  1. It would be good if you could hide leave balances on individual employee payslips. The hide/show leave balances on payslips is a global setting applying to all employees. For example, employee moved from part time to casual and had leave balances zeroed out, or hiding Long Service leave from employees that are accruing but not yet eligible.

  2. Ability to draft future payruns - ie more than 1 darft payrun. Especially at Christmas time. I would like to draft up future payruns before Igo on leave, but still have the ability to adjust this week payrun for overtime etc. At the moment I can't move forward until I complete current payrun. or i have to do un unscheduled payrun to fix it. Very time consuming

  4. Say I go to a supplier and make a cash purchase. I use my debit card and then walk out with goods and a receipt. Scanning the receipt to Xero and coding the purchase if easy but I am pretty slack and normally lose the receipt before I get to scan it. What say, the vendor scans a QR code that I carry containing my email/Xero info and this allows the vendor's system to email me the purchase document. No paper and I can code the purchase when I am at my PC later in the day. Also means I…

  5. Currently Xero is set up to nil off both the Employer NI Expense GL and Liability GL as soon as payroll is run because employers NI contribution is always setoff against HMRC allowances.

However, it is important to have employers NI contribution cleared only when remittances are made to HMRC and when HMRC send allowances (which is always a month accrued). The allowances are setoff against the employers NI expense GL.

This treatment will allow the accountant to respond to remittances made to HMRC in terms of employers NI and allowances received from HMRC accordingly.

    It will also allow the…

  6. The Payroll History Report needs to be available as a customizable report for which you can choose the reporting period and include all employees in one report. Currently only available for one employee at a time.

Hi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago. This isn't something we have plans for in the near term.

Not getting a lot of support from other members we’ll soon remove this from Product ideas. If it’s still highly valuable to you, welcome to start it again and see if it gets renewed interest.

  7. Could a similar function that UK organsiations have to "deep archive" employees be rolled out to AU organsiations? This will assist to adhere to legal requirements of retaining employee records for 7 years.

  8. When posting a pay run, Xero should automatically create spend money transactions with all relevant details and links to the pay run.

Currently, this is done manually by creating spend money transactions for each transaction and there is no link to the payslip.

This will save a lot of time in reconciling a pay run and improve the connectivity within Xero.

    Hi community, you might've heard that we’re making changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.

Considering that we'll retire this feature we want to front-foot that we have no plans (as requested in this idea) to develop Global Pay Run.

If you're in AU, UK or NZ there's our Xero Payroll product that's been specifically tailored to your regions unique requirements. Find out more about the pricing plans this is available through on xero.com, or connect with specialists if you need a hand. Alternatively,…

  9. When I review payroll I want to know if the employee is casual, part-time, full time or contractor.

I want to know the typical hours worked in the payslip cycle so as to determin whether overtime entitlements apply.

  11. There needs to be a feature to turn off automatic notifications when an employee changes their bank account,
Every time this changes in our system our Accountant gets an email.
Apparently there is currently no way to turn this feature off.

  12. In the Payroll software, we can only allocate Direct wages to the cost of sales. Unfortunately, that doesn't include Employer NI nor Employer Pension cost in the cost of sales.
Such coding would be useful, as we now use Birghtpay to do such coding.
Without this feature, the gross profit margin and overheads are incorrect.

  13. A number of my client are service businesses and as such all of the payroll costs should be posted either to a Cost of Sale account for Operational staff or Overhead for support staff. I can achieve this for all costs except for Employer NIC cost, which has to be manually moved. It would be beneficial if the NIC could go to an NIC GL dependent upon the type of basic pay chosen.

  14. We are wanting to create a report for timesheet information for hours worked submitted by employees, that have been reviewed by their managers, i.e. rejected and unapproved overtime worked. The timesheet report only lists the paid hours. We would like to know the hours submitted by employees on their timesheets, versus the hours that were eventually approved and paid for. Are we able to create a custom report for this, to work out unapproved (as revised by the approver) overtime hours per employee, for a specific time period. This information is needed to do the BOOT test each year for…

  15. I have a number of clients that have employees that are paid a daily rate rather than an hourly rate. We currently can't use Xero payroll for them as the payroll needs to use hours rather than days to pay. It would be great to use Xero if there was an option to pay a daily rate rather than an hourly rate.

  16. Hi, It would be great if payslips line items match the 'pay template' pay items or alternatively, for pay items that have a YTD amount to be shown on all payslips (with the Nil or $amount for the current pay period as applicable with the YTD) to breakdown 'Other Previous Earnings'.
This will also assist tracking multiple pay items where it can vary each pay cycle, coding and tracking STP rates and categories, YE finalisation and review. Many thanks.

  17. My small business client came up the idea that when we download the aba file for our payroll, it would be great to have the option to pay total PAYGW & super liabilities into a nominated bank account.
This sets aside the money ready for the BAS'es, IAS'es and super.

This is not in line with the Australian Accounting Standard.

Can Xero update the ability to allocate to a liability account, please?

Hi everyone, we really appreciate the sentiment and engagement on the idea of being able to forecast leave balances.

We know this feature could make planning ahead and managing leave approvals much easier, but at this stage it’s not something we’re planning to develop in the near term, so we’ll be moving it to 'Not in pipeline'.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on how this idea trends in the community and will leave it open for voting. If our plans change, we’ll share an update here.

  20. Please allow payments to be made to an employee after they have left and their P45 has been generated. Sage, for example, allows you to include past employees in a pay run and tick a 'payment after leaving' box which gives the correct 0T tax code and produces the correct FPS submission for HMRC. This is a very basic part of payroll that needs to be included in this system, the option to create a new employee file in order to pay them is not complying with HMRC and is not an acceptable alternative.
