  1. Is there a way that if you file a payrun with Inland Revenue and it fails to files (as it can take up to 30 minutes) a notification is messaged to say that it has not filed. Similar to the message with email has have not uploaded.

  3. Hello,

    I wanted to take a moment to share a suggestion that I believe could significantly simplify our payroll process. It involves the implementation of a bulk upload feature, which would allow us to handle payroll data in a more efficient manner. We will need a template that contains essential details for each employee. These details may include the employee's name, rate of salary, and various pay items relevant to their compensation. This would reduce the time and effort invested in processing payroll.

While we understand wanting to see developments, as you may have recently read - We’ve been offering Pay Run to our Global Edition customers since 2011 to provide basic payroll functionality. However, over the years, we’ve focused our efforts on making solutions available which offer enhanced features and a deeper integration with the Xero platform, such as Xero payroll in AU, NZ and UK, we've also seen newer payroll solutions in regions available through the Xero App Store (such as Gusto in US). 

    With this focus, we’re making some changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs…

  4. We have just moved onto Xero Payroll and it would be very helpful if employees could add notes to their timesheet each day.

    Hi everyone, an update to my earlier message:


    This change was specific to users of the Australian payroll.


    Apologies, and we'll shift this idea back to 'Submitted' so we can continue to track and share if there are developments in New Zealand Payroll.


    However, at the moment this is not in the team's plans.

  5. We need to pay two different groups of employees from two different bank accounts. Having to change the payroll settings each time I do a pay run (to change the bank account) leaves far too much room for error. Can there be an option to select which bank account you want to use for each pay group PLEASE!!?

  6. In service industries like hospitality salaried employees will work a different set of shifts each week across 7 days. Currently I have to set up a working pattern and if they phone in sick on a Saturday for example if that day isnt set as their working day (i.e we set them up as Mon-Fri for ease) we have to record the sick day on the Monday to ensure it is deducted. But in these industries the working days are different each week and they dont work on a set pattern. Need the ability to set that the employee

  7. Add YTD figures for (recurring) reimbursements on an employee"s Payslip, such as non-reportable travel allowances (paid as reimbursements).

    I followed a Xero direction to process non-reportable travel allowances as reimbursements, as it ws creating discrepancies in our BAS (even though include in W1 was not checked).

    For an employee not to be able to see their total YTD renumeration on their payslip, including these reimbursements, is disappointing (particularly as it won't show on their EOFY payment summary).

  8. The ability to set up a holiday calendar period of our choice (we have multiple clients with varying holiday calendars) with the option to have the full holiday entitlement available and for the available balance to reduce as employees take annual leave.

    Hi everyone, coming back to this idea I'm pleased to share that with functionality we delivered last year this is now possible!

    You can now set up an employee's leave policy to accrue based on a custom date of your choosing, so their entitlements will be accurate and accrue based on your companies leave year. We have more detail on setting up an employees leave entitlements on Xero Central.

  9. The new Payroll Activity and Summary Report is not as user friendly as the old one. It was much easier to read and find your employee name and net amount due on the older version. I also don't like how half an employees details can be on one page and the rest on the next page. I would like to revert to the old style, if possible?

  10. In order to monitor expenses by venue, tracking categories in Payroll - giving staff the ability to log their time worked by venue - makes total sense. However, when staff take A/L or S/L, there is no ability to use a tracking category, so all these transactions go to the default 'unassigned'. The time involved in searching what makes up this 'unassigned' amount in a payroll of 35+ employees across 9 venues is astonishingly time-consuming, yet vital to the overall expense reports. Would love to have some time and effort put into this issue please Xero.

  11. STP2 Allowances. Not reportable at W1 should push that information through with STP, but it doesn't. Using reimbursements as a work around is not good enough - better syncing is needed.

  13. We have had the unfortunate event of an employee pass away whilst still employed.

    I would like to suggest that Xero make it easier for companies to be able to process a death benefit payment (ETP - type D) within the system rather than having to process this manually and then having to do journal entries for the system to balance correctly. And to then have to process paper copies of PAYG payment summaries to report this to the ATO.

  14. It would be great if Xero could send an alert if a leave request has been submitted for a payroll period that has already been processed?
    This would apply in the situation that payroll was run early and then an employee took a day off in the period that was included in the payrun.

  15. Timesheet Tap n Go Widget for Mobiles

    The Xero Me app is fine for leave and payslips, but it's not the best for end-user timesheet input or management. Sure it works and links to the pay system, but from an end user experience it's behind other timesheet apps as users have to log in to then manually enter times.

    However, with a one-touch "tap n go" widget employees could put on their mobile devices (they already download Xero Me ) so they simply tap to input (check-in) the current time and tap to end (check-out).

  16. Please fix the Schedule 5 PAYG calculation to include YTD commissions and bonuses as well as ordinary earnings. This is causing issues with tax not calculating automatically because the employee's only form of income is from commissions (real estate industry) and they are forced to report it under commissions for STP Phase 2 yet the calculation things they have $0 YTD earnings.

  17. We have 2 employees that will be taking 1 day LSL every week in the new financial year and it would be very helpful if there was a way to add in this type of leave request as a recurring request for the same day each week. Rather than having to add in 1 day leave for each occasion.

  19. It'll be good to be able to submit leave requests for the next year without affecting the current year's balance.

    Towards the end of the year for the holiday allowance, employees start to plan their time off for the next year.

    It'll be good for the system to recognise that the leave request is for the next year and only deduct off the balance once the new year starts and the balance is reset.

    Hi community, we appreciate the original raising of this idea some time ago. To be open, with STP2 now released and majority of organisations having already updated their employees we want to be upfront we don't have plans for making this change.
