Invoices - Add "Yesterday" to date selection
Thank you for the 'Today - tomorrow' options in date selections but we would really benefit, and use regularly, a 'Yesterday' option given we often Invoice customers 'after' they have collected goods etc.
... just a thought

Receivable Invoice Summary - Date range 'Any' option
Previously, in old "Customer Invoice Report" there was a feature under "Dates" where we could select "ANY" which allowed Invoices created outside of your selected date range to be included in your report.
This seems to be no longer available in the new "Receivable Invoice Report" and any invoices created outside of your selected date range (but paid within that date range) won't show up on the report.
You can expand your date range but this has potential to re-list paid invoices from previous reports.
Can "ANY' be added as an option to Dates as it was…5 votes -
New invoicing - Searching items by start of field
New Invoicing - Type in Item - please change back to only searching start of field, as per old invoicing.
Now that typing in the Item field in the new invoicing brings up every item with that word or part word in anywhere, we either need to learn all the codes, or make sure our items all contain totally different words. It takes ages to find the item required.19 votes -
New invoicing | History & Notes - Show email sent to
Can the new invoicing template show the address like the old templates used? Now if you go into edit the addresses have disappeared and to check if it is correct you have to click on the contact and fix it in a new tab.
Also the notes section has removed the time stamps and the email address the invoices get sent to. Can the new invoicing have the same notes and history function as the old one.118 votesHi team, I can confirm we have released another update for the history of new invoicing where now you'll see an entry when the invoice is sent and the email address it has been sent to. 🎉
We appreciate the interest we've seen around this. We still have a few more pieces of work we're doing around the history in new invoicing and you can stay updated on this progression on this idea.

New Invoicing - Keep the previous Contact when using Copy
Please change the new invoicing so when we copy the invoice, the previous contact automatically appears as default
We should not be choosing the customer each time we copy an invoice
382 votesHi everyone, we've introduced a change to new invoicing so you now have the ability to copy an invoice to a draft invoice and keep the existing contact. 🙂
When you select this option, you'll see a pop up where the current contact is selected by default, however you can choose another contact or leave this blank if you'd prefer.
Thank you for all your support and sharing back on the idea for this feature, here.

New invoicing | Billable Expense - Reorder Columns & Horizontal Scroll
In the new invoicing version, when selecting the billable expenses, I can't see the date and the supplier in one view. In order to see the date, I need to scroll to the bottom of the pop-up screen, then scroll across to the right, then try to scroll up to find the line item. I then can't see the supplier to know if that is the correct line to add. Sometimes there are 30+ billable expenses for the one client and I can't see the dates to know if I'm selecting the correct ones.
Have the date as…
17 votesThanks again for your feedback and sharing pain-points about adding billable expenses within an invoice. As you may have recently noticed we've released a few changes to this window to improve your experience.
We've re-ordered columns, added pagination and adjusted some of the column widths to make it much simpler to find, select and add billable expenses to an invoice.

Project Reporting - Sort by invoice/bill date, rather than assigned date
Currently when you filter all project reports by a date range it pulls the report based on when you assigned the invoice/expense to a project. Please update the report to pull by the invoice/bill date similarly to all other reports in Xero. This is crucial so you can compare your project reports to all other financial statements to confirm accuracy.

New invoicing copy and merge
In old invoicing, when you used Copy and Merge into a new invoice, it kept each of the original invoice's items together in order, including the first line description. In the new Invoicing, it groups together all of the like items from each invoice which is incorrect. This needs to be addressed.
9 votesHi Lisa, it'd be good to get a closer look at some of the invoices you've copied and merged from and to, so we can get a better look at what's going on for you here.
I've just tested creating invoices with Copy and merge from the list view using the same inventory items, however these are created as separate lines on the new draft invoice.
If you can raise a case with our team of specialists through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of this page, they can get more detail to investigate and confirm.

New invoicing - Not user friendly
I am sure that there are some great features with the new invoicing but I cannot see them!!
On the new invoicing screen, where do you see the exchange rate and the payment status of an invoice or if a credit note was applied to an invoice.
The Classic invoicing working well and if it isn't broken then don't fix it!
1 voteHi Celeste, appreciate your feedback here. Each of the points you've shared should be visible within new invoicing.
If you're entering a multi-currency invoice the exchange rate is shown at the top right of the invoice, and you should see the status of the invoice i the top left beneath the blue banner e.g Awaiting Payment, Paid etc.
I've attached an image of this for your reference.

Invoicing | Files - Ability to attach files before adding contact
This Function is Broken with New Invoicing - It does NOT create a new invoice with the file attached.
68 votesThanks to everyone that contributed and gave feedback to the teams survey that was shared in my last update.
There was a lot of valuable insights that the team are able to take from this as they continue to plan whats next in invoicing.
We understand and appreciate there are different flows for how our customers invoicing, and the timing of adding files can be dependent on these flows also.
Our team are currently reviewing and exploring solutions to enable attachment of files to an invoice prior to the Contact. As soon as I have more news around this I'll be sure to share with you all through the idea here.

