  1. Contacts due dates to be set as a standard company wide setting unless changed within the individual contact.

    For example as a company we work on the basis that all payments and receipts are due 30 days from invoice, this should be able to be entered within the company settings and should already be filled in when creating a new contact.

  2. When we receive an email from Approval Max stating that someone has rejected a bill, it has a link to the bill in Xero. When you open the link, there's no way to edit/amend the invoice from this screen.

    Please add an edit button.

    Currently, from this screen, to edit the invoice, we need to go to:
    Bills To Pay > Drafts > search for the invoice > then edit it

    Too many additional steps to edit the invoice, it should be easy from that first link.

    Hi Kelly, thanks for the screenshots. Seeing as this email is sent by ApprovalMax we'd recommend connecting with their support to see if this is something they can change or would consider extending their integration for. Many of our app partners designed and built their integrations with Xero themselves and are best placed to confirm how this works and make changes to it.

  3. Invoice Settings - need to be able to add account number to Quotes. This feature is available for invoices but not for quotes. We currently have to copy and paste the account number from the clients contact details.

    Hi Jamie

    You can include the customer's account number in your quotes if you use an advanced template for them (also known as a Custom DOCX branding theme).

    Our sample quote template includes the «ContactAccountNumber» merge field that adds this onto the quote for you.

    We have a bit if help around this in Xero Central Create an advanced invoice template and: Fields you can insert into an advanced invoice template (it's the same process for quotes), but if you need an extra hand, you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

  4. There should be a way to input dates when we want to split the payment to multiple items (invoices/bills) when we reconcile (e.g. cash code or find and match).

    Right now, if I want to input multiple invoices/bills that is linked to a one payment, all invoices/bills will need to have same date as the payment date which is technically incorrect.

    Hi all, returning to the idea we're going to shift this across to delivered. As noted i my earlier response you can manually enter a payment amount and date of payment on an invoice or bill - Meaning if you need the payment date to differ to the date of the statement line imported this could be manually entered on the invoice or bill pre-hand and matched to the one payment when reconciling.

    Alternatively, when reconciling a transactions through find & match in Xero you have the option to 'split' where you can apply a set amount of the payment to the transaction rather than the full amount.

  5. Hi. We are an International company with various subsidiaries in the UK and overseas. We are using a bespoke accounting system which is not even cloud based. In fact all on the spreadsheets. Designed to serve the purpose. However, It took me a while to persuade our managers to move onto something more advanced, user friendly, that would create all accounts on the platform, not on manual spreadsheets. 
    There are a few downsides I am facing on Xero. This software doesn't have any built in accruals and prepayments invoice system, that could do the accruals and prepayments for you usins the dates…

    Hi Svetlana, thanks for sharing your feedback and thank you for trying Xero. We appreciate you explaining how this could support your international operations. While Xero currently supports managing multiple organisations separately, consolidation of the reports is currently done outside of Xero. With regards to the accruals and pre-payments, we recommend raising a case with our support team as they would be able to look into it a bit more.

  6. Something so simple, can we have the ability to move the add payment pop up window as it pops up and blocks the invoice data like the reference number..... LOL.
    Working on a laptop, I have to close the window to copy the reference of the invoice then go back to it, again, something so simple, that makes things harder

    Thanks for your response, Elsa. If the user has access to the organisation you could share the browser URL of the invoice or bill you're on. This contains a transactions ID. The user would need to be logged into Xero and then when they go to that link it'd open that invoice.

    I guess the second part of your idea here when you mention the hyperlink - Is there somewhere specific or a method you're using that you'd want to share the link?


  8. It would be great to have the functionality for Partners/Accountant to be able to view Xero Go files as you would in a cashbook, ledger or business edition organisation, by seeing a preview of the document without having to download it.

    This was the case when Xero Go was initially came out and only an odd invoice needed downloading, now it is all of them, across various clients.

    I would take a guess there may be an issue with the app and photos it takes, these are jpeg and should just come up automatically when we view them. A fix…

    Hi community, thanks for engaging with us here on Xero Product Ideas. As you'll have recently seen in our communications - We have spent the last year testing and refining Xero Go and after completing a careful review to understand the future of the product, we found greater investment was required to meet the changing customer needs and expectations around the product.  As a result, we will be retiring Xero Go on 12 September 2024, and will move this idea to not planned.  We really appreciate the support from you all who have been using the app during this free period.

    • Manual Journal Report (ability to extract manual journal entries with user details - for audit purpose)
    • Adding company logo/image in Management Reports (reporting and presentation requirements)
    • Payment Batch checker (to verify batch summary that was loaded in the bank. Reduce the risk of file being replaced by staff)
    • 'Comma' to be displayed in 'Qty' column when generating invoices (better view of invoices to the reader)

    We appreciate your feedback about The manual journal report (this is already in existence in Xero with the details you set out) Adding a Logo to Management reports, and Payment Batch checker. However, we don't accept ideas that have multiple request in one post. Can you please split these ideas for each feature and/or area of Xero you'd like to see this developed for, so we can gauge support and keep users updated.

