  1. For the new format of the Profit and loss report, only show the tracking categories that actually have a balance. Therefore do not show with nil balance.
    Currently have to adjust the report to remove the relevant columns which is time & $.

    The old version did this automatically!

  2. We really need an option to account for back orders when invoicing. Other accounting software providers ie MYOB have this option. I was surprised to find there was no automatic option in Xero.

    Hey Jen, thanks for submitting your idea! 

    Just checking if you're referring to Custom Pay Items, which are already available in Xero Payroll.

    If not, could you let us know some examples of custom fields you require, that aren't already available in Xero Payroll?

  5. It would be very helpful if there were the ability to set up Reminders in Xero Payroll for certain dates such as birthdays and apprenticeship anniversaries so that you would know to change the employee's Pay Rate accordingly.

  6. Watchlist - Ability to toggle off MTD and/or YTD.

    When using Gusto payroll the Xero Book balance for the checking account is not affected until the checks are cashed. I have added the Clearing account to the Watchlist but the MTD number is of no value. The YTD balance shows all checks still outstanding. Users can then manually deduct from book balance to know what's really available. So I'd like the ability to show/no show MTD and YTD by options to turn each on or off in the watchlist dialogute for each chart of account item.

  7. Hi
    Would love to see the autosave available for Quotes. Often my clients are distracted whilst creating Quotes and when they've navigated to another section (rather than opening a new Xero tab), the Quote disappears!
    For one of my clients, his quoting is very detailed and this process takes valuable time which he'd rather not have to repeat if the Quote is no longer there.
    Invoices are autosaved of course, once a Contact is entered, so I would assume that the same principle could easily be applied to Quotes....

    Hi team, while we understand the desire for auto-save in quotes here, we want to be open that we don't have plans for changing the current save behaviour for quotes for the time being. While seemingly simple there is a fine balance in creating a save experience that'll suit majority of users. As some may have seen with new invoicing that has auto-save implemented, we've received wide ranging response for this feature, and there is more work needed to fine tune.

    To confirm the current experience, when creating quotes in Xero you'll want to select the Save button before navigating elsewhere in your org, or leaving the page to ensure the contents of your quote is saved.

    If there are any intentions of changing how save works in quotes, we will surely let you know on the idea here. Thanks

  8. Discounts - the ability for the discounts in sales to be allocated to an expense account rather than distorting sales figures. At the moment each line item has the cost of the item then applies say 10% discount equals net which then is allocated to the sales account. I would like the option to allocate discounts to an expense called discounts given so that we can track and show the correct sales figures. By distorting sales figures you could be affecting calculations like WET. other programs allows you to setup discounts given & taken and freight even.

  10. Could Xero start looking at a drop down box on the allowance to have one as Not Reportable (alongside the other catagories eg. Meals, Tools, Car), and to have it out for STP reporting? or another checkbox down the bottom along with the withholding tax, super, and W1 questions?
    Instead of going through the long winding process of creating an ordinary earning, remove as deduction and do a reimbursement as per https://central.xero.com/s/article/Process-special-pay-items-like-living-away-from-home-allowance

  12. Have automatic superannuation payments be able to be paid via credit card, through xero. Currently there seems to only be the ability to make automatic payment via direct debit but it would be good if it could be made by a credit card.

    The Payroll /Or Payrun system can also be currency optional

    Companies are becoming more international. The online office model is not limited to the workplace, and salaries will be paid in different currencies. This is probably going to be a trend.

  16. Even though the above feature in XERO has great potential for add on value services to clients, example, 90 days cash flow projections, I am very surprised that no one asked, why cant we produce a report in PDF or Excel??? Isn't this an essential part of a report?

  17. SIE files and SAF-T files are international standards for electronic exchange of accounting data and should, as soon as possible, be included in Xero as a digital application.

  18. We need to upload an Approval Matrix/Approval hierarchy with a scope depending on "Location" and "Total amount" with 2 levels of approvers for "Expense claims" (EC) & "Purchase Orders" (PO).
    With that, we are looking for automation on sending the EC & PO automatically by the system to the correspondent Approver depending on the scope through email.

    Thanks for your idea, Micaela. Expenses and Purchase Orders are quite different transactions types in Xero. 

    We try to keep one idea per thread here so we can get a true view of the interest for that specific functionality. I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea to represent Expense Claims but welcome you to start another for Purchase Orders specifically where we can track that too 🙂

  19. Being able to click on the summary page to show what is entered in that field would be good or a drop down box on the BAS summary page. Having to scroll through sales to get to the expenses is time consuming.

  20. Give us the ability to run transaction reports by Account groups (ie: Balance Sheet, P&L) so we don't have to go clicking a bunch of accounts. It would make life much easier.
