Notification | Email reminder for VAT submission deadline
Given that the HMRC reminders are non-customisable, sporadic and could be taken away at any time, could we please develop email reminders for VAT submission deadlines in Xero?
80 votesThanks for sharing this feedback. We agree that email notifications for upcoming VAT return deadlines would be useful, and we do plan to address this in the future. However, we’re unable to provide a timeframe for when this will be available at this stage.
In the meantime, the VAT homepage widget shows your next return due date, along with a countdown showing the number of days remaining until the deadline.
If you’re a Partner, you can also use Tax manager to view a list of your clients’ upcoming VAT obligations in one place, including their due dates.
We appreciate you taking the time to share this suggestion with us. 🌟

Reporting - Option to remove the Date from the Footer of all reports
The print date that now appears at the bottom of reports is useful for some reports and circumstances, and I understand this date is now turned off for Published Reports.
However we do not 'publish' our financial statements - we send our financial statements to clients in a practical and informative pack instead. This is a more efficient, professional and streamlined approach for us.
Showing the print date on these financial statements is of concern, due to various issues including the lag time between preparing and approving the report. It is also not ideal when preparing the directors resolution and…
77 votesHi team, while this may be something we look to do in the future unfortunately we were not able to move along with the work the team had started exploring here.
We'll move to Accepted for now and if there are any updates I'll be back to share with you all. Thanks and continue to support this idea if it's something you'd like to see.

AU - Manually edit AU GST on transactions
In Australia, users need to be able to manually edit the amount of GST paid on a transaction. This is required because certain transactions (particularly grocery and pharmacy transactions) have a mixture of items, some of which have GST applied, and some that do not. Unfortunately, the receipts for these types of transactions do not indicate which specific items have incurred GST - they just have a total amount of GST paid on that receipt. As such, it would be great if users could just override the total amount of GST paid for those receipts. See attached for an example…
75 votesHiya team, we appreciate the interest this idea has built up, and do want you to know this has been a topic of discussion for our teams.
While manual tax adjustments is available in some regions, considering local best practice we have no plans of expanding manual tax adjustments on transactions to AU based organisations.
We appreciate there can be circumstances where a transaction differs by a few cents due to rounding and would recommend using manual journals to post and make corrections where required.
We get this isn't the outcome you'd most like to receive, but want to be upfront with you all on this here. Thanks

Reporting - Saved customised report layout across common formats
Been trailing the new reports format and when setting up a custom group account layout for a Profit and Loss report we can't use this layout across Common Formats of Profit and Loss. This feature was available in the old reports that once a custom layout was created it worked on all formats. Been advised that would need to create a separate custom report for every Common Format

Report Templates | Copy - Client to practice, or client to client
There are a number of Report Templates available in the Client Reports which once adapted would be good to copy either from one client to another or better still from a Client to the Practice Reports, making them available for all clients and they could then be included in Monthly Management Reports.
Currently you can only copy reports within a client or within the Practice Reports and the facility is not available to copy across from one to another
69 votesBack with an update for, everyone 😊We have now enabled the ability to add client-specific custom reports to Adviser packs!
As mentioned in my last update we don't have direct plans for enabling the ability to copy reports from client to client or client to practice report templates.
While this update doesn't completely accomplish what's been directly asked in this idea, we know this is a key feature that'll be highly beneficial to some in this idea in creating more comprehensive reports. Thanks for sharing with us all, here.

Profit & Loss report - Show columns for all tracking options (incl. ones with nil balances)
For the new format of the Profit and loss report, only show the tracking categories that actually have a balance. Therefore do not show with nil balance.
Currently have to adjust the report to remove the relevant columns which is time & $.The old version did this automatically!
69 votesThanks for your feedback on this idea, community. We appreciate you sharing how important consistent Profit & Loss formatting is for your workflows.
As noted by some, currently you can export the report to Excel in order to make adjustments outside Xero as needed.
To confirm, currently, if a tracking option doesn't have transactions in the period, there won't be a column for that option and there isn’t a way to show it on the report.
Being open, we don’t have any plans for changing the current behaviour and capabilities of tracking columns within the Profit & Loss report. We value your feedback and will keep this in mind as we evaluate future reporting enhancements.
That said, there are a few comments within the thread that reference the ability to show accounts that have a nil balance - Earlier this year we released an option within multiple reports to enable…

Reporting - Hiding archived accounts from chart of accounts list when customising report layouts
Hiding archived accounts from chart of accounts list when customising report layouts, perhaps with a tick box to show or hide the archived accounts. It makes the job of customising layouts so tedious when the old messy chart of accounts come up every time and you can’t hide the archived accounts!

