NO NO NO. This is a terrible idea. Xero, please don't mess with bills. They work fine just as they are. Autosave on invoicing is a nightmare. If you want consistency, please don't have autosave on either.

Hi everyone, we appreciate and thank you for contributing to product ideas. The implementation of autosave in new invoicing originally came from feedback we received from our community - Many customers entering invoices, where their data could be lost if they closed the window or logged out of Xero accidentally.
With the move from classic to new invoicing in the past year we appreciate hearing more feedback on this feature from our community. There are differing points of impact that you’ve shared, and is all highly valuable information to our product teams.
However, to set a realistic expectation we want to be honest that we don’t have any planned work for removing auto save.
If you find something you suspect could be a bug and isn’t working correctly in autosave, we recommend raising this with our Support team via Xero Central and providing details - This way our team can…

Re this comment: For the time being, as autosave kicks in once you add a contact to your invoice, if you’d really like to prevent your invoice from saving as you're entering data you could avoid adding the Contact until you're ready for Save to kick in.
This is patronising nonsense.
Of course we would really, really, pretty pleasey like to prevent our invoices from autosaving (unless we are just making this up to give ourselves high blood pressure?!!!)
As we have already stated many, many times, we bring info from the customer contact, so it's not reasonable to not add them at the end of the start of a new invoice. Also this makes the workflow more ridiculous than it is already.
Most of us work systematically from top to bottom, left to right. So your suggestion means more navigating up and down and around the houses.
Shame on you for suggesting this. Just shows another lack of understanding how finance professionals work. PITIFUL, Xero!!!

Thank you, Scott Leonard. This is indeed a huge relief for those of us that cannot use New Invoicing in its current state. I'm not sure if Xero realise how much stress and anxiety this bungled rollout has caused. Why on earth have you dragged your feet for so long when it was clear that the New Invoicing was not ready or fit for purpose? As individuals dealing with this, Xero has caused an immense amount of both personal worry and business stress. Do you think an apology might be in order?

@Scott Leonard. How rude of Pat at Xero support. You asked for support on a critical invoicing issue and he/she/they basically told you to ******** and go read something about quotes. This isn't support or customer service. Pat at Xero support needs to go back to school and learn some manners as well as some basic accounting skills. Invoices and quotes serve greatly different purposes in an accounting system.

Hi community, thanks for getting involved here and letting us know the importance around being able to see the details whenever an invoice is sent from Xero. We understand the importance of this to our customers and our product team are beginning to review this idea to solve needs in this space. We'll move to Under review and I'll let you know as there's more progress here. Thanks

"Beginning to review this idea"...ffs Xero this is a critical compliance issue. We simply MUST have a correct audit trail for invoices. It's not really an idea at all but a critical missing feature in new invoicing that was working perfectly in Classic.

Hi team, appreciate wanting an update - I'm pleased to share the beta went well and we've now launched international bill payments for our UK customers, making it easier to pay overseas suppliers.
Using open banking, UK businesses can now securely send money to 180+ countries including Europe (EUR), America (USD) and Australia (AUD). So you don't have to juggle multiple platforms or hidden fees. Whether you're paying a single bill or multiple bills at once, you can authorise payments prepared by your team and easily track which suppliers have been paid.
We’re committed to new ways to expand our bill payments feature for small businesses and their advisors in other regions by leveraging new technologies, where available. I'll keep you updated of any further developments for this, here.

I also agree with Andrew. Xero, you have missed the point yet again!
We pay our FX directly through NAB to take advantage of the exchange rate fluctuations. All we want from Xero is the ability to do a batch for those paid invoices so we can send remittance advice on the day and not wait until the following day to reconcile the bank. We also 'pay' a lot of foreign invoices via a clearing account as it comes off our remittance for invoices we've issued. We do not actually make the payment but would like to use the batch method to record it.Claire Parker supported this idea ·

This would be super useful for our business too. I guess the contacts bank account details would need to include fields for SWIFT codes etc. We have several freight forwarders that invoice in both AUD & USD. Would be great to do one batch payment.

