  1. Currently our monthly bank revaluation FX diff is being automatically coded by Xero to be split between tracking categories rather than simply being "unassigned". However, for our purposes, once USD are banked, they no longer "belong" to that tracking category and instead are general company funds. It is impossible to tell Xero to stop coding revaluation amounts to tracking categories but this doesn't make sense for the accounts, especially when a tracking category finished within the business months ago.     Hi Imogen, thanks for sharing your thoughts on multicurrency bank revaluations. We understand how having FX differences automatically assigned to tracking categories doesn’t always fit your workflow.

    This idea has been moved to Gaining support, so the community can vote and share their experiences. Adding a bit more about why this change would help in your workflow can help others see the value and give the product team context.

  2. In NZ we are required by law to keep 7 years of records for the IRD (tax department). I make a point of destroying old financial records that are older than 7 years. Xero doesn't have a mechanism to purge old data. I see in my Xero I full record including invoices, supplier invoices and financial data back to Jan 2014.

    I would like to see a system whereby old data was completely wiped, and summary starting figures created for the purged data period, say as at the start of each tax year, for me 1 April 2018 so that…

    Appreciate why you'd like to remove older data from your org after a long period, Steven. Generally we don't want to be touching our customers data, and this isn't something we have plans for implementing. However, we'll get a sense of the interest from others in this here, for our product teams to consider.

    Right now, if you'd like to remove older data there are a couple of options;

    • You could start a new organisation from the date you'd like to keep records from, setting up the organisation with conversion balances from that date. You could also export and import information from the old org to the new one.
    • Change the conversion balances in your existing org and remove older data prior to this date
  3. Invoice Only User SHOULD have access to "send and print" feature once the Purchase Order were approved. To address this concern, a user should have an access level of Invoice Only + Purchases, however, changing the permission to this level, the inputs made by other users, which might be confidential and unnecessarily to be seen by others, are compromised. I would like to request to add this feature (send and print) for the Invoice Only users.

    We appreciate you taking the time to share and support this idea. We can see that this idea is already gaining traction amongst the community. Giving Invoice Only users the ability to send or print approved invoices has the potential to simplify your workflow and make day-to-day tasks more efficient.

    Enabling this functionality would allow the same users who create and approve invoices to also send or print them, reducing handovers and helping your business operate more smoothly. It’s a great example of how a small change can lead to better team autonomy.

    Currently, this action is available to users with Standard, Advisor, or Invoice Only – Approve & Pay roles. Expanding this to other Invoice Only roles, such as Draft, Sales, or Purchases could make Xero even more flexible for teams with clearly defined responsibilities.

  5. As an accountant I prefer the Reporting and Accounting tabs together, under one tab as it has always been. It would slow me down, if I had to search for accounting tools/reports under different tabs.

  6. Annual Subscription billing to XERO. Why are we paying monthly for a service that we have committed our company accounts to? One bill, annually, with autorenew. Cut down the amount of Xero invoices by 91.66%! Win-win surely?

  7. I recently noticed that all Standard Users in Xero are able to edit the settings on a client subscription. Is it possible to make this permission optional, so that the subscriber can decide whether or not to grant staff access to these settings?

  8. would like to request more granular user permissions for purchasing functions.

    Specifically, I need to allow a user to:

    Create and manage purchase orders
    Access supplier/contact records for operational purposes

    But restrict them from:

    Viewing bills
    Seeing any financial values (amounts, totals, pricing)
    Accessing financial data within contact records

    This would be particularly useful for operational or procurement staff who need to manage purchasing workflows without access to sensitive financial information.

    Currently, permission levels require granting broader financial visibility than is appropriate for these roles.

    A solution could include:

    A “Purchasing Only (No Financials)” role, or
    Toggle permissions to hide…

  9. A recurring problem we have is when clients sign up following a free trial but then end up creating a new/duplicate subscription. This may essentially be an issue with the UI that the client sees, but it would be useful to have the option for advisors to merge live Xero subscriptions with expired free trial accounts in these situations - or at least send a request through to Xero to carry out the task.

I would like a member of staff to be able to post to Xero from our Orderwise ERP software when I am away, so that I can have a holiday where i don't have to log in to Xero and Orderwise every morning. It is not currently possible as she has "invoice only" access. which works for everything else she does, but will not allow her to post from Orderwise to Xero. I don't want to give her access to the bank accounts so I'm stuck. Please consider making a change to user permissions to allow this 3rd party posting…

  11. I've just moved from a different program. Most things are much better, except for customer statements. No ageing periods on the statement. My suggestion - remove the remittance advice and put in an ageing period table.

  12. Ability to edit customer statement layout. I've just converted to Xero and find it a lot better than the previous program I was using, except in one respect. The customer statement is SO old-fashioned. It has the remittance advice cut-off slip, which was very helpful back in the early 2000s, when people still used cheques. Now, with online payments, it is not necessary and it makes the whole statement seem very old-fashioned.

  13. Proposed Feature: Quote Only User Role with Restricted Inventory Access

    Introduce a Quote Only user role in Xero that allows a user to create, edit, send and approve quotes while restricting access to all other parts of the system. The user should only see the quotes they created themselves and nothing else.

    The Quote Only user should be able to create quotes, edit their own quotes, send quotes to customers, and view inventory items with read only access. Inventory visibility should include item descriptions, prices, tax settings, and available stock quantities, but the user should not be able to modify…

  14. XERO is the only system I know which does not automatically add the hyphen between the numbers. e.g. 00-00-00 Instead XERO goes 000000 and you have to add 2 hyphens. This would just be nice!

  15. Since its introduction, the Xero app has had a significantly positive impact on my clients, enhancing their overall accounting experience and improving efficiency in managing their finances. I greatly appreciate the value the platform continues to provide.

    However, I would like to raise a concern regarding the absence of the demo company feature on the Xero mobile application. Currently, the demo company is only accessible via the web-based platform, which presents a challenge when demonstrating the app’s capabilities to prospective clients using mobile devices.

  16. General overhaul of user permissions. Including: When a new user is added to the practice at the admin level, they are automatically added to all clients in the practice. For large firms this is problematic and would be better if all users were only given access to the demo account upon invitation.

  17. When I login to Xero, I enter my email address and password and am taken to the second page (MFA).

    I'm then asked for the authenticator code, but I have to click into the field to enter the code.

    Xero knows that there is an almost 100% likelihood that the first (and only) thing I am going to do on that page is enter the MFA code.

    Xero should automatically have the cursor in that field so that I can type the code without clicking into the field.

    Thanks for the continued support and feedback shared here, everyone. Totally appreciate wanting to save clicks and improve the efficiency of logging in to use Xero.

    Our product team have reviewed this and it's something they'd like to take a closer look into longer term, however isn't roadmapped just yet.

    As soon as there's any progress to update you of I will share with you all.

  18. I would like a link to the Xero portal where tax documents are sent for e-signing. Rather than having to find an email with the link to the Xero portal to e-sign tax documents, it would be helpful for clients to be able to simply click a link within Xero to go back to the Xero portal and see past signed documents or anything that is waiting to be signed.

Amazed to discover that a 'login' from the app on a mobile phone using biometrics for example, does not count as a 'login' at all and is classified by Xero as an 'unlocking' event, but this is not logged or tracked at all (that we users can see). So in effect the 'Login History' in 'Settings' is completely flawed. This is also not recognised in 'History & Notes' unless the user actually makes changes. So if they are just in there viewing stats etc. they are invisible. This is really not ideal.
    I would like to see app logins included…
