Need to be able to add way more than 1000 codes at a time
21 votesHi team, we have now released an update to the import of items so you can now import up to 6000 items in one go! 🎉
Thanks for sharing your interest in this with us, here. 🙂

Xero mobile app - Take photos of receipts and auto fill data
Allow the Xero app to take photos of receipts at the time of purchase. To reduce the number of steps to get a photo of a receipt attached to a transaction.
Ideally then when reconciling credit card transactions, the receipts will already be in Xero and they would pop up as a suggestion, based on the date of the transaction with the date the photo was taken.
It would also be ideal if you could view the receipt whilst coding, like it does when you are viewing a draft bill to pay.
3 votesHi Lauren, this is possible with the Xero Expenses through the Xero Me app. When you enable receipt analysis, you can take a photo and Xero will pull the detail out of the receipt to enter into the fields of your expense - Find out more on this here.

New Invoicing - Receive payment for an invoice before sending it
Immediately after creating an invoice, you approve it, then a series of boxes appears at the bottom of the screen allowing you to receive the payment. Once payment is applied you can send the receipt to the customer. This is ESSENTIAL for accepting cash payments or any payment made at the time of delivery but before sending the invoice. Please add this feature from OLD invoicing to New invoicing.
3 votesHi Fiona, it's not necessary to send an invoice before adding a payment. Once an invoice is created in new invoicing the default option is 'approve and send' but 'approve' can be selected instead. A payment can then be added and receipt sent, with a similar workflow to classic invoicing.
Atm there's no way to set the default approve option for an invoice. However, this has been raised as an idea across here if you'd like to add your vote. 🙂

Inventory - Bulk update Sales tax code field
Sales tax code for Products & Services SKUs "Item Name"
When you export the list of items from Products & Services you get a CSV with the fields:
ItemCode ItemName SalesUnitPrice SalesAccount SalesTaxRate InventoryAssetAccount CostOfGoodsSoldAccountHowever, there is no field for "Sales tax code" which is used when you're leveraging AutoTax lookup integration with Avalara. Therefore, as we're converting to using AutoTax, we have ~700 SKUs here that we have to manually update ONE BY ONE!!!!
This is insane. Why is this field not able to be edited in bulk like every other field?
4 votesHi team, we've released a change to the CSV import for inventory. You'll now find you can bulk update the Avalara sales tax code by importing this with the CSV file. You can find information on preparing data in your import file on Xero Central 😁 Thanks for sharing your idea with us, here!

New invoicing - View Item Code and Tracking columns on saved invoice
Unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to see the Item Code or Tracking Code fields on a saved invoice? They are there in Edit mode, but not when viewing a saved invoice? We don't need to include these columns on the invoice sent to clients, but do need to be able to see them for internal use without having to go into edit mode. Until we can do this, we won't be able to switch to the new invoicing.
5 votesHi team, apologies we haven't updated this idea sooner. Our product team made a change to the approved grid view a fem months ago, where now you'll see Item code and Tracking as separate columns once the invoice is approved to make it easier to review your information. We appreciate your feedback here and sharing through product ideas.

Analytics Plus - Fortnightly expense predictions in short-term cashflow
The short-term cash flow projection should allow 2 weekly/fortnightly expense predictions (instead of just weekly and monthly predictions). The current absence of this feature currently results in incorrect cashflow forecasts (e.g. we pay wages every two weeks, so the timing of our wages prediction is always incorrect).
2 votesThanks for your feedback, it's good to hear how you're using short term cashflows.
Predictions within Short-term cash flows should be generated for recurring amounts based on the last 3 months.
Our tool looks for weekly, fortnightly and monthly payments - the dates, amounts and contact have to be fairly consistent each time for a prediction to be generated.
If you do find you're not seeing predictions you'd expect to appear for fortnightly payments do raise a case with our team of specialists so we can take a deeper dive into why this may not be showing in Short-term cash flows. Thanks

Bulk reconcile bank transactions for accounts without bank feeds
We have deposit and cash accounts with no bank feed, I would like to be able to reconcile a whole month's transactions in one go rather than each individual line (mark as reconciled).
I know the balance at the end of the month is correct so I would like to be able to tick all transactions and 'mark as reconciled' in one hit.2 votesHi team, this is already possible. However in order to bulk mark as reconciled you'll need to enable this option.
When in a bank account in Xero, click the '?' icon at the top of the screen where you should see the option to turn on 'Enable Mark as Reconciled'. Its based on your user login so while this will turn it on for yourself, another user in the organisation will need to follow these actions to for themself.

New Invoicing - Show Reply To email address when sending
New Invoicing - Show selected From Email
The old invoicing would show which Email address would be used as the from email when emailing an invoice to a client. This is an important double check to be sure I'm using the correct email address for the particular client. Since this has been removed I now have to remember to check the Email settings in a different tab before sending every invoice, which is very time consuming and is the primary reason I switch back to Classic every time I try the frustrating "New Invoicing" system after suffering through its hard…
18 votesHi team, coming back around the idea here I wanted to share that with the new invoicing send window, you'll be able to see the reply to when sending an invoice from the right side preview.
Appreciate there may be some in the discussion here that would also like the ability to change this when sending which isn't currently in our plans however please do vote on this idea if that's something you'd like to see. 🙂

AU Payroll - Detailed pay run journal report
A detailed pay run journal report would be much more useful than the current summary version. It is especially unhelpful that selecting the entry in an expense account just takes you to the pay run - it doesn't show you what is coded to which expense account. With many employees this can take a long time to find errors or to manually journal multiple costings
10 votesHey community, 👋 thanks for all your support on this idea, I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered!
Last year, we rolled out support for the new journal reports 🎉 These can be filtered by account and account code or even the description.
For more information check out our support article on our new Journal reports here.
Thanks again for your feedback. We know this has been a highly anticipated feature for the community and we appreciate your contributions.