No thank you. This is a basic need that should be part of any payroll software. it's not as though it requires any complex coding or development. Pathetic, Xero!

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting to hear from us on this idea and apologies for not commenting sooner. I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.
We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.
As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

Expected, but still disappointing Xero.
One wonders what other "important changes needed in product" are .... Stuffing up AP in the same way as you stuffed up AR with New Invoicing? An error occurred while saving the comment Claire Parker commented
This has been a big issue from the start and it is critical. It's crazy that the credit has to be applied to random invoice(s) before payments can be made. This makes Remittance advice incorrect, and you have to manually type an explanation before sending remittance advices out. The credits are easy to miss when you're doing batch payments, if you don't know they are there. Please Xero, this can't be that hard to fix and your competitors win hands down on this issue.

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

@FionaDavidson YES, I'm worried sick that Xero will f*** up AP as they have AR. I had a chat with some devs a while ago and begged them to not bring these so-called improvements to Bills. It will be the end for any decent sized business. We need a new thread/petition to Xero re Billing before they start with this BS.

I'm struggling with all the pop ups. Why does it pop up a box to say payment terms taken from the contact that you have to dismiss...of course you want payment terms taken from the contact if you have set up your contacts that way. Then another box pops up to say credit available requiring another click to dismiss. After Approving you get another pop up to ask if you want to apply a credit. If this is AI, it should be renamed AS (Artificial Stupidity).

Thanks for your feedback. We are still taking feedback and making changes to New Invoicing ahead of the retirement of Classic. Please make sure to note any specific workflows or features on Xero Product Ideas so we can be sure your workflows are captured. - WSMe: We have been feeding back to Xero for months/years and they have largely ignored all requests.
Pathetic but sadly not unexpected response, Xero.
I feel we are all wasting precious breath here.

Bec Jones nailed it. All of this and more.
New Invoicing is broken and currently unusable. Please can we get a 50% subscription refund as we are only getting half an accounting platform that is workable? God help us all if they even think about touching AP.An error occurred while saving the comment Claire Parker commented
Thanks Paul, and well done on getting some response from Xero.
However, New Invoicing in its current state is unusable. Users are not going to spend hours doing something that should take minutes just so we can send error reports to Xero.
I am all for improvements and am not Xero bashing (Classic Invoicing is the bomb). BUT the rollout is premature. I will happily switch to New Invoicing once it is fit for purpose.
Xero users are paying for Classic invoicing if this is taken away one must question the value of our subscription.
I strongly recommend Xero continue working on New Invoicing but rescind the mandatory cut off date for Classic until all the user concerns have been addressed.
Xero dev team please note that vague platitudes such as "we are working on it" do not cut it with your users. Please tell us exactly what you are working on and why you are making the changes. Bring us on board and I'm sure you will have a much better outcome for everyone. Thank you.An error occurred while saving the comment Claire Parker commented
As mentioned by other users all of the following must be addressed before retiring classic invoicing:
1. default Approve and email - user should be able to select their own default. we would always use Approve and it should be available with one click rather than a dropdown each time
2. date selection - we receive RCTIs after the invoice date. We must be able to input this date on the date field rather then by using drop down.
3. copy invoices should be a default setting to use the same contact
4. invoice screesnshot/attachment should be visible when entering the invoice as we copy and paste much information
5. get rid of the # in invoice number
6. Due date must be calculated from the payment terms set in the contact
7. Files need to be attached from Xero folder
8. Adding payment should be on the same screen – you have plenty of empty space, please fill it with our tried and tested functions. An error occurred while saving the comment Claire Parker commented

I can see why you've created new invoicing, but the improvements are not universally beneficial. For our business, I cannot see any advantages. We don't use any payment methods in Xero (we get paid from one huge customer with hundreds of invoices on a monthly basis). I feel this phasing out of classic invoicing in premature, as there are many of the features we rely on not yet available in new invoicing. I'm all for change when it brings something, but this is just cumbersome and lacking the functionality we love from Xero.

