Bank Reconciliation - Show more statement lines per page
Ability to show more statement lines during reconciliation in one page.
Purpose: To save users time from scrolling and changing the page.
Thanks again, everyone! I can now confirm we've officially released these changes to all users. 🤗
As a quick recap of what's been released - From the Reconcile page your bank account now shows up to 50 statement lines at once. There is also a search bar at the top of the page where you can enter details from your statement lines including; Payee, Reference, Description, Transaction type, Cheque No. and Analysis code. Within the search you have filters to help you narrow down the date range or amounts that you want to reconcile - For more insight on recent changes see our Blog.
We really appreciate your engagement of this over time and sharing with us through the Product Ideas site, here.

The extra line items is a good idea but what also would be good is when you go to the next page it starts at the top again. Currently when you hit next you're presented with the bottom of the page so you have to scroll to the top again, which takes longer due to there now being up to 50 line items available. Also, as mentioned in another post possibly is to have the next page/previous/next buttons present at the top as well. This would also be useful on the bank statement tab too. Thank you

As per other Xero pages, it would be great if the Reconcile pages listing items to be reconciled would allow more than 10 items per page. It' quite clunky moving between the pages when there are multiple pages.
A search function would be helpful too.
Thanks :) -

We are approaching two years on the most voted issue on this forum.... can you get it done??

Hello to those who hopefully have notifications on this top-voted idea. I have voted on this, and in return, I am hoping a few of you could vote on another idea, which is to sort out permissions so we can restrict "junior admin" from seeing business sensitive data like salary payments, bank balances, reports etc. At the moment, this is not a feature. Your business may be small now, but as it grows, this is something you will need. Here is the link, and thank you :) https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/44960731-user-role-restrict-access-to-specific-settings

Hi Ethan
I have just had clarity by talking to XERO support.
I now understand that XERO has parts of it written in older code (old technology - not quite as old as DOS but definitely not as new as Window 11).
And that some of these suggestions would be a waste of money to add now as it would be on old code. Until that section of XERO is upgraded, there is not point doing the improvement.
I think I understood that this section of XERO is on old code. Can you please advocate for us to have this improvement done on the WEBSITE by getting this code upgraded ASAP
Can you find out if we have to wait 12 months or will it be 24 months? I am sure that Accountants, Bookkeepers and Administration staff would all benefit from this function. This function will benefit a vast variety of your Customers.
I also think XERO needs to communicate better on these matters. Code upgrade is not easy, fast or cheap. That said, keep listening to the Customers and let us know if the enhancements suggested are on old code or not. This might help Customers to understand and explain the importance of XERO investing in the code upgrade sooner than later.
With rising costs in labour, software subscriptions, additional regulation etc, having a software that is NOT making our life easier, is defeating the point of having software (rant finished)

This is literally your most commented on feature request. Why are you ignoring what your users are asking for?
It's a *WEBSITE*. This isn't rocket surgery.

I agree - totally pointless. We are a small business and I tried the app on my android tablet (was working from home one week when I had a cold).
The app was SO BAD that I deleted it, and instead used a webpage on my tablet instead as the desktop version is much better than the app. And even the desktop version was worse when using a tablet. Now I always use a laptop unless I have completely no other choice.
So stop trying to push the rubbish app, and fix the desktop version please!!!

What a pointless update. If we wanted an in app function to show more lines, we would have asked for it. We asked for more lines in the desktop program, so as far as I can see, there is no update for the specific issue raised.
Totally useless. Xero...perhaps spend time focussing on the end user issues rather than wasting money on developing an app that larger companies find ineffective.

So it would appear that these product ideas are nothing than an attempt to make it look like XERO are listening and looking for the users input!
There are so many basic functions that are missing on XERO.I have supported and put comment to on these ideas and there has been no response! Can't say I was expecting this response!
So I have looked at the app and yes it does seem to load a reel of the bank transactions - useful yes! If you want to sit and scroll through 700 + transactions on a phone! Now if we can make the app do this why are we not making it an option for those that don't want the eyestrain! You can only imagine the joy at receiving an email today informing of price increases. Could we maybe implement some of the basic functions that would benefit the masses of users instead of the vanity projects that make a few happy!
If it wasn't for 1 missing function on another package I think I would be looking to jump ship from XERO!

Sadly yet another example of Xero's inability to read the room. I doubt many app users asked for more lines on the bank reconciliations.
You would have thought by now that Xero realised who their main users are - Bookkeepers/Accountants
Very disappointing

"We’ve just rolled out some changes to in-app reconciliation that could also be relevant to this group."
Irrelevant really isn't it?
I don't think Xero thought about the message given with this update, it has apparently improved something in app and left behind the accountants and bookkeepers with multiple clients.
We are not using the app between clients. Even given the size of some mobile devices these days you are not going to find accountants and bookkeepers sitting doing work full time on a mobile device. I suspect many of us have multiple screens and the larger the better.

Xero are you joking.
You are meant to be setting yourself up as a provider of accounting software for businesses!
We aren't even a large business bit we are never going to use that mobile app to work day to day. its great if you just want to upload a receipt and take photo at the same time, but seriously reconciliation is never going to be done on a app!
It strikes me that all these terrible visual changes are you attempting to make the mobile app better when in reality I would imagine 99% of users on here want the desktop to work and be an efficient way to do our jobs day to day.Im seriously starting to doubt that Xero have any idea who their customers are.
Go on Xero be brave and put a poll out to ask the people paying to do bookkeeping, invoicing, reconciliation and credit control how many want to use (or will use) the app.
We work at desks and use desktops!!

I totally agree with the other comments on here that make the point that the app is most likely being used by smaller business owners etc that have only a few transactions to reconcile at a time and therefore won't need the extra transactions on the page.
Rather than spend time working on the app, I think it would be much more appreciated if you could do some work on the desktop version to implement what a LOT of your users are asking for.
Xero could be so much better if you listened to users and implemented some of their suggestions rather than following your own plan as it seems you are doing at the moment!

I saw in my emails that Xero had commented on this, and got really excited!
Then I read their update and wept.
How difficult can it be to adjust the view from 10 per page to 'X' per page, with a search function. Onwards I continue wasting hours of labour every month because this basic functionality isn't in place.

If Xero are working on the more statement lines issue(s), can they possibly look at generable usability of the reconcile screen.
This other ongoing issue causes issues when trying to reconcile/view details on statements, seems a bad UI design/BUG:

There’s an app? Who knew?
About 1% of users probably.
This ‘update’ is not quite useless but it’s as near as *******! -
Linda Bates commented
Great functionality for the minority that use the app, please sort the bank reconciliation experience for the majority of bookkeepers who log in via the browser, we need to see more statement lines, be able to filter, match credit notes, create bank rules for overpayments, cash coding bulk reconciliation of bank transfers amongst other feature requests we are crying out for!
Come on Xero developers team, this can't be so difficult!!!
-
Julia Bastin commented
Wonderful, once again Xero completely fails to understand the issue and then they "fix" the wrong thing. Are they obtuse on purpose??
-
Craig C commented
The 2/8/23 update from Xero clearly demonstrates that Xero do not understand the issue and the target audience.
The App maybe used by micro businesses with a few bank transactions per day paying single invoices. These App users would not see the issue in the first place, so why fix something that the App userbase wouldn't see.
The Xero users (book keepers) reporting this are reconciling many bank transactions, maybe payments for multiple invoices. They will be using Xero in a browser.
Xero have proposed a 'work around' for the wrong type of users that are reporting the issue.
