Bank Reconciliation - Linked hierarchy bank accounts
Can we please have a Parent and Child relationship on the accounts to ease cash allocations. At the moment we are getting 1 payment that covers multiple accounts.
We work with Schools and get payments from Councils and Academy's. These payments go across multiple schools and payments are currently allocated 1 invoice at a time.
It would be helpful to have a Parent account / Hierarchy account or to put the Council/Academy name within the individual school account on Xero and put the Parent/Hierarcy name within the "Find & select matching transactions" - "Search by name or reference"

Bank Reconciliation - Templates for common split payments
TEMPLATE FOR COMMON SPLIT PAYMENTS
We need to be able to save a split payment as a template (like a bank rule)
eg: registration is always split with gst, no gst etc, let us save that transaction as a template for easy recon next time. Bank rule isnt helpfull as when you have 20 different regos being paid to the same company then a simple split template would be very helpful3 votesHi team, while we appreciate you raising your idea here. Not getting much community traction overtime, and not being in our current roadmap we will remove this idea from the forums.
While I appreciate it's not solution you're after, to import transactions that match multiple statement lines you could consider importing these as Invoices or Bills.
With regard to the consideration of templates for split payments, one option could be to use the percentage split option in Bank rules rather than the fixed amount.
If this idea is still important and would make a big impact to your business flows, you're welcome to start it again to see if there is renewed interest from the community.

Bank reconciliation - Link from the Business menu
When completing bookkeeping for a client, if you were to go out of the reconciliation tab you have to go back to the dashboard to get back into. I think that if there was a 'reconcile' link in the 'business' tab if would make us more efficient.

Bank Reconciliation - Reconcile both sides of a Transfer in one go
When reconciling transfers between accounts, it would be great if the reconciliation of the transfer in 1 account automatically updates the other so you don't have to reconcile it in 2 places

Reconciliation - Allow credit notes to show and be selected on the find & match screen
Ability to show and can select credit notes on the find & match screen.
Purpose: To save time rather than having to go in and allocate the credit note against an invoice then going back to the bank reconciliation screen.
707 votesHi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

Bank Reconciliation - Choose which columns to show on the Account Transactions and Bank Statements tabs
The columns visible in Bank Statements and Account Transactions under Bank Accounts are totally different. This makes it almost impossible to search for matching transactions. Can you have default columns that can be selected? Some of the columns are only available when the statement is uploaded and I'm not sure even how useful they are.
7 votesHi Ann, it'd be good to understand more of the detail that you're seeing on each of these screens that is useful to you - Perhaps there's a report we can suggest that gives all that you're after?

Bank Reconciliation - Ability to make bank rec turn green even when there's something in discuss tab
Find and match on bank rec to still go green when there is an entry on the discuss tab.
Currently the right hand side of the bank rec will only turn green if there is a possible match and nothing in the discuss tab. If there is something in the discuss tab it will not turn green even if there is a match.
It would be great if the border of the box still turned green whilst displaying the comment to indicate that there is a possible match to allow the user to review and ok the transaction.

Reporting - Combine Bank Reconciliation & Uncoded Statement Line Report
It would be useful if Bank uncoded statement line report could also show outstanding payments & receipts. 9 times out of 10 an 'orange' transaction is a client error, duplicate transaction etc. Effectively this would be a complete list of bank items to be reconciled / fixed ( Ideally with the last month, quarter, financial year filter)

Bank Reconciliation - Import statements in CFONB format
Our bank has changed from export of bank statements from OFX to CFONB (see below the new French standard) which is not yet supported by Xero! This has a huge impact on our workflow and time spent on getting our many bank transactions in the system. Can anyone help and vote for this to be upgraded as a format for bank transaction import..
Thanks so much!
CFONB (also known as AFB) is a French standard defined by the Comité Français d'Organisation et de Normalisation Bancaires/French Committee for Banking Organization and Standardization (CFONB) to meet the needs of the Association…

Reconciliation - Notify users when there are new entries in Discuss tab
the discussion tab in bank reconciliation is a wonderful tool to communicate issues encountered in doing bank reconciliations. What would make it better would be if there is an option to notify specific users when a new entry or response has been entered in the tab. This would increase productivity for service providers and allow their clients to respond quicker to queries from their service provider

Bank Reconciliation: Automatically recognise and remove duplicate statement lines
Imported bank statements - propose for Xero to spot "duplicate" transactions as to remedy this situation I had to process a large number of lines one by one across a number of different accounts
6 votesHI everyone, returning to the idea here we're going to move this to Not planned. However, we understand wanting to ensure the accuracy of your bank statements and reconciliations in Xero.
As mentioned in my last update - Xero won't automatically delete duplicate statement lines for you, however you can run the Duplicate statement lines report to help identify and remove duplicates, so you can choose which of the statement lines in your bank account you'd like to keep and reconcile.
There is also the Statement exceptions report in the Bank Reconciliation report pack that'll show where statement lines have been deleted in an account due to being a duplicate.

Bank Reconciliation - Easily match ‘planned bill payments’ in bank rec
When you have a bulk bill payment as one line on the bank rec, it would be useful if within the ‘match’ tab you could easily bring up the bills with a specific planned to pay date. Rather than having to search for each bill/supplier from a separate list.

Reports - Add report with all bank statement lines
A report showing all Bank Statement lines for (Filtered) bank accounts and date ranges.
This report could be used to track transfers that go from Bank Account A to B to C.
Should include User created statement lines and reconciliation status. Additional details such as matched transactions would also be useful.12 votes -

Reconciliation - Create Bill instead of Spend Money
It would be very useful to be able to generate a Bill when Reconciling, instead of just being able to "Spend Money". This would allow much better tracking of transactions, since money leaving an account via Spent Money is far less visible than when a Bill is paid.
Specifically:
When PayPal is enabled as a Payment Method, and a customer pays their Invoice this way, the associated PayPal account shows two entries in the Bank Feed ready for Reconciliation:
1) A transaction fee is deducted from the PayPal account.
2) The full amount of the payment into the PayPal…7 votesHi Faris, generally as a bill is received prior to payment so currently it's expected that the bill would already exist in Xero when reconciling.
Appreciate your example of where this could create efficiency and we'll get an idea of the support in this here. 🙂
In the meantime, depending on your type of sales you may find an integration in our App Store that could serve by automatically creating the transactions in Xero.
