New Invoicing - Option to switch Autosave off
I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

I can't understand the dumb logic of the coding behind the need for autosave after every word in a description cell; therefore, there is a delay in completing a simple task. Common sense would tell you to await the end of the full row before initiating autosave.
Presumably, the lag is down to the AI learning processes you are trying to utilise?

Auto-save is completely unnecessary in all but the most specific situations.
In every other scenario is it actively detrimental to efficient workflows.
Normally I'd suggest a toggle wouldn't be hard to implement, but this is Xero, so it's likely three years worth of development away. -

This is one of the worst ideas - autosave is a nightmare and given Classic worked so well they have completely annihilated new invoicing. We shouldn't have to use work arounds for any part of it at all. We should be able to do what we used to do.
Xero just can't admit they've screwed it up badly and instead of giving us all a discount on subscriptions they just keep with the and tell us how they're listening.
If you were listening then fix what we're asking for - turn off the autosave etc.

@Mike Johnston - I've tried that and then as soon as I add a contact, all of the customer defaults kick in and it changes my accounts and tax rates or, if I haven't got any defaults set, deletes them entirely. Either way, it forces me to redo work for no reason other than Xero's dev incompetence.

Autosafe is a very frustrating default function, please Xero, have an option to switch it off, otherwise there are too many versions of the same invoice or a bill and it is extremely unprofessional and confusing!

Sharing this as it might help others frustrated with invoice auto-save (isn't everyone?).
I'm not sure if this is working in every situation but I am now avoiding auto-save by not entering a contact until the last step of invoice creation. most of our invoices are copies of previous month's so I delete the contact out as part of the copying process. Seems to be working much better and faster this way, just entering the contact as the last step before approval/saving.
Here's hoping Xero kills autosave ASAP -

Autosave is ridiculously slow. Other cloud based applications are far superior - perhaps Xero could reach out and find out how to do it properly.

Hi, I was also directed here by Xero Support...Auto-Save has only recently started causing me issues when invoicing. The program slows down to a frustrating rate as it auto-saves after every entry, so to complete one line can take a minute. Try completing an invoice with 40 lines! That's 40 minutes to enter 1 invoice!! Can the auto save be less aggressive, have it do it every 20 seconds not every 3-5 seconds? Thanks

I also have been directed here and not useful at all, i DO NOT want my invoices to auto save, sometimes i need to go into them, then not use them at all for some reason or other, but it takes the invoice and auto saves it anyway! so frustrating!
Even if you go back a page or try to come out of it, it saves it
The old Xero never used to do this, you could come out of them with out any consequence at all
Come on Xero! sort it out, its clearly causing issues for everyoneHeather Plews

I looked at previous ideas where people discussed their lost transactions (bills, invoices, money sped, money received, journals). The annoying thing that Xero does not warn you when you close the browser tab with UNSAVED record. That is the way to lose your records. It does happen to me; I will discover unsaved bills when the suppliers send me their statement.
The proposed decision was to issue a warning (as, for example, Xero does in custom reports when you change the layout) so you won't lose your unsaved record.
Instead of this Xero invented autosave. We did not ask for that.
Please make the autosave optional and create a warning for all type of transactions when we are trying to close the browser tab.

To be fair , the auto save only causes me issues once I reach about 40 lines on the invoice . it slows down to a frustrating rate after 40 lines .May question is can the auto save be less aggressive , have it do it every 20 seconds not every 3-5 seconds like it does now or can we have the option to turn it off and on at out deciding?. not an totally automated feature and being a hinderance , as it is now ?.. its great idea but just too aggressive in its frequency of saving the invoice as is...

auto-save triggers once a customer is added to the invoice so one work-around is to create the invoice (use plus symbol to create new invoice, not through customer account), fill in the invoice details and only then add the customer. not sure this works for everyone but for people using apps like zapier, works well. hope this helps!

I have logged a support ticket and was directed to here. Seems it's a very common problem for everyone! My issue is not resolved, so I guess I'll be keeping my ticket open....

I'd also like the option to turn off Autosave, but for a different reason. When I am completing the fields for an invoice, Autosave causes the focussed field to reset back to Contact name while I am editing other fields, leading to me keying the my value into the wrong field. This is a small but unnecessary pain, especially when I am keying in a batch of 20 or so invoices to Xero. I am currently inclined to add my invoices to a spreadsheet and import them, rather than use the new invoice form.

auto-save function is removing my invoice numbers after i copy them in. Please give us the option to turn off this feature. This is echo'd by many other people within Xero Forums.

Really good points Jim.
Let's work together for change and try to stop the Directors from being captured by Management, as they seem to be at present.

That's a good point, Chris. I might have to look into getting some shares just for that purpose.
Folks, the more we just keep commenting here, the more Xero can just ignore us. We need to start leveraging their system to support our goals.
Each time one of these issues arises, every single person needs to make a support ticket. If they offer no solution, refuse to close the ticket or make a new one.
They will be using a ticket system like Zendesk, and those are used as KPI indicators at high-level meetings with executives...the sort of meetings where KPIs actually mean things and where said KPIs also eventually find their way into annual share reports.
So, if there are a lot of open tickets, questions will be asked as to why...questions whose answers we can affect by refusing to bend to Xero's gaslighting.
We need to start hitting Xero where it will have an impact on those high enough up the ladder that can easily ignore our complaints here in this forum.
Couple that with commenting on every social media post you see to get the word out publicly. For example, every time you see Xero's ad on Facebook for 90% off for new customers, make a comment so other folks see it. I have a templated comment that I post every time I see their ads. I'm already starting to see more activity each time I post it.

ALSO, never forget the AGM!
If you are a shareholder, you can bring up your concerns under General Business
OR
If you can get enough shareholders/shares, you can propose an Agenda Item of "no confidence in the Product Development Team and Directors in managing user requests. This is a non-bonding resolution however the Directors have to respond. I have used this in the past and they do not like it!I did this some time ago in my own name and it got the attention of the Directors.
