  1. Payroll reports - it will be good to have a COMPARISION field on payroll reports just like the P&L - to compare with previous n number of months / periods.

While the grouping / summarizing features are good - they are limited to just reporting on a particular period.

Hence any Comparisions are tedious to run / export and consolidate on excel.

For. eg. I'd like to run a report to display :
Afternoon Shift Loading & Overtime work for a month OR the full FY with monthly columns.
Is this something we can get to without…

  2. Right now there’s no functionality in Xero to record credit card account in an employees records, by adding this feature would allow payroll to be paid directly to a credit card.

  3. Currently, Xero does not have the feature to assign certain working days for part time employees. This becomes very frustrating when doing payroll.

For instance, an employee works Wednesday to Friday and when a public holidays falls on a Monday, Xero will allocate either all or some of the employees ordinary hours to this date incorrectly. This means we will have to manually adjust it each time.

A simple resolution would be to set up employees to certain working days, then the public holidays would assign correctly and there would be no need to manual adjustments.

  4. When you invite an employee to xero me for the purpose of submitting their timesheet, there is a drop down menu for the payrate. In this drop down, it shows 'Self' payrate (the payrate of the person submitting the time sheet) and also 'Team' payrate, a list of all the different payrates of the company. Why would you want an employee to be able to see the different payrates of the team?

This seems like a flaw in the system to me and an employee should only be able to see the payrate…

  5. The ability for an employee to be able to enter the number of kilometres travelled each day. This number being able to filter through to the pay run so the employer can pay an allowance of cents per kilometre.

  6. Currently in XERO if you use more than one Ordinary Time Earnings Pay Item per employee the Annual Salary Calculation on the Payslip is incorrect. Using more than one is useful as there are some employees I like to apportion to 2 x areas. Example: It might be 1 day a week on Admin 4 days on Production. Whilst we can do this currently in XERO, as noted above the Annual Salary is incorrect. So - either - separate the Salary field from the Pay Item or change (fix) the way XERO calculates the Annual Salary. Note I…

  7. Could we please have an option to add a second emergency contact for our employees.

Currently when creating a new employee we only have one space for an emergency contact. However, in the case of an actual emergency only one contact may not be enough, a second contact gives a much higher chance of being able to get in contact with someone.

Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here.

We appreciate being able to easily add a secondary emergency contact to the details tab of the employee record is important to you.

Atm, you could use the notes tab to add a new note to the employee record and include the details in here.

To be open we don't have direct plans for making this change within the details tab any time in the near future.

  8. It is better to not to have annual salary for casual employees in their pay sheets and also in the remuneration report in Xero as it is not a reliable figure to have in.

Hi everyone, while not directly from an employee's record it's possible to view an employees payslip without having to download it. If you select Pay employees from the Payroll menu, choose the required pay run you'll be able to click View Reports where you can choose the 'Payslips' option.

From here you can see the payslips for all employees in that pay period.

We don't have direct plans for adding this capability from within an employee's record atm, but we'll track the interest of this here and let you know if any change is planned.

  10. Currently we can search employee's data by using the dropdown arrow and selecting a specific employee. Can we also have the option for an arrow which allows us to simply scroll through each employee's record rather than having to use the dropdown option each time

  12. It would be beneficial for an employee to record all hours worked in the timesheet including hours to be allocated as TOIL Accrual
i.e. employee works 35 hours, 30 hours ordinary and 5 hours to TOIL accrual?
Then when the employees wishes to take the TOIL, they submit a Leave Request as per existing functionality.

Currently the employee needs to separately notify payroll regarding hours worked to be allocated to TOIL Accrual. And this doesn't go through the Supervisor Timesheet Approval process.

  13. AUSTRALIA PAYROLL - Can we PLEASE have a separate Lock Date for Payroll. I have had many incidents where I have prepared an Activity Statement ( PAYG), and the client reverts a pay run to draft, makes a change AFTER THE ENDOF MONTH AND IAS CREATION, and then we have to re-calculate and re-submit IAS for signature.

The lock date is unable to be added as the ACCOUNTS are still being reconciled, but the payroll is complete.

This will also be extremely helpful at EOFY.

  14. Workers Comp pay item leave accrual idea.

There is an option to "Accrue Leave for this Earnings Rate" when setting up the WC pay item.

What would be good is the option to accrue for AL or PL separately as this alters according to state law eg in WA, AL is accrued but not PL on WC payments.

  15. REQUESTING LEAVE
Firstly, when an employee is submitting a leave application, they are unable to adjust the number of hours they are taking when submitting this leave when the leave period is for more than one day. This is problematic for part-time employees that may work different hours on different days of their working week.
    RECORD/HISTORY OF LEAVE REQUESTS
Also, employees used to be able to see the number of hours taken but this is no longer the case - why is this?
    LEAVE APPROVER ACCESS
And finally, my client has multiple entities that use Xero for payroll

Hi everyone, appreciate we haven't engaged directly in this idea sooner and reading through the detail of the original post here we do want to break this down a little to provide more clarity.

It's correct that currently it's not possible to enter a number of hours leave if the request spans more than a day. We have another idea that's gathering support around this and we'd urge those interested in this to join.

Similarly, we have another idea based around the permission to approve or decline leave request and provide read-only access to Payroll reports that you can support, here.

Understanding the importance around being able to see history of events in payroll, you may have noticed we've rolled out payroll history to the employee record-level and most recently you can now see a history of user activity in the Organisation, Calendars, Pay Items, Superannuation & STP Settings…

  16. Recently did the super and needed to add the TFN of each and every individual employee manually into the file.

If it's a required field for the clearing house file then it should be included in the super accruals report - obviously.

  17. Set the default time method for timesheets.

Allow the payroll admin to set the default method for all employees to capture the timesheet details. EG set all employees to use only the time in and time out method not the hours method.

  19. PAYROLL AS AN ADD-ON IN AUSTRALIA

Please allow payroll as an add on in Australia. The very basic plan is enough for most small businesses and sole traders, but the jump in price just to add one apprentice is prohibitive. I feel small businesses and tradies are not catered for well. We often don't need all the bells and whistles, but just something basic. To pay my apprentice via Xero will cost me an extra $360/year which is ridiculous.

Hey team, as you may have recently seen on our blog payroll is now included in all of our business edition plans!

We received valuable feedback from our customers on their needs in this feature with our lower tier plans, which has helped inform this change.

Thanks for your feedback, and sharing what matters to you in Xero Product Ideas! 🙂

  20. New Employee start date is part way through a pay week. The New pay run does not recognise the start day and calculates an entire weeks pay.
This requires manual calculation and double check if the pay run has been recalculated. Open to errors and over payment
