  1. We should be able to adjust the holiday year to the UK tax year as that seems to be very common. ( There is already a discussion topic for this but I cannot see it on this list.
    We should also be able to show holidays in days not hours.
    We should be able to calculate holiday hours for employees that do not do a 5 day week. The hours taken on holiday need to be overwritten every time a PT employee books time off.

    Hi community, happy to share that these changes have now been released in UK Payroll! 🎉 You now have the ability to set employee's leave to accrue based on a custom date of your choosing. We appreciate your inputs and based on the feedback we've made a change so that leave will now accrue on the first day of your annual accrual method.

  2. Currently Xero is set up to nil off both the Employer NI Expense GL and Liability GL as soon as payroll is run because employers NI contribution is always setoff against HMRC allowances.

    However, it is important to have employers NI contribution cleared only when remittances are made to HMRC and when HMRC send allowances (which is always a month accrued). The allowances are setoff against the employers NI expense GL.

    This treatment will allow the accountant to respond to remittances made to HMRC in terms of employers NI and allowances received from HMRC accordingly.

  4. Would be great if the days per week and the hours per day could be for each day rather than a total amount. Sarah does a total of 30 hours per week
    Monday - 0hours
    Tuesday - 6 hours
    Wed- Fri - 8 hours per day
    but because we cant specify what days we have had to go 4 days per week with total hours per day 7.5. This is confusing to look at but we also have to remember when it is a public holiday to change it. Would be good if we could specify the hours…

    Hi everyone, you can now create new working patterns for employees which allow you to add in the specific days and hours they are contracted to work!

    This improves the default hours used in calculations around public holidays, leave requests, the first pay, the last pay and when working patterns change during the pay period. Thanks again for all your feedback on this here.

  5. A number of my client are service businesses and as such all of the payroll costs should be posted either to a Cost of Sale account for Operational staff or Overhead for support staff. I can achieve this for all costs except for Employer NIC cost, which has to be manually moved. It would be beneficial if the NIC could go to an NIC GL dependent upon the type of basic pay chosen.

  6. Our payroll requirements vary across the year as we are very seasonal. It would be useful to be able to 'select all' or 'deselect all' when selecting who to pay when setting up a pay run. Having to deselect about 30 of 35 staff one by one is painful!

  7. It would be beneficial for clients who pay commissions to be able to customise the description on the pay slip (rather than showing just 'Withholding Income') or having to set up various 'Pay Items'.

  9. When booking more than one days holiday Xero does not allow you to edit the hours taken. Xero assumes everyone works a 5 day week. So if a part time employee who works 5 hours a day 3 days a week totalling 15 hours books two days holiday Xero assumes they will be taking just 6 hours when it should be 10. There is not an option to amend the hours taken like there is if you just book 1 day.

    Hi community, with the recent change in UK Payroll to introduce working pattern templates so now you can now create default work schedules for employees, ensuring their pay and leave are calculated correctly. You can have up to 100 templates with up to 13 weeks of entries. 

    Working patterns provide visibility around earnings rate calculations and will eliminate the need to amend miscalculations manually.

  10. Could we have the ability to add the amount paid to a Deduction.

    (A staff member messaged me the other day asking if the $450 showing on his pay slip was the amount he had left to pay for tools deductions or the amount he had paid. After checking I saw it was the amount he had paid and he has $468.93 left to pay.)

    Q: Is there any way to add the amount he has left to pay for tools to the pay slip.

  14. Currently we have employees and contractors paid fortnightly through payroll. When printing annual earnings certificates the cert list contractors as employees rather than contractors and scores xero's for kiwisaver deductions and other taxes etc.

    We need to be able to print different annual earnings certs that reflect info for employees, and reflect info for contractors with different titles on cert as contractor, not employee.

  16. Ability to draft future payruns - ie more than 1 darft payrun. Especially at Christmas time. I would like to draft up future payruns before Igo on leave, but still have the ability to adjust this week payrun for overtime etc. At the moment I can't move forward until I complete current payrun. or i have to do un unscheduled payrun to fix it. Very time consuming

    Hi team, we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans for enabling the ability to create multiple draft pay runs in NZ Payroll.

    If this is something you'd like to see developed for NZ Payroll please add your vote here and we will continue to get a sense of the overall interest from community, and can share if there are any plans made.

  17. UK HMRC often carry out routine checks on compliance with PAYE and National Minimum Wage. In one NMW check we have been asked to provide them with a list of the names and NINOs of all staff employed by us between two specified dates. To make it easy they dont use tax years but calendar dates

    We need a standard payroll report that allows us to export a list with the employees name and NINO. The only way to create this at the moment is by a manual trawl

    Currently you can generate a Pension Contribution Report which includes the employees name and NINO 🙂 When creating the report - under Columns select the fields you'd like to include in the report as well as the date range. Once created, you can export it in PDF, Excel or Google Sheets. 

  18. When entering information on time sheets for employees, the ability to hit "next" to move onto the next employee once you have approved the time sheet rather than having to go back out to the main timesheet menu, find the appropriate timesheet on the drop down list & go back in to enter the timesheet for the next employee.

    Hey all, 👋  thanks for your support on this idea and sorry for the late update. I’m popping in to switch it across to delivered for our AU users!
    Just before the end of the year, we rolled out the option for employees to archive their rejected leave requests in Xero Me web.

  20. There is currently an option for a DEA to be table based when setting it up, however this doesn't do any of the calculations for the DEA. Instead, they need to be calculated manually & entered as a fixed amount. There is also no way of keeping track of the amounts deducted until the total has been paid within Xero, this also has to be done manually. This can especially be difficult if the employee's pay varies each period.
