  1. I use Xero projects for freelancing and invoicing my clients and I track my time with the time tracker. For that, I need to open Xero or my app which takes time. Freshbooks had a time tracking extension which really worked great and I miss it so much. Is super easy and I can pause/ start the counter with just one click.

  2. When you update the inventory selling price of an item you expect that this is reflected when a repeated invoice is generated. This is not currently the case. The price is ONLY updated when you edit the repeated invoice. Please have an option box on the repeated invoice that allows inventory price updates on generation. Currently waste hours and hours and make mistakes every time an inventory item changes price. Logged support cases about this for years but trying here now. Huge time saver.

  3. Most businesses use certain payment terms, like NET 30, NET 45, NET 60, NET 90 days. When invoicing businesses with different payment terms, there should be a faster way to calculate the due date, rather than asking Google "45 days from today" or "60 days from today" and entering that as the due date.

    It would be great to create pre-defined NET payment terms as part of the Due Date dropdown in Invoices. That way it would instantly adjust the due date based on the payment term selected for that invoice.

    Thanks for your engagement on this, everyone. Our improvements to the way you manage your online payment methods in Xero, have now been released to all users.

    With the new flow you can easily set up and access differing payment methods to your customers when sending invoices. With ability to choose to enable or disable the payment options you want to offer, you have more control. You can add multiple payment methods to an invoice(like Stripe and a connected app), giving your customers more choice in how they pay, so you can get paid on time.

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback of the layout of detail in the Billable expenses modal of new invoicing. I've made sure to share your feedback here with the team.

    To confirm, right now the date column is still included in this view however if you have a few billable expenses to assign you'll need to scroll down and then will see a horizontal scroll bar so you can scroll across to the date. Understand this isn't the most obvious atm, and I'll keep you updated here of any planned change.

    Hi community, in lieu of having a direct feature for this I wanted to highlight the option shared earlier on in this thread (Thanks Peter!) for those it may help.

    As mentioned, currently you could enter a separate line on the invoice, with a negative amount for the retention value, and code this to a 'customer retentions' account in the Balance Sheet. You could also add a comment in the Description field, indicating the cumulative retention value.

    The Account Transactions Report can then be used to manage the values being carried forward. 

    Being open, this isn't something we have planned for development at this time, however we'll continue to gather the interest here, and if there's any changes we'll let you know. 

  9. Ability to copy some part of quotes into invoice.

    Purpose: Users’ can easily send an invoice for the work that clients/customers have done from what’s written on the quote.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your interests and sharing on the idea here. Being totally open, we don't have plans in the near term for any change that'd solve for the idea here. This may be something we consider down the line and will keep the idea here open to continue monitoring.

    For the time being, we wanted to share a way you can remove links from the customer statement using a custom branding theme that you'd apply when sending a statement.

    Once the new branding theme is created, you can select it when printing or sending the customer statement, and the invoice link will be removed.

    Hi community,

    I wanted to let you know that the product and tech team have been following this thread and have been listening to your interest in the functionality. We do understand the frustration it’s causing when dealing with a large number of invoices awaiting payment. Your time is valuable, and the challenges you’ve encountered are not reflective of the seamless experience we aim to provide.

    However, we are not able to build everything at once. And as a global business with many requests for our different regions and needs, when it comes to payments, we are prioritizing first improving the online invoicing experience to allow more payers to pay online. That is the most critical functionality as we know those using online payments, get paid faster. There are still some critical needs here.

  13. Repeating Invoices - Ability to bulk update repeating invoices.

    We provide a subscription service which some of the 470+ customers have been using for years.

    At times we make changes to T&Cs, the wording, rates, payment services etc. and it would be extremely times shaving if we could do bulk changes i.e. change the Item, Due Date, Reference, Payment Services etc, without having to go into each repeating invoice individually.

    Hi everyone, thanks for feeding back to us here. Understand the rationale for wanting to be able to apply discounts on bills in Xero, similar to how you can with Sales invoices. This is something our team would like to develop into bills, however there are a few other important pieces of work that need attention first. So, for the time being we'll leave this as Submitted but as soon as there's movement we'll update you of any change through the idea here. Thanks!

  16. Please put the customer's payments on the activity page so it is easier to see what payments went to which invoices. Seeing that an invoice is paid isn't enough information if the customer has questions. It would be nice to see WHICH payment is applied to an invoice.

  17. The "Planned Dates" feature in Bills to Pay works extremely well. Key element is that you can bulk update dates as required from a multiple selection.

    The "Expected Date" feature has the same potential but also needs to be able to update invoice "Expected Dates" in bulk.

    Invoices cannot be updated in bulk from Short Term Cashflow if a part-payment has been made against that invoice. Also, you can't update invoices Expected dates if they are not due yet.

    Thanks for your continued input and contribution to this idea. We've now released an improved send experience for new invoicing, where you have a side by side view to give you full visibility of what's being sent. Encompassed in this is also the ability to CC and BCC others in the email😊.

    For the time being this is limited to sending from the invoice itself and won't apply to Invoice Reminder emails. However, we are thinking ahead and will look to expand this capability in time. We'll keep you updated of any further progress of this here.

  20. It would useful to be able to have an edit function that allows you to change a bill to an invoice and vice versa. As clients tend to confuse these and it takes a lot of steps to copy the information over and delete the mistake.