    Hi Lukasz, what payment provider do you use? Just incase you haven't seen we've launched Tap to Pay powered by Stripe which is now available in a few different regions.

    In terms of connecting to direct payment terminals, this would typically be through an integration. We don't generally develop integrations with applications ourselves however you may want to see if there's an integration in the app marketplace that works with your provider and could offer the services you're after here.

  10. When paying a supplier bill, there should be a back button to get back to the same supplier to continue paying more of that suppliers outstanding bills due for payment once a payment has been made. Currently once you have paid a single bill for a supplier, you have to go back to the bills page and search for another bill or search for the supplier again, it takes twice as long as it should and makes more room for error (our company like many others i would guess need to check each bill against the products we ordered with…

    Hi team, appreciate the interest and sharing your idea in the forums here. We recently released enhancements to the Bills quick view (eye icon) from the list of bills. You'll find you can now edit and make payments on bills from the quick view without having to leave your list of bills. Meaning you can jump from one bill to the next with ease!

  11. In the Xero interface, both an Invoice and a Bank Transaction can be given a tax adjustment, e.g. to resolve a rounding error.

    Via the API, only an Invoice can be given a tax adjustment. If sending a POST request with the exact same structure/data to create a Bank Transaction, the tax adjustment is ignored.

    This doesn't make sense given that the tax adjustment on the Bank Transaction is possible via the UI.

    Please amend this so that API POST requests to create Bank Transactions respect the TaxAmount field on the Line Item.

    Hi Virgil, thanks for your feedback on API tax adjustments. It’s helpful to understand where you’re seeing a gap between the UI and what’s currently possible through the API.

    We’ve moved this idea to Feedback, which means it’s now closed for votes and comments. Because this relates specifically to API functionality, the best next step is to raise it in our developer community, where the team who work directly with API enhancements can review it in more detail.

    If you can share your workflow and how this limitation affects your integration when you post there, it will help provide useful context for the developer community.

  12. When sending an invoice from a mobile device, remove the “send me a copy” button, or at least let us make a one time adjustment to stop having to turn it off every single time.

    Appreciate letting us know how we could improve your flow when working from the Xero Accounting app, Joshua. Our team have just released a change for iOS to align with the Android behaviour.

    Now, when you send an invoice or a quote, the 'Send me a copy' field will be unchecked by default.🙂

  13. Product/Inventory - Template Parent Item Line.
    Would hugely time saving to be able to add multiple item lines with one click.
    Clicking on a parent item which has selected item lines attached.
    These multiple item lines are the items that would be used on every invoice, creating an item line template so to say.

  14. Sales Overview screen needs improving to show percentage increase in invoices sent, month on month. Attached is an example to show how it needs to be drastically improved to be like. Companies basically could raise capital off this screen - come on Xero! Please improve the screen to be like this example.

  15. If I use the Receive Money option from the menu: when selecting the customer I would like Xero to give me an option to SELECT INVOICE to apply money to OR create a new transaction. Much easier than going to customer - add payment etc. Again look for some inspiration from other products.

    Hi Hennie, if an invoice already exists related to a payment receive money should not be used. Rather than having to add a payment to the invoice or bill, you can simply use the Find & Match tool within the Reconcile tab to locate and match with the statement line.

  17. Ability to see aged debtors' balance in the currency the invoice was generated in, not just in your base currency, otherwise, it is difficult to calculate how much a customer owes. The same is true when you view the balance for a contact. It shows the issuing currency for each entry, but the total is only shown in the base currency, which is not helpful if you need to inform someone of the balance outstanding.

  18. Create a task list for new users of what they need to set up or complete in order to start working. Include links to the learning material for those tasks. New small business owner and I was not sure what exactly I had to set up or edit before just jumping in so I learnt when doing the tasks that I needed to set up a default invoice as example

    Hi Phil, thanks for raising this with us. Luckily I cna let you know that Xero has indeed set up certain tasks when you first set up your new Xero organisation, adding bank accounts and bankfeeds, invoice templates, adding users. Im sorry that this wasn't clear to you when you started your organisation. We also have options to set up calls when you hit certain milestones if you need more help. But thank you for letting us know this would be helpful and I hope we can be helpful when needed.😊

  19. Wouldn't it be a good idea to develop a professional version of XERO for those of us who use this for bigger concerns or who are professional bookkeepers? This one size fits all approach is not ideal, we don't require pop ups telling us how to create a copy invoice every time when it is something we do on a regular basis. Not the only thing that slows us down but there are too many to list