Hi community, we’ve just released some new keyboard shortcuts to new invoicing, that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with some simple keyboard entry options.
There’s a range of different shortcuts that you can explore, and in particular a few that I wanted to call out for ‘Approve’ options that I know will be of most interest to you, here;
- Approve (Ctrl-Alt-A OR Cmd-Opt-A on a Mac)
- Approve & add another (Ctrl-Alt-O OR Cmd-Opt-O on a Mac)
- Approve & print PDF (Ctrl-Alt-R OR Cmd-Opt-R on a Mac)
- Approve & email / send eInvoice (Ctrl-Alt-E OR Cmd-Opt-E on a Mac)
While you get used to the combinations of shortcuts our product team have added small prompts to highlight these in the product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can see them all on Xero Central.

Another bug to report...when you type in the first few letters of the contact it brings up other contact options with absolutely no bearing on the letters typed. Thereby causing an extra couple of clicks to select the correct contact. I've never ever experienced a search option so flawed.

Hi Kelly, Thanks for the feedback, but this is hugely disappointing. Xero is basically telling us to take it or leave it.
Would either of the following be possible work arounds: 1. create a false email address for your customer and email invoices into oblivion, or 2. Enter a batch of invoices saved only, and later approve all at one go instead of toggling the approve and send option every single time?Claire Parker supported this idea ·

All our invoices are RCTIs - we never send them out. Need to remove this default option for me, please.

Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to.
We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.
We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land.
An error occurred while saving the comment Claire Parker commented
Look at the state of this screen. Its an utter mess. Why are the notes showing changes that are completely irrelevant, why was an invoice number created and need to be changed? Why was it created with $0.00 and then changed. I was simply entering the details on my invoice, not making changes. We would never use online payments method so this needs to be removable. Sorry but this is garbage.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the possible solution we shared a few months ago. After careful consideration taking all feedback on board, we will not be moving forward with this solution.
We're still considering how we might solve for the issues presented here over the long term and there are other pieces of work the team are currently delving into such as duplicate bills detection that may also help solve some needs here.
That said, we'll move the idea back to Submitted and continue to keep you updated on any progression that can help the needs expressed through the idea here. Thanks

It's good to know the small changes that can make a difference to our customers. Thank you for all sharing with us on the idea, here. Our team are looking into a solution at the organisation level, that'd enable you to remove the Date from footer for all reports exported to PDF. While they explore this we'll move the idea to Under review and I'll be back to share more as this moves along.

Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for…An error occurred while saving the comment Claire Parker commented
Hi Xero, with the upcoming retiring of Classic invoicing in September with no suitable replacement as yet, many customers have expressed their intention to move away from Xero as it no longer meets our needs.
The only issue holding my company back from migrating on 1st July, is how to retrieve all the attached files in AP, invoicing and spend/receive money transactions.
Having been a huge fan of Xero since inception we have trusted you to assist with our transition to paperless by utilising the attach files function in Xero.
As we are required to keep these records for 5-7 years, we will need to hold on to Xero in some form or another if a bulk download of files is not possible.
Please look at this again to give the customers you have alienated a feasible migration outward process.Or can you please advise how these files will be retained to be retrieved, if required, for an audit.
Thank you.

Great idea. This would be really useful. Most of our employees work different days and hours. It would be great if this could also translate to employee leave requests as I almost always have to manually change them from the 7.6 hour day default.

Hi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews and sharing further feedback through direct…Claire Parker supported this idea ·

497 votesThanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't…Claire Parker supported this idea ·

NO No NO! Please don't hinder our invoicing any further by implementing this. I voted Not at all, but please know it is critical that this is not even considered.
