  1. In the old Xero reports as part of the management report, it was possible to run a report that showed month by month actuals for the FY to date then the budget month by the month for the rest of the financial year to give a full year forecast.

    However, in the new Xero reports, this functionality has gone. Try and write my own report but the dates don't update automatically regardless of the reporting date you select (as confirmed by a Xero specialist)

    Thank you for sharing your feedback and voting on the idea here, community. While we've reviewed this idea and appreciate the needs in what you're wanting here, we want to be open that we don't have any plans for developing a billable expenses report of this nature in the near term.

    We will continue to track the interest here, and share if anything changes.

  3. what about the possibility of practices creating their own report code structure? with infinite report codes capable of being added? to accommodate flexible reporting structures?

    It is truly difficult to automate reporting where a practice does not control the chart structure. this is because clients often create new chart codes because their particular expense doesnt neatly fit the chart options available...so a new expense/revenue/etc account is added and then the report pack grows in size (with similar account types that really should be grouped for reporting) to the point where it is unusable...unless the practice manually maps…

  4. An automatic monthly payroll tax report would be fantastic. I've noticed Xero cannot do an automatic calculation of Payroll Tax like MYOB can. MYOB allows you to select pay categories (pay items) to exclude and run a monthly payroll tax report.

    Our AU Payroll team are testing some changes to Payroll reconciliation. The idea to have an automatic monthly payroll tax report is highly associated with payroll reconciliation and we feel that voters here would also have an interest in payroll reconciliation. They would love to hear from you!

    They’re aiming to conduct some 1 on 1 interviews between 6 Feb - 16 Feb 2024, the interviews will last 45 minutes.

    The purpose of the session: Participants will be asked to help with testing a prototype concept designed to enhance the AU payroll reconciliation process.

  6. We desperately need an audit trail report available for advisors.

    I think it would be sufficient to have the below added to the account transactions report style (but named as Audit Trail):
    1 - the ability to include an 'edited date' column
    2 - the ability to include a 'notes' column
    3 - a tick box to show/hide audit trail history (so voids would show as separate creation and void lines netting off, not just removal of the original transaction)
    4 - a unique un-editable transaction identifier for all transactions, not just bills/invoices

    We've made some steps around being able to adapt the font size of reports through the use of Report styles. Report styles are available to any Xero Partner, and lets you apply different publishing styles by allowing you to set the logo, colour of titles  in reports, and font size of client reports and report templates.

    We appreciate there are other ideas for improving the format of reports further with improvements such as font type, or text colouring & wrapping - We have an idea across here we'd encourage you add your support and votes to and will share any future improvements on.

  8. Filter Compare Tracking Report by second tracking category - run the compare P&L report with the P&L down the left and the categories across the columns but then be able to filter the transactions within this report by the second tracking category.

    Hot anticipation for this idea - We're pleased to share that this change is going live! (If you don't quite have it yet it'll be with you in the next 2 days) 

    If you use Tracking in your org we've added a new 'Compare tracking categories' option on the front page of the newer Profit & Loss.

    While the older version had a limitation of selecting 100 options at a time, the team have doubled this, so now you can select up to 200 tracking categories to view at once.

    In terms of activity 

    • Archived tracking options won't be shown by default but there is a switch to view and select these if you choose.

    Hi team, as an update to my last post, we have now rolled out the Leave Requests report in UK Payroll. This report lists the details for leave requested, approved and taken, for all employees or can be run for a singular employee, and will help when planning rosters or work schedules. Payroll Admins will be able to find and access it through the Reports Centre found in the Accounting menu. We're aware that the Leave Requests report does not meet all of the requirements as outlined in the comments of this idea, and we have created a new idea for a Leave Transactions Report. We will track interest of this idea and keep an eye on this separately, so please do join and support if this is of interest to you.

  13. The new Payroll Activity Detail Report is very hard to read when there is more than a couple of employees.

    I understand that the new report format has been designed to reflect the other updated reports in Xero. However, so that it is more user-friendly, can we have:

    1 - A blank line between each employee so that it is easier to see quickly where one employee's details cease and the next employee's details start.

    2 - Highlight the employee name by shading that line, again to make it easy to see where each employee starts on the report

    Hey community, 👋 thanks for all your support on this idea, I’m pleased to let you know that this has been delivered for UK Payroll initially! It includes the ability to select the date range you’re interested in, and check boxes to either select all results or multiple. Then you can download your selection as a single PDF of multiple payslips.

    For users in AU and NZ we know this is a highly anticipated feature, however to be open this is not any immediate plans for those teams so we’ll leave this idea open. While we appreciate it doesn’t help employers needing bulk downloads, employees can be invited into the Xero Me portal to self-serve payslip collection.

  17. We would like to have the ability to duplicate a customised report in a financial accounts pack within the advisor reports.
    For example, when preparing monthly reports, they will include a YTD profit and loss report then a month by month profit and loss report.
    The P&L reports can have quite a few customisations like grouping and added formula's etc, so it would be a huge time saver if we could duplicate the YTD P&L then edit to make it month by month, rather than having to start customisations from scratch with a new P&L report

    Hi team, this is possible through the use of the Management report in a Xero org. 

    If you click the 3 dots next to Management report you'll see you can Create new report pack where you'll have the option to add any of your custom reports that have been saved in the org. 🙂

  18. When building custom reports, currently there is no way to add a Date column that updates to match the date range specified when viewing the report.

    This is available on all pre-defined reports, but can not be added as part of a custom report.

    There are many cases where it is desirable to build a report template that can be run for different, user-specified, date ranges, without having to edit the report each time.

    Appreciate the support here, and thanks for your feedback on being able to view a report that shows prepayments that you've recorded for contacts in Xero. 


    Our reporting teams have been making many developments to enhance Xero's newer style reports, and added Prepayments to both the Payable and Receivable Invoice Summary and Details reports

    • For unallocated prepayments amounts only, add a 'Source' filter for Prepayments, and a Status filter of 'Approved' (when all credit of a Prepayment's been allocated it will show a status of 'Paid')


    If you'd like to have your formatted report on hand any time, save it as custom - You could even go as far as making this the default. 🙂

  20. New reports - enable data capture in links

    Currently - if you select a specific date range or filter and then link to this report, that data is lost and upon clicking the link you get the default report and have to reselect the data.

    It would be useful and time saving to enable the link to capture that data - the same as the old versions of the reports