Business Activity Statement - To automatically calculate Fuel Tax Credits
Ability to automatically calculate Fuel Tax Credits in the Business Activity Statement.
Purpose: It can save user’s time when calculating fuel tax credit, rather than doing it manually.
69 votesHi community, we appreciate the interest this idea has received. Sorry we haven't engaged with you on this idea sooner.
We understand being able to efficiently track and calculate fuel tax credits is important to you all who've supported this, however we want to be transparent that this isn't a feature we're looking to develop in the near future.
If you haven't already found a means to track this I wanted to share a method that could help. In Xero you could create untracked Inventory Items for each fuel type. When you enter purchases for fuel, you'd select the appropriate item, entering the number of litres into the Qty field, and the price per litre into the Unit Price field.
You could then use the Inventory Summary report to view the quantity of the fuel purchased during a date range.
If there are any changes around this we'll share with you…

Reporting - Filter the Profit and Loss by Contact
When exporting the profit and loss transactions it would be amazing for one of the columns to show the Contact in isolation rather than merging the contact and description into one field. This would allow much easier spreadsheet analysis by contact.
66 votesHi everyone, thanks for being a part of the conversation on filtering Profit and Loss reports by contact. We understand how this could make digging into profitability a bit easier.
There is currently the Income & Expenses by Contact report that’ll show where you’ve incurred expenses or received income or funds for each contact. You could also Group or Filter this report by contact with the ability to drill down to the transactions related to each amount.
Alternatively, some people in the discussion have also kindly shared their method which may help others.
Our product team has reviewed this idea, and while this may be a development we consider in the longer term it isn’t roadmapped at this stage. We’ll continue to keep an ear on the ground here and share if there are any updates.

Bank Accounts - Ability to add a 'Reporting name'
There isn’t the ability to have a ‘reporting name’ for a bank account name on the Chart of accounts
(. e.g. you either have to update the name in the system (problematic for live files where the client names accounts based upon their use and not in out reporting name format) or manually create a group with the correct name when drafting the financials to replace the account name.65 votesThanks for your images showing what you're meaning here, Zoe. Makes it super clear for others and our product teams.
Appreciate it's not the ideal solution but good to hear you're aware of how you can group and rename an account through the Financial reports at present. We'll keep an eye on the interest in this, here.

CIS - Ability to add CIS Codes
Have the option to create nominal codes and assign them to CIS returns to allow for more granular review of costs. E.g. Bricklayer expense, Plumber expense etc.
65 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We appreciate you sharing how important more granular CIS tracking is for your businesses. Some of you have mentioned that you currently use tracking categories to achieve the breakdown required, we understand however this may be suitable for everyone.
After review, we're updating this idea to Not in the pipeline, meaning our product team has considered it but it's not on our foreseeable roadmap. We know this isn't the update you were hoping for, and the idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest.

Manual Journals - Editing journal with auto-reversal to update related journal/s
To have an option to automatically update the reversing journal.
Purpose: To save time and help avoid errors in updating both entries.
62 votesHi community, thanks for your input and support into this idea for auto updating related journals when an auto-reversing journal is edited.
While the team began to look into work involved, priorities have shifted and this is not something we'll be looking to develop at this time.
We'll move the status back to submitted and keep you informed if there is any movement.

General Ledger (detailed) - Quantity column
Hi there, would be awesome to be able to have a column in the detailed general ledger which has the quantities from what you entered in the quantity column when you reconcile the transactions. This is especially important when figured is used with Xero. As it takes a lot of time to go into each transaction and see what the stock quantities are to get the group total.
60 votesHi everyone, we hear your feedback about how viewing quantity within the General Ledger report could help when reviewing transactions. While not specifically within the General Ledger there are a few different reports that can currently be run and may help with this review;
- Inventory Item Details – view quantity on hand of tracked inventory items
- Inventory Item Summary – see quantities purchased and sold for all items, including opening, closing, and adjusted quantities for tracked items
- Sales by Item report – shows quantities sold for inventory items
- Payable Invoice Details report – shows quantities purchased for all line items
- Receivable Invoice Details report – shows quantities sold for all line items
We’ve reviewed this idea but want to be upfront that there aren’t plans in the near term to add quantity as a column to the General Ledger Detailed report.
We’ll keep an eye on the interest this idea…
