We know using Microsoft Entra ID SSO is now common practice for some businesses and being able to access Xero via a native integration with Entra ID would streamline how your teams log in and get set up in Xero, as well as help in managing access for larger teams and keeping things secure.
Our product team have been working with a small limited group of Partners to develop SSO capabilities. Though we can't give any definite timelines yet, we’ll keep this thread updated with news. Thanks

Xero Files - Rename files once they are attached
Ability to rename the files in Xero Files once it’s attached.
Purpose: To make other users in Xero (the one that doesn’t upload the file) can easily identify the file without having to click it.

Xero Mail - Send as @company-name.com not message-service@post.xero.com
Ability to make an email sent from Xero appear as @company-name.com instead of message-service@post.xero.com, when users send an email to their client/customer.
Purpose: To provide more validity when sending communications from Xero out to clients/customers and avoid items ending up in Spam/Junk mail.
368 votesHi community, thanks for sharing your continued interest here. We appreciate the importance of having assurance that mail you send from Xero is being received, and that being able to send from your own company email would increase confidence in this process.
I can confirm this idea has been continually reviewed by our product teams, and being able to send from your own company email is on their radar. Currently there are other priorities, and platform work that requires their attention, before they can consider this more deeply.
When there is opportunity to pick this up, I will share any news with you all here.

Email Settings: Add a default CC email address to templates
Ability to add a default CC email address in the email template.
Purpose: Users can easily input another email address when they have to add they create an email template.
70 votesHi everyone, a few different asks within the idea here and I'd like to confirm what is currently possible to help clarify.
We have recently released a new send modal with new invoicing - with this update you now have the ability to cc and Bcc emails when sending individual invoices from Xero with new invoicing.
While it's not possible to set default cc and Bcc email at the email template level at present this may be something we look into further down the line and we will keep you updated of any planned improvements through this idea.
For the time being, if there are other people for a contact that you'd like to ensure also receive emails you can add them as additional people to the Contact record and select to 'Include this person in emails sent to this contact'
On the other hand, if you'd like to ensure you receive a copy of the email being sent make sure the 'Send myself a copy' option is checked beneath the email on the right of the send modal - This is a browser setting triggered by your last selection. So, should remain checked for the next invoice you send.
When you send emails from your Xero organisation, these are are sent from our email message service. If your customer replies using ‘Reply to’ from the email they’ve received, their reply will go to the ‘reply-to’ email address that has been set up in your email settings - There's been more discussion of this across in this idea.
Thought we appreciate this doesn't fully resolve the idea here, I hope my explanation above helps understanding and provides options for some of you here. We'll share if there are any further changes surrounding this, here.