Invoicing – Enable full keyboard entry (date + account number) without mouse clicks
The current “Add Payment” workflow in invoices is inefficient for keyboard users. While manual entry of payment dates has been improved, the account selection still forces users to use the mouse, which breaks the flow.
We need a smoother, full keyboard-navigable process when adding a payment to an invoice:
1.Enter date manually (already possible )
2.Press Tab to move to the Account field
3.Type the account number directly
4. Press Tab or Enter to confirm selection without needing to click the search bar or manually select the account with a mouse
Right now, even after typing the account number…3 votes -
Invoices - Make Due Date non-mandatory
There doesn't seem to be an option to delete the due date on sales invoices, my client doesn't want this to show on their sales invoices so it would be really useful if this could just be excluded

New invoicing - Assign next number in sequence when number removed
We bulk upload invoices in advance with "Draft" invoice numbers as we don't know their ultimate sequence for issue. We then assign a chronological invoice number when the invoice is approved and/or saved. In "Classic" invoicing, if I delete the invoice number it automatically assigned the next number in sequence e.g. #INV-0089, however in "New" invoicing if I delete the invoice number is warns me that I need a number and reverts to the original "Draft" number" and not the next chronological number in sequence. This is a significant backward step in functionality, can you confirm this bug will…
103 votesHi team, we appreciate the added feedback from you on the behaviours from classic that you'd find useful in new invoicing. The invoice number assignment is still a feature that our teams are continuing to monitor closely. Right now, while we don’t have plans for changing the way invoice numbers are assigned, our product teams are considering future improvements - As part of this they are doing some discovery that we’d love to get your contribution to.
We'd like to invite you to share back though our survey here. Insights from this will help our product teams get a deepened sense of our invoicing users. Thanks

New Invoicing - Allow fields to be populated in any order
New invoicing forces you to populate fields in order and I cannot set the tracking code until the description / amount et al are filled.
Please can the ability to populate in any order just classic invoicing
38 votesIt’s interesting to hear the different ways our users invoice and we appreciate you sharing how we could improve the flow of entry for you here. Being open this isn’t something we have plans for right now, however as our team plan further developments within invoicing, we’d like to engage you all here. To help our product teams get a better understanding of our invoicing users for future improvements, we’ve put a survey together and would love to hear your feedback through this.

New Invoicing - Use item sales price when copying from Purchase order
New Invoicing problem - we are copying new invoices from the existing purchase orders and prices on the new invoices are showing as a cost price instead of the sales prices! :(((. A massive issue! Also, the new invoicing look is not user friendly with a lot of space on the screen. We were very happy with the current invoicing when everything was working perfectly, and the new invoicing does not work for us at all. Dear Xero developers, please do not fix what is not broken and leave the current invoicing as it is.
13 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your feedback on this and I'd like to confirm that our team have implemented a change. Now, when you copy a purchase order to a draft invoice, where it includes items from your Products and services Xero will use the Sale price and account saved for that item when creating the invoice.
Thank you for sharing with us on this and staying updated though product ideas, here.

New Invoicing - Option to edit 'Attention' field in customer address
In new invoicing, please revert the ability to edit the postal address 'attention' box, back to the same as classic invoicing. Property managers want the owner's name included in the invoice address, so for each invoice I produce, I need to change the person's name in the 'attention' box. Previously this could be done by clicking on 'edit address' within the invoice, but in new invoicing, I need to edit the address by going into 'contacts', 'edit ', 'addresses', 'edit address', 'update address', 'save'. Once this is done, the ability to email the new invoice disappears,…
97 votesHi everyone, thanks for continuing to tune into updates of the idea here. Taking feedback on board on information that's most helpful to our customers we've released improvements to the ‘Contact’ field within new invoicing.
We heard being able to edit and add the 'Attention to' for a contacts address was important, and we've now added this capability into the contact card so you can edit this in the billing or delivery address detail, on the fly.
Along with this; there's now a look up tool so you can easily search and select a contact's addresses, and we’ve added more lines to enter a contacts address if needed. We appreciate your engagement and letting us know what matters to you through product ideas.

Invoicing - Allow Item and Description-only lines, with no Qty or Unit Price
When choosing item code and description, I want the ability to leave the rest of the fields blank. Classic invoicing had no problems with it. The new invoicing wants to populate QTY, UNIT PRICE and AMOUNT. Makes the invoice look unappealing.

514 votesThanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't… -

New Invoicing - Ability to apply overpayment to invoices
Why do we have to switch back to classic to apply and over payment - This feature needs to be in the New Invoicing System. It creates a massive amount of clicking to get all the features needed.
39 votesHi everyone, we have now released this within new invoicing 🎉
You'll now see that when you apply a payment within new invoicing, if the amount entered exceeds the invoice total Xero will note this and offer the option to create an Overpayment.
Thank you to everyone that voted on this idea and shared the importance of this in your workflow.

New Invoicing - Add a Print PDF where you can directly print from the invoice (not download)
New Invoicing - I need to print invoices regularly for counter sale customers. Using new invoicing it used to open a new chrome tab when you clicked Print PDF from there you could print or download the invoice easy.
In a recent update (See link https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/47646932-new-invoicing-print-pdf-option) the Print button now only allows you to Download invoices.
Please revert to the old system where printing or downloading took the same number of clicks
or
- Change the current Print PDF button to read "Download PDF"
- Add a new "Print PDF" Button that actually prints the invoice.
309 votesThanks everyone for your feedback on the invoice print option. We know how much our customers value efficient workflows, and appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how the current "Print PDF" button works.
For those of you looking for a smoother printing experience, a helpful workaround is to set your browser to automatically open PDFs in your preferred viewer after downloading. This can save you a few clicks in the process.
In the interest of transparency, a direct print PDF functionality that go through the download step isn't in our development plans.
You can continue to vote on this idea so if our position changes in the future we will update you all, here.

New invoicing - Default quantity of 1 for invoice lines
In the New Invoicing Template you have to enter a Qty for every line as the default Qty is "0"... In the classic version and what we are all used to it's "1".. As a ball park guess I'd say the use of Zero qty on a line is a lot less common than any other number from 0-9 and I'd guess most lines are a qty of x1.. If I wanted to default my qty's to Zero, I can not see the point in making invoices :)))) Come on who made Zero a default qty for invoicing??
