  1. Please automatically revert to the "Pay Employees" page after a payrun has been filed. At the moment after a payrun is filed with the ATO we are taken back to the "Post Payrun" / "File" page. You then have to click on "Close" to be taken to the "Pay Employees" page. Why the extra step?

  2. I think it would be really helpful to put a search bar for employees in a pay run. It's really time consuming to scroll down list of employees especially if you have lots of them. It's under employee dropdown. Thanks!

  3. Have tax rates added to Pay Items and or a way to add employee tax rate to unscheduled pay runs so you don't have to edit tax rate when processing.

This will ensure correct tax rate is applied to all employees every time a pay is processed, whether is a normal pay run and or unscheduled pay (bonus etc)

  4. The feature request is to allow the defining of current liability accounts for pay items with pay types set to Deductions, Payroll Taxes, and Post-tax Deductions. This will enable the tracking of payroll source deductions and taxes necessary for remittance reports to the tax authority (such as EI, CPP and income taxes for T4 and T4 summary completion in Canada).

There are two ways I believe Xero developers could achieve this goal.

Below is an explanation of what currently happens during pay runs:

For pay items with a pay type set to Wages, Allowances, or Non-taxable Allowances, the…

Thanks for sharing and engaging with Product ideas. While we understand wanting to see improvements to Global Pay Run, however as you may have recently read -

    We’re making some changes to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.

With this update we want to be upfront here that we don't have any intentions of further developing Global Pay Run, and will close this idea.

For AU, NZ or UK businesses we have Xero payroll which is specifically tailored to your regions unique requirements. You can see more information of…

  5. Have a paid parental leave pay item so that a balance can be input and 'drawn down' on. The employee and the employer have clear visibility on how much time has been taken and how much is left.

Since STP PH2 compliance has come in, paid parental leave has just become an earnings pay item and not a leave pay item.

The workaround of running the Payroll Activity Summary or Transaction Listing Summary report to keep track of the earnings processed for the employee, is onerous and not available to the employee.

  6. We need to pay two different groups of employees from two different bank accounts. Having to change the payroll settings each time I do a pay run (to change the bank account) leaves far too much room for error. Can there be an option to select which bank account you want to use for each pay group PLEASE!!?

example 17 October to 26 October and would like to reflect these exact dates on the payslip. It would be great if I could to customise the dates within a pay calendar?

  8. When a Pay Template has been created for an employee, only the matching Earnings Rate should be overwritten by entries in Timesheets. Any other Earnings Rates that are set up in the Pay Template should still should still be available in the Payslip - they shouldn't have to be added back in again when processing the pay run. For instance, Fares & Travel Pattern Allowance needs to be paid over and above the Ordinary Hours recorded on the Timesheet. If it is listed on the Pay Template as an Earnings Rate for an Employee it should appear regardless…

I would like to draft up future payruns before Igo on leave, but still have the ability to adjust this week payrun for overtime etc. At the moment I can't move forward until I complete current payrun. or i have to do un unscheduled payrun to fix it. Very time consuming

Thank you for your feedback in product ideas, everyone. With our payroll products being regional changes are generally developed in each separately.

We have slightly changed the idea here to reflect the desire for this in AU Payroll, and have created a separate one across here for NZ Payroll.

While there are no plans for developing this within our AU Payroll product right now, we'll continue to track the interest from you all here, and update if there is any change planned.

Hi everyone, thanks for your ongoing interest and support for this idea.

We understand the complexities surrounding calculating holiday pay for employees in the UK, and acknowledge the need to provide a helpful way to calculate an accurate rate in which to pay out their holiday.

Our product team are excited to share that this is an area we are currently looking into developing.

Your feedback and ideas are extremely important to us. As such, we’d like to reach out to our valued community members to get involved in prototype testing, commencing later this month.

The testing will involve using a prototype tool to assess the usability of a proposed way of calculating Holiday Pay in Xero. We'd encourage users that feel strongly about this area of payroll to sign up and welcome users of all experience levels.

Given the popularity of this idea we expect spaces to fill up…

  11. Turn off rounding in payroll deductions and superannuation in Pay Template. Is it possible to turn off rounding for payroll deductions in pay templates, as we have defined benefit member salary sacrifice percentage rates that are more than two decimals and Xero automatically rounds down or up which creates the designated ATO rate lower or higher than specified. Also payroll deduction amounts for Novated Leasing for pre and post tax amounts are rounding down or up to an amount which then we will have to create a journal later to fix the incorrect amount being direct debited from our…

Hi Tom, it's already possible to pay superannuation contributions weekly. Auto Super allows you to make superannuation payments as regularly as you'd like. Are there further enhancements to this process that you feel would make it easier for you to make weekly super payments?

  13. Pay items bulk upload

can we please have a way of updating pay items in bulk
when items are imported via a different pay system the W1 area is not updated
and to do 100 items takes so much time as they have to be one indivually.
other items can be exported, updated and then imported back

  14. Hi,
It would be great to be able to pay contractors (who are paid Super) in Payroll and have an option for GST. I feel the Contractor payments aren't user friendly for most small business as they have subcontractors and contractors where only GST is added and no PAYG tax is deducted.

  17. Function to duplicate a pay rate category.
For example, we have 1st, 2nd and 3yr apprentices, all on different base rates of pay, plus they also have different rates of pay for day shift, night shift, working on site, working in the workshop etc. XERO doesnt allow me to only calculate super on ordinary hours when i have so many different pay categories as it cant determine just 'ordinary hours"... so for each of those rates i need to have sub categories.... Onsite day shift - OTE and Onsite day shift - ADDITIONAL HOURS Onsite night shift - OTE…

  18. In pay employees, add pay run the column last edited isn't wide enough to show the full description. It would be helpful to be able to read the whole description of when the entry was last edited. It would also be helpful to know who entered and edited the pay entry.
If new staff are in training and have completed the data entry but are nervous to speak up if an error was found/made knowing exactly who entered it would help to educate that staff member no what might have gone wrong.

Looping back across your idea here, Kristy - you can view this from the History at the bottom of the screen. This'll show details of changes made to that pay run with the dates, times, the user and the change that was made, which should help identify and educating staff 🙂

  19. Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.

Thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.

From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.

Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.

  20. Accrued Earnings Payroll item in Payroll

We need to record a Project Incentive Payment as an accrual on payslips. These accruals vary per project with some accrued hourly, daily or weekly and are paid at the end of the project.

The Accrued Earnings payment would be setup in Payroll Settings, with a running total displayed on payslips.
