  1. I think it would be a good idea to facilitate the location of payroll reports. Please could you create a link to payroll journals within the payroll "journal reports".
Secondly, it would very useful to be able to amend a payroll journal report, if needed.

  2. Ability to export pay items and update pay rates in a spreadsheet and then re-import when pay rates have been updated. Would save so much time each year when Fair Work increases pay rates.

  3. Could Xero please introduce the ability to report child support deductions and garnishees via STP reporting to the ATO.

Xero currently does not support reporting of child support deductions through STP Phase 2 with Xero Payroll.

  4. Make it so that an employees actual current leave balance is shown on an employee's record under the leave tab. Not just the balance with future leave applied. It's frustrating to have to download an employees pay slip to view these balances.

  5. Under the employees deductions sections during payroll, if one has salary sacrifice, child support, and any other deductions, you have to process the pay run initially. And then you would have to manually do a separate payment to a payee

Is it possible to have a payee that can be linked to the payroll deductions. Meaning when you run your payroll, the deductions will go against the payee and when the payroll aba file is created, the payee will be included in that aba file

  6. Please create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently deductions can only be managed via balance sheet and/or by adding reimbursement to enable it to be transferred via EFT. Quickbooks and some other payroll software have this ability and it makes life so much easier and clearer for the emlployee too.

  7. In pay employees, add pay run the column last edited isn't wide enough to show the full description. It would be helpful to be able to read the whole description of when the entry was last edited. It would also be helpful to know who entered and edited the pay entry.
If new staff are in training and have completed the data entry but are nervous to speak up if an error was found/made knowing exactly who entered it would help to educate that staff member no what might have gone wrong.

Looping back across your idea here, Kristy - you can view this from the History at the bottom of the screen. This'll show details of changes made to that pay run with the dates, times, the user and the change that was made, which should help identify and educating staff 🙂

  8. Please allow payments to be made to an employee after they have left and their P45 has been generated. Sage, for example, allows you to include past employees in a pay run and tick a 'payment after leaving' box which gives the correct 0T tax code and produces the correct FPS submission for HMRC. This is a very basic part of payroll that needs to be included in this system, the option to create a new employee file in order to pay them is not complying with HMRC and is not an acceptable alternative.

  9. Hi, It would be great if payslips line items match the 'pay template' pay items or alternatively, for pay items that have a YTD amount to be shown on all payslips (with the Nil or $amount for the current pay period as applicable with the YTD) to breakdown 'Other Previous Earnings'.
This will also assist tracking multiple pay items where it can vary each pay cycle, coding and tracking STP rates and categories, YE finalisation and review. Many thanks.

  10. When processing backpay for employees where they have a Termination Date currently involves either an Unscheduled Pay run for a period the employee was employed or undo the Termination date, and run a payrun, then Terminate again.
Both of these are very time consuming, particularly when there are some 40 employees over an 18 month period that need to be included who have a Termination date.
It would be useful to have a function in a payrun to "include terminated employees" which keeps all the previous data, but includes them for the backpay

Hiya community, thanks for your support in this. Totally get why you may want to set the default view to sort by surname in Payroll. Being open, with many of the teams resource working hard to fine tune payroll for STP phase 2 there are no direct plans for developing the option to set a default for sorting of employees atm.

To confirm, right now from your list of employees you can click on the column header to sort ascending or descending alphabetically - So, once on the screen you can click Last name to sort your employees by this column.

We'll update again if there's any change planned.

  12. An option to do a reversal of a current pay run as currently there is no option to allow this. I had a pay run today and the client had not let me know that there was a change to their pay run until after it had been lodged with the ATO. I subsequently went to the portal and found that both pay runs had been processed as was out to the actual amount in Xero.

  13. It would be good if payroll reports could be customised, i.e. after making a change to an existing report, such as Gross To Net report, the new template could be saved as a Custom Report.

At the moment, it isn't possible to save the updated format, so I have to make the same changes to the standard report every month.

  14. Currently payroll is only able to child support as a deduction.

In Australia, there is a protected amount that employee needs to earn before the deduction is taken out of their pay. There isn't a function that will allow this currently.

Payroll officers manually have to keep track of this and remove the deduction if protected amount is not reached. Small businesses with a few employees would be able to keep track but for the likes of a bigger business with more than 20+ employees, this would be a nightmare.

  15. It would be great to be able to remove past employees from the drop-down menus when generating Payroll reports. This would be particularly helpful for businesses who employ a lot of staff members, especially if there's a high churn rate.

  16. As I am an external accountant to several client, each with several pay-calendars across numerous entities, I would much appreciate if the ABA files (much like pdf reports) could be given a naming convention that ties the ABA clearly to entity, and pay-calendar when I screen through my downloads.

  17. Payroll reports - it will be good to have a COMPARISION field on payroll reports just like the P&L - to compare with previous n number of months / periods.

While the grouping / summarizing features are good - they are limited to just reporting on a particular period.

Hence any Comparisions are tedious to run / export and consolidate on excel.

For. eg. I'd like to run a report to display :
Afternoon Shift Loading & Overtime work for a month OR the full FY with monthly columns.
Is this something we can get to without…

  18. We have grant funding so wages as well as super needs to be applied with the tracking code to acquit grant correctly. Presently, there is no availability to apply tracking codes against the superannuation, as well it is only available through timesheets for the wages.
It would be very helpful if tracking codes could be applied directly with pay items in employee template (similarly like other software) so this can be applied when leave is taken also

  19. Right now there’s no functionality in Xero to record credit card account in an employees records, by adding this feature would allow payroll to be paid directly to a credit card.

  20. Allow Xero users permission to authorise employee timesheets. At the moment only the payroll administrator or specific employee has the ability to do this. Payroll permissions under settings/users should be expanded to be more granular, with an option to allow users permission to authorise timesheets. Alternatively, under the employee details in Payroll, an option to select authorised Xero users whom may sign off timesheets for that user.
