  1. I've just set up a salary sacrifice for a cycle to work scheme in payroll. However there isn't an end date in Xero so I have to manually diarise a date to stop the salary sacrifice for the employees. Please could a box be added to automate this.

  3. 2 TOIL options, TOIL accrued & TOIL Accrued in place of Overtime

    We are unable to mark a Time in Lieu Leave pay item as exempt from accruing SGC, which is not how the ATO classifies SGC for TOIL.

    We suggest having 2 TOIL categories, so that there is the option for a TOIL where SGC is required to be paid and one wit SGC exempt:- when super is accrued on overtime.

  4. The UK Payroll API does not allow payslips to be updated as it does in AU/NZ.

    Enabling it like it is in NZ would allow all UK users to be able to upload Earnings/Deductions/Reimbursements/Accruals to the payslip electronically and save massive amounts of time.

  5. To import individual time entries from projects to payroll timesheets, at the moment this only comes through as a bulk time for the day, you then have to manually add the time to the particular pay item if you use more then one pay item. Very frustrating and time consuming, would be nice to have this automated.

  6. I would like the option of creating separate pay runs and allowing certain individuals access to each. This would help when doing management and senior staff payroll so payroll admin can't access the information of the senior management team. I think the access rights in Xero need to be a bit more flexible as it seems an all or nothing system at the moment. Other accounting packages do have more flexibility with access rights and I think this lets Xero down.

  7. We have up to 100 employees at certain times of the year, and it would be easier to unselect employees we are not paying, than select employees we are paying. A "select all" option would be good.

  9. It would be really helpful if there was a report that showed the actual amount of hours worked per month per individual and as a total. Our company has busy seasons, as well as quiet seasons and having a report like this would help us in planning our staffing situation.

    The Payroll /Or Payrun system can also be currency optional

    Companies are becoming more international. The online office model is not limited to the workplace, and salaries will be paid in different currencies. This is probably going to be a trend.

    We appreciate the input and interest this idea has received overtime. However as you may have recently received word - We’re making some changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date. 

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run. 

    This also means that we don't have any plans for further development of our Global Pay Run product, and will move any ideas related to this on this site to Not planned.

  12. I need to be able to approve super when I am travelling and do not have access to text messages. It is most inflexible that there is only one method for doing this! Can the Xero Verify App not be used for auto super approvals too? Then I only need wifi.

    Or, can text be received to whatsapp instead?

  13. Hi Xero team,

    For timesheets with the "Total hours worked" setting, would you be able to create a setting that allows us to set our own default shift duration?

    When we go to add a shift to our timesheet, by default the shift duration is set to 8 hours. For those of us who don't work 8 hour shifts, each time we log a shift we have to click on the duration and change it to the amount of hours we worked.

    Thanks for sharing with us here, community. While your idea has been reviewed by our product team we want to be open that we will not develop the ability to delete old pay runs. Instead, there is the mark as inactive option.


    We have rolled out new functionality in NZ payroll for timesheets, and while inactive ones are in the list, these are grouped together at the bottom, meaning you don't have to scroll through them, but can still view any old timesheets linked to that calendar.

  16. When setting up Xero payroll, have the option of uploading tax information (IRD number, tax code etc.), as currently needs to be done individually.

  17. We need the ability to see how many miles an employee has travelled within the tax year. This is so that we can follow HMRC guidelines in respect of the pence per mile that is paid to the employee. Currently the rules state that up to 10,00 miles can be reimbursed at 45p per mile and thereafter this rate is reduced to 25p per mile.

    This could also include the ability to set a default rate to avoid any errors made by the employee and to then generate an alert once the employee exceeds 10,000 miles and …

  18. Please can you add a fix so that you can amend someone's regular earnings with the same start date if that pay-run hasn't yet been run.

    You used to be able to do this, but recently you cant make a correction - instead you have to put the correct data on the next available date. This creates a second line on the payslip - which looks messy and clearly displays the fact you've made an error. Not something I'd choose to share.

    Hi Georgina, the salary line will only lock once it's been included in a pay run. Is it possible there is a pay run in draft? If so, you'd need to delete the draft pay run in order to edit the salary line.

    If you're having any issues with this we'd recommend raising a case through Xero Central where our specialists can investigate this with you.

  19. At the moment there doesn't seem to be a way to pay a monthly employee a basic monthly salary without the hourly rate changing to reflect the number of working days in the month. Please can there be an option to pay a monthly employee a basic 12th of their annual salary each month and the hours per month are set to the average of a 12th of their annual hours so that the hourly rate for overtime etc stays the same each month.

    Hi everyone, we’re pleased to share that we’ve now released working patterns to all UK organisations that use Xero Payroll.

    You can now enter more information about employees’ working patterns to support leave and earning rates calculations and save you time. You’ll be able to:

    • Create or select from working pattern templates
    • Add working patterns manually or using the template
    • Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern

    Being able to set up to 13 weeks in a template means you’ll be able to accurately reflect employees’ that may work differing hours through weeks in a month like you’re after here. We’ve shared a few videos on YouTube that’ll help guide you through the change 😊
