  1. I have used both the old & new GoCardless/Xero integrations. I thought the old one was great from an automation perspective if you were able to automate contact creation and this would automatically match the direct debit with the contact.

    Unfortunately, the new integration is quite restricted and an auto-match will only be done if the DD mandate is created directly from an invoice in Xero. This makes things very difficult from a scalability perspective and makes the new GoCardless/Xero integration unworkable.   3. XERO Projects, Could contact details i.e email addresses and phone number be assigned to a specific project, these would normally be different from the original company contacts details. This would mean the right persons would receive the invoices or quotes sent from a particular XERO project. Could this be done within the project tab.

  4. I need to be able to set a number of pays for recurring payroll deductions.
    For example; my employee buys a laptop under salary sacrifice and wants to pay it back over a specified number of pay cycles.
    At the moment I need to track this manually to ensure that the deduction is removed at the right time. It would be great if the software could do this for me.

  5. When purchasing product from clients we issue them with a hand-written Buyer Created Invoice on farm & then need to input this into Xero as a bill payment. But this doesn't show that it was a buyer created invoice. Please can this option be added

  6. It would save us so much time if there was an option to turn off debtor statements per contact just like we have the option to turn off invoice reminders. That way when sending statements we can bulk send without having to send them one at a time.

    Interesting idea - we'll continue tracking interest here. 🙂 In the meantime I did want to highlight how you can send multiple statements at once and may help some here. 


    While it's not possible to set a default for each contact, you can currently send statements to multiple users at once - 

    From your Contact lists either select all, or just the contacts you'd like, select the 3 menu dots in the top right of the page where you'll see an option to 'Send statements'.

    • When clicked this will take you to the statements screen where you can further refine the lists of contacts you'd like to send a statement too
  7. Ability to upload changes to existing invoices via csv.

    Currently - When uploading a list of invoices that already exist, Xero will not allow the upload to continue. This feature would mean, that for any invoice that exists already, Xero would prompt the user whether they would like to update changes for existing invoices or not.

    Purpose example - For invoices that need to have changes applied, for example amending the due date to an agreed revised payment due date. This change would enable the user to bulk update instead of needing to open each invoice manually and edit each…

  8. We use another software programme which exports all our customer details and invoices etc into Xero automatically. The other programme uses Google to create addresses. A lot of the addresses include te reo, so include macrons. When the text is imported into Xero the macrons cause non-recognition of the characters, so we end up with a mess.
    Surely in this modern world, Xero, an Aotearoa, New Zealand, developed programme, can be made to recognise our indigenous (Official) language, and allow correct te reo spellings.

    Hi Karin, would it be possible to get a few more examples of names that you've tried to import and not have show with macrons? 

    One of our team have tested creating a contact via import with the name Whakatāne (/mækrn, me-/) and this created a contact in Xero as shown in this image. 

    It'd be great to better understand and see if we can look into this a bit more. 

  9. Turn off rounding in payroll deductions and superannuation in Pay Template. Is it possible to turn off rounding for payroll deductions in pay templates, as we have defined benefit member salary sacrifice percentage rates that are more than two decimals and Xero automatically rounds down or up which creates the designated ATO rate lower or higher than specified. Also payroll deduction amounts for Novated Leasing for pre and post tax amounts are rounding down or up to an amount which then we will have to create a journal later to fix the incorrect amount being direct debited from our bank…

  10. For internal control reasons the 'invoice settings' section should be only accessible for certain access types. Anyone with Xero access (excl read only) can go and adjust the bank account manually entered on the invoices sent to customers.

    It would be great to have this locked the same way bank account admin is for supplier payments.

  12. Since the new contact layout was introduced, you cannot save an attention name without there being an address in the address field. Sometimes we do have a company name, contact name and no address.

  14. Create the ability to allocate payroll items (eg Wages & Super) to multiple sets of tracking categories within payroll.

    The only way that wages can be allocated to tracking categories is via timesheets or Journals (and only one set of tracking categories is able to be included in the timesheet).

    This would be really helpful for many NFP's who require the ability to use two sets of tracking categories for all their expenses including Wages & Super (One set of tracking categories for departments and another for funding sources/grants).

  15. Showing profit of Loss on Trial Balance (at both Client XERO Blue and advisor) Reports

    At present the trial balance report does not show profit or loss, can or will XERO recode the report in client reports(XERO Blue) and in the advisor templates. This is something I believe all accountants and bookkeepers will welcome the change, as the would improve workflow.
    Please refer to trial balance from competitors software (has printed that way for over 30 years)

  16. Some of our customers are paying upwards of 100 invoices at one time. The ability to import a csv into Xero (that can be extracted from the remittance advice provided from the customer) would save a lot of processing time instead of manually using the Find & Match feature in the bank rec screen.

  17. Before the update there were two greyed out boxes, when hovered over revealed the employee full salary and earnings to date - this was very handy when the salaries are based on an hourly rate. Where has this function gone? and can we have it back please.

  18. Description Field with the bank narration

    This happened as a couple of newer client and new to xero in the contact field wrote something incredibly different to the bank narration which makes it very difficult to review the general ledger information.

    For example in the General Account the transactions descriptions are all listed as "John Smith" when if the bank narration option was available I could see it is Officeworks, KFC, etc and this would make it easier to realise these are miscoded and reallocate.

  19. The Xero bulk invoice import template makes provision to allow for the population of data into the available tracking categories that would correspond to same inside Xero. However, is it possible to do same with a project? Xero have since confirmed it is not possible to include project allocations when importing invoices.

    We have a high frequent need to import bulk lines of data each representing individual invoices, and we wish to use Xero projects, but need to be able to allocate the bulk upload of these invoices to the applicable projects inside Xero.

  20. Update inventory when it is posted as an expense to a project as this makes more sense as clients use the project reports to calculate WIP and it is annoying to have to constantly check which inventory figures have been applied and deduct this from the inventory. It also means when projects are billed this actually reduced the stock figure as this only happens when you invoice the project for the tasks and expenses whereas currently invoicing using the project amount does not update the inventory.
