  2. I think the time has come to invest in AI, as a accounting software leader (Xero). Many people invest their money in AI software, like accountants, to do better / more accurate and faster budgets, forecasting (cash/accrual) mixed with different scenario's, transaction reconciliations and presentations of data/information and graphs. This usually in excel; outside the accounting software, where mistakes are likely to happen. I am not in IT, or software development/integrations, so I do not have an idea what this type of investment would cost, but my gut feeling is it would be worth it.

    Like your forward thinking, Johan. 

    As Freya mentioned there is some AI going on in Xero already with the way Xero makes suggestions to help you reconcile your bank account.

    Later this year you'll see Just ask Xero (JAX) be introduced and I'll round back to share once this is available. 

  3. Many of my clients complain that they 'can't find what they are looking for' when using the top search bar facility. I too often struggle to find things unless I am specific and know the exact detail of a posting. A search return of more options would be very beneficial listing all transactions in relation to any word or value typed into the search bar.

    Hi team, appreciate the continued engagement in the idea here, apologies I've not returned to update before now.

    I want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for changing the logic of search results in the near term. However, I felt it might help to explain how this is working at present to understand results you may be seeing - Global search considers several factors in deciding which results to display, and in what order. These factors include, but aren't limited to:

    • Document type – Document types searched most often get priority in the order of the search results. Contacts and invoices appear at the top of the results, as they’re the most popular search.
    • Term frequency – The frequency the term you search for appears in the document.

  4. Ability to switch between organisations on the Xero phone app. I presently work for several businesses and upload receipts/invoices as go. I presently would need to login and out to be able to do this as I have different email accounts for some of the businesses I work for. I am told that I can only do this if I use the same email account across all clients, this is not possible with in house email accounts.

  5. The date format for South Africa is incorrect. We use a day month year format, not the American month day year format. Surely Xero can change this so its adaptable for each country and preference? Its not asking a lot of work to have that additional option. But can cause a huge issue when its not what we work with.

  6. It would be nice to have a business overview dashboard similar to QuickBooks. The existing Xero dashboard is designed for bookkeepers and doesn’t have any valuable insights for business owners. Perhaps it would be better to have two different tabs on the dashboard, one for bookkeepers, and another one for business owners.

  7. Currently you can only see new notifications when they pop up in the menu. As soon as you click x, they disappear and cannot be accessed any more. It is useful to be able to look at old notifications - particularly for tax codes so that changes to tax codes can be double checked

    It'd be great to understand when you say "dismissing" notifications, would this be by clicking the "x" icon in the top right hand corner of the notifications pop-up, or within the notification feed? Thanks 

  8. Currently the "Total Cash In and Out graph" on dashboard shows the total cash received and the total cash spent through all of the bank accounts in Xero. This graph excludes transfers between bank accounts as don't they affect the overall total.

    It would be nice to be able to customize that graph to exclude certain transactions. Ie. if a shareholder loan is made, this would show up as cash in.

  9. Hi Xero.
    Currently, User's with Invoice Only Access can only approve invoices and bills. However they are unable to remove a payment (or part thereof) from an invoice.

    This is a problem if the User accepts a payment, then realises that there is an error on the invoice, as they are then unable to remove the amount and fix the invoice.
    It would be great if these User's could have this ability without having access to the business bank accounts

  10. This seems like an absolute no-brainer.

    When looking for an invoice or payment, I often copy the amount from a remittance or similar, and it is a frustrating waste of time to have to manually remove the comma.

    This should be easy to implement, and would make the user experience smoother seamlessly.

  11. The new tabs are nominated as Purchases and Sales but some of their sub tabs go beyond that. I would prefer to label them Payments and Receipts

    In relation to XERO security, I suggest all users should have a password expiry functionality where after a period (eg 6 months) it prompts all users to change their password.

    Hi Simon, thanks so much for taking the time to share this great idea about improving login security.

    We've had a look, and your suggestion to add a password expiry feature is now open for the community to vote and comment on.

    We're keen to see what others think! They can now add their votes and share how this would help them manage their own business's security policies in Xero.

  13. Add the ability for Managers to approve bank account details for contacts. Ie the Bookkeeper can enter in & change the suppliers bank account details in Xero, but the manager can then go an approve it.

When I am logged-in to Xero as a user with "Invoice only" and "only create drafts" permissions, it is my understanding that this user should not be able to create new invoice items or see menu options for creating new items. However, it appears this user can see this menu option when adding a line item to an invoice and attempt to create a new item, leading to an ambiguous error message.

  15. Hi, It would be great to see customers who exceeded their credit limits on the dashboard. We push sales invoices from third-party app therefore we don't see alerts if someone has no credit limit left. If we could see a list on the dashboard we could act immediately. Thanks

  16. For some reason "standard users" cannot see Manual Journals in the accounting menu.

    Please allow standard users to access Manual Journals from the Accounting menu rather than having to go to reports. Its just a time waster.

  17. Overall Cash Balance widget for Xero Dashboard. I actually love the Overall Cash Balance widget for the app. Can we have that as an option for the Xero Dashboard for the web version as well? It's handy to be able to log in and instantly see the total cash for my business.

  18. Restrict users from updating contact details. updating contact details, address and attention field, updates all invoices/bills previously posted for the contact. Not all users should be able to do this function.

  19. you should be able to confirm your account with a secondary email. I got locked out of my primary email, and Xero thought my normal log in was suspicious. I had not way to confirm my account. I have a secondary email. What is the point of the secondary email if there is no way to use it to confirm my account? Or use my phone for a text confirmation.
