Hi everyone, we appreciate the feedback we've received from customers that would like to use Xero to manage their own personal finances.
We want to be open that we don't have plans for developing a specific product for personal use - However, if you'd like to use a Xero business organisation for monitoring your personal finances, you could follow this process for getting set up:
- Set up your 'personal finances' organisation.
- Edit the Chart of Accounts, adding accounts that you would like to use (eg Salary & Wages, Groceries, Insurance Expense), and delete any unnecessary accounts.
- Add your personal bank accounts and import your bank transactions.
You could then use Tracking to create Categories like Income & Expenditure Goals and add the items that you'd like to track, as options within the related category.
The Tracking Summary Report will give you an overview of these 'goals'.
For customers in the…

Hi Larina, we appreciate our customers have different preferences for the bills page they would like to default to and this option is available within the 3 dot menu on the Bills page.
From here you'll be able to set the Awaiting Payment screen as the default.
It's not possible to do this for the Invoices screen atm so I've slightly changed the title of your idea here to reflect that specifically. We'll continue to track the interest here and let you know if there's any progress.

Thanks for your idea, Sarah - We'll get a sense of the interest here.
Perhaps in the meantime you could look to use the Archive and restore options for an account in your chart of accounts as a way of managing this?

I would love to be able to not accidentally add to a prior year's director's loan account! I do the same with regards to Div7a incurring accounts (append or prepend the financial year it relates to) because it makes it explicit when the full amount in that financial year has been accounted for.

Hi Claire, I've tried replicating your scenario here using both a newly created and an existing repeating template.
In both cases when I open an invoice that has been generated from the template and credit is available I can see an option on the invoice to Apply credit (as shown in my image)
Could you please raise a case on this with our Xero support team on Xero Central. They have tools to be able to look into this deeper and confirm what's going on and why credit is not appearing for application in your invoices.

Hi community - There are a few shortcuts that can help you get around and create transactions from many screens in Xero.
The '+' icon next to Search in the blue banner enables you to create a range of different document types, similarly there are shortcuts that can be entered in Search from the blue navigation bar that will take you to different features for example entering 'r' you can quickly select and be taken to 'All reports'
Are there other specific shortcuts you'd want to see here?

@Kelly maybe create credit note(s), create payrun, and create leave request? I use all of those much more frequently than manual journals (which Xero reminds me every time I create one that only accountants should do them) and I almost never use quotes (although I know my clients do) or transfer money (which I do from the bank feed and not prior to having created the transfer at the bank).

Hi Freya, rounding back across your idea here I wanted to check if you're still noticing this behaviour? The page should be responsive, so if you're only viewing on part of the screen you shouldn't find contents spilling over the table. Appreciate you trying to share a screenshot here, however if you're still getting the same as you've noted I'd recommend raising this with our Xero Support team so our specialists can investigate and escalate to our team if needed.

Hi @Kelly
The table overspill has corrected for all but repeating bills; I thought the issue of padding around the tickybox had not been corrected, but now toggling the compact/not compact option alters all bills pages views at the same time (except repeating bills, where compact view remains unavailable)

Rephrase: I'm finding this to be most true when my window fills the screen.
I just tiled two windows side by side in order to attempt to get you a screenshot of all bills next to bills awaiting payment, and bills awaiting payment is greying out on the right hand side, where the table is spilling over the edge of the window instead of adjusting to the window size as you would expect good adaptive or responsive layout design to do. I would expect that it wouldn't be doing so if I could reduce the font size to match the table headers, but I can't, so this page is unusable on anything but full size windows. I'm not buying two more monitors just so I can review things next to each other!

@Alice Fitch I'm not looking to rename a custom report, I'm looking to rename a PUBLISHED report, so that my client no longer has a list of published reports that says:
- Bank reconciliation
- Activity Statement
- Financial report
- Activity Statement
- Activity Statement
- Bank reconciliation
- Bank reconciliation
...etcI want to be able to edit the filename of published reports so that I know WHICH bank account the reconciliation report is for (we also have a standardised 6 and 8 digit date code for filing purposes so each of those reports can be readily searched for by the period it covers - searching for "December 2023" finds me the reports published in that time period and anything for the period '1 October 2023 to 31 December 2023' but not the activity statement for '1 Oct 2023 to 31 Dec 2023')

In Australia, the equivalent of a Buyer Created Invoice is a Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI) and we are also required to withhold tax from payments to suppliers if they have not supplied us with an ABN (so we can't verify that they're registered or not) and we're paying more than AU$75 as per the rules from the ATO, but we are also required to provide the supplier with a Payment Summary detailing how much PAYG tax has been withheld:
