    Hi everyone, further to my recent update about our teams looking closer into the flows around attaching files to invoices, our product team have also started more research to get a better sense of our invoicing users for future improvements. We wanted to reach out to you all here to invite you to contribute through this survey. All your feedback will be deeply valuable to the team.

  2. Thank you for the 'Today - tomorrow' options in date selections but we would really benefit, and use regularly, a 'Yesterday' option given we often Invoice customers 'after' they have collected goods etc.

  3. New Invoicing - Type in Item - please change back to only searching start of field, as per old invoicing.
    Now that typing in the Item field in the new invoicing brings up every item with that word or part word in anywhere, we either need to learn all the codes, or make sure our items all contain totally different words. It takes ages to find the item required.

  4. In old invoicing, when you used Copy and Merge into a new invoice, it kept each of the original invoice's items together in order, including the first line description. In the new Invoicing, it groups together all of the like items from each invoice which is incorrect. This needs to be addressed.

    Hi Lisa, it'd be good to get a closer look at some of the invoices you've copied and merged from and to, so we can get a better look at what's going on for you here.

    I've just tested creating invoices with Copy and merge from the list view using the same inventory items, however these are created as separate lines on the new draft invoice.

    If you can raise a case with our team of specialists through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of this page, they can get more detail to investigate and confirm.

  5. There doesn't seem to be an option to delete the due date on sales invoices, my client doesn't want this to show on their sales invoices so it would be really useful if this could just be excluded

  6. Please change the new invoicing so when we copy the invoice, the previous contact automatically appears as default

    Hi everyone, we've introduced a change to new invoicing so you now have the ability to copy an invoice to a draft invoice and keep the existing contact. 🙂

    When you select this option, you'll see a pop up where the current contact is selected by default, however you can choose another contact or leave this blank if you'd prefer.

  7. Can the new invoicing template show the address like the old templates used? Now if you go into edit the addresses have disappeared and to check if it is correct you have to click on the contact and fix it in a new tab.
    Also the notes section has removed the time stamps and the email address the invoices get sent to. Can the new invoicing have the same notes and history function as the old one.

    Hi team, I can confirm we have released another update for the history of new invoicing where now you'll see an entry when the invoice is sent and the email address it has been sent to. 🎉

    We appreciate the interest we've seen around this. We still have a few more pieces of work we're doing around the history in new invoicing and you can stay updated on this progression on this idea. 

  8. New invoicing forces you to populate fields in order and I cannot set the tracking code until the description / amount et al are filled.

    It’s interesting to hear the different ways our users invoice and we appreciate you sharing how we could improve the flow of entry for you here. Being open this isn’t something we have plans for right now, however as our team plan further developments within invoicing, we’d like to engage you all here. To help our product teams get a better understanding of our invoicing users for future improvements, we’ve put a survey together and would love to hear your feedback through this.

  9. On the classic invoicing there is a send button at the top by email, print pdf etc that you can use to send to another xero customer. This feature is no longer on the new invoicing version. It would be good to have the send button back

    Hi Samantha, when referring to send would this be the 'Email' button in classic?

    If so this is actually still available in new invoicing, you'll find the option in the 3 dot menu at the top of the page 🙂

    Thanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing. 
    When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
    When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.

  11. We bulk upload invoices in advance with "Draft" invoice numbers as we don't know their ultimate sequence for issue. We then assign a chronological invoice number when the invoice is approved and/or saved. In "Classic" invoicing, if I delete the invoice number it automatically assigned the next number in sequence e.g. #INV-0089, however in "New" invoicing if I delete the invoice number is warns me that I need a number and reverts to the original "Draft" number" and not the next chronological number in sequence.     Hi team, we appreciate the added feedback from you on the behaviours from classic that you'd find useful in new invoicing. The invoice number assignment is still a feature that our teams are continuing to monitor closely. Right now, while we don’t have plans for changing the way invoice numbers are assigned, our product teams are considering future improvements - As part of this they are doing some discovery that we’d love to get your contribution to.

  12. It’s not possible to view the original invoice exchange rate in New Invoicing. New invoicing only shows the current exchange rate. I have to revert to classic invoicing to see what rate was used when posting the invoice.

  14. In the new invoicing version, when selecting the billable expenses, I can't see the date and the supplier in one view. In order to see the date, I need to scroll to the bottom of the pop-up screen, then scroll across to the right, then try to scroll up to find the line item. I then can't see the supplier to know if that is the correct line to add. Sometimes there are 30+ billable expenses for the one client and I can't see the dates to know if I'm selecting the correct ones.

    Thanks again for your feedback and sharing pain-points about adding billable expenses within an invoice. As you may have recently noticed we've released a few changes to this window to improve your experience.

    We've re-ordered columns, added pagination and adjusted some of the column widths to make it much simpler to find, select and add billable expenses to an invoice.

  15. In new invoicing, please revert the ability to edit the postal address 'attention' box, back to the same as classic invoicing. Property managers want the owner's name included in the invoice address, so for each invoice I produce, I need to change the person's name in the 'attention' box. Previously this could be done by clicking on 'edit address' within the invoice, but in new invoicing, I need to edit the address by going into 'contacts', 'edit ', 'addresses', 'edit address', 'update address', 'save'.     Hi everyone, thanks for continuing to tune into updates of the idea here. Taking feedback on board on information that's most helpful to our customers we've released improvements to the ‘Contact’ field within new invoicing. 

    We heard being able to edit and add the 'Attention to' for a contacts address was important, and we've now added this capability into the contact card so you can edit this in the billing or delivery address detail, on the fly. 

    Along with this; there's now a look up tool so you can easily search and select a contact's addresses, and we’ve added more lines to enter a contacts address if needed. We appreciate your engagement and letting us know what matters to you through product ideas. 

  16. open attached files (especially PDFs) in the current window (same as old invoicing), not in a new tab which is automatically happening with new invoicing.
    is frustrating as you now need to go back and forth between tabs if you want to transpose info from the attachment into the invoice.
    Much more user friendly the old way with a resize-able/move-able viewing window within the same tab

Our team have released a change, and you'll now find when you 'view' a file attached to an invoice this'll now show a side by side view so you can transcribe any detail as needed from the attachment to your invoice. ✨

  17. When invoicing, i usually do in large batches. The save and close function should be second, with save and add another first. Or have the option to edit so it comes first for me?

    Hi community, we've recently released shortcuts in new invoicing that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with the use of your keyboard. 

    We've added small prompts to highlight these shortcut combinations in product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can view them all on Xero Central

    While save options were explored as part of this work, the only keyboard shortcut right now is Save & close (Alt-Shift-C).

    Another option you may want to test for yourself is the '/i' keyboard shortcut. As new invoicing has auto save when you're ready to add another invoice, you could simply type '/i' on your screen. This will open the global search in the blue header with options to go to All invoice, or Create new invoice which you could either click or use Tab to select.

  18. New invoicing - Not user friendly

    I am sure that there are some great features with the new invoicing but I cannot see them!!

    On the new invoicing screen, where do you see the exchange rate and the payment status of an invoice or if a credit note was applied to an invoice.

    The Classic invoicing working well and if it isn't broken then don't fix it!

    Hi Celeste, appreciate your feedback here. Each of the points you've shared should be visible within new invoicing.

    If you're entering a multi-currency invoice the exchange rate is shown at the top right of the invoice, and you should see the status of the invoice i the top left beneath the blue banner e.g Awaiting Payment, Paid etc.

    I've attached an image of this for your reference.

  19. Currently when you filter all project reports by a date range it pulls the report based on when you assigned the invoice/expense to a project. Please update the report to pull by the invoice/bill date similarly to all other reports in Xero. This is crucial so you can compare your project reports to all other financial statements to confirm accuracy.

  20. New Invoicing - I need to print invoices regularly for counter sale customers. Using new invoicing it used to open a new chrome tab when you clicked Print PDF from there you could print or download the invoice easy.

    In a recent update (See link https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/47646932-new-invoicing-print-pdf-option) the Print button now only allows you to Download invoices.

    Please revert to the old system where printing or downloading took the same number of clicks

    or

    • Change the current Print PDF button to read "Download PDF"
    • Add a new "Print PDF" Button that actually prints the invoice.