Multicurrency - Option to not assign Tracking Categories to Bank Revaluation
Currently our monthly bank revaluation FX diff is being automatically coded by Xero to be split between tracking categories rather than simply being "unassigned". However, for our purposes, once USD are banked, they no longer "belong" to that tracking category and instead are general company funds. It is impossible to tell Xero to stop coding revaluation amounts to tracking categories but this doesn't make sense for the accounts, especially when a tracking category finished within the business months ago. It would make more sense for the FX funds held to be an unassigned tracking category once they are in the…
1 voteHi Imogen, thanks for sharing your thoughts on multicurrency bank revaluations. We understand how having FX differences automatically assigned to tracking categories doesn’t always fit your workflow.
This idea has been moved to Gaining support, so the community can vote and share their experiences. Adding a bit more about why this change would help in your workflow can help others see the value and give the product team context.
We’ll keep an eye on the discussion and share updates as the idea develops.

GST - Default tax rate pull from supplier settings
When reconciling a transaction the default tax rate should be per the Supplier settings if set up in the Supplier. It is the Supplier who is GST registered or not. Currently a non GST registered Supplier may come up with NO GST, however if you change the account code you are posting the transaction to it will change the tax to be inclusive of GST if that expense would normally include GST. Supplier status should always override account code status, otherwise if not picked up and corrected leads to inaccurate GST returns.
5 votesHey community, 👋 thanks for all your support on this idea, I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered! We rolled out support for maintaining the suppliers default tax rate when the account code is changed 🎉
If the account code changes, the default tax rate will not change unless the tax rate is not compatible with the new account code selected.
For more information check out our How your default tax rate and account settings work
Thanks again for your feedback, we appreciate your contributions.

Contacts - UK specific address fields in contact record
At present when editing a contact, the fields are in USA format with Zip code and State - it would be much better for the UK if we could see Postcode and County
5 votesHi team, apologies as it appears we may have missed updating this idea with a change we've made sometime ago in contacts.
When editing a Contact record you'll now find that the Address fields are responsive to the Country that is selected. For example if selecting United States you'll be able to enter a State and Zip Code, whereas if you select United Kingdom the fields will be Region and Post Code.
Thanks for engaging with us on this, here.

AU Payroll - Superannuation Authorisation Message - Resend authorisation code
Adding a "Resend authorisation code" link on the approval page for a batch.
Purpose: To make sure authorisation code is sent for an approval, in case the code hasn't been received.
5 votesHey community - we've delivered this idea 🎉
If the nominated authoriser hasn’t received the SMS, you can Resend a new code from within the Pending Approval super batch.

Sales Invoice - Ability to add Web link or QR code to Invoice or Receipt for Google review
It would be fantastic to have the ability to add a web link or QR code to a Googe review page or other external link (website, facebook etc).
When an invoice or receipt of payment is sent it would be great to follow this up asking for client to give feedback on service provided or to have them follow along on social media etc.2 votesThis is possible for sales invoices with the use of an advanced branding theme. You could download the docx template and insert an image (QR code) or statis text (a link) where you'd like within the template that customers could reference and use to review your business.
There is no template for receipts atm, but we have a slightly different idea for this that you may like to add your vote to.

startup help
Most Small business owners like myself are not accountants. Getting Xero working and using the integrations with hubdoc has been lots of trial and error and frustration. It would be so much easier if as part of starting an account I had someone for the first month to get online with me who can see my screen and walk me through how to do all of the basics such as: 1. How do I correctly bring a receipt into xero through hubdoc so it matches to transactions I can reconcile? 2. How do I setup the quote system to work…
1 voteHi Joshua, I see you've also been in touch with our Xero Support team for help with some of your questions and advice on setting up.
Our Support team are able to offer some of this sort of guidance, and can answer specific questions. We also have some great getting started resources available on Xero Central with guidance, courses and content that can be a good starting point.
For one-to-one help for the best setup for your particular business, or questions on meeting reporting and regulatory needs we'd recommend using the Advisor Directory, to find a Xero-certified adviser in your area.

Report Templates - Ability to edit report codes from Chart of Accounts, not separate area.
Report Codes ability to edit from Chart of Accounts, not separate area. I see that you have marked previous suggestions as completed, because you've added a button. It isn't a button we are seeking, it is the ability to edit directly within COA, rather than having to go elsewhere. The elsewhere is still a useful tool to help identify when clients have added their own codes, but from a click minimisation perspective why not have COA and Report Codes integrated, and provide us with a field to add our nominated report code.
1 voteHi Justine, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how integrating report code editing directly into the Chart of Accounts could streamline your workflow. After reviewing this with our product team, we're updating the status to 'Not in pipeline', which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap. The idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest. We value your feedback and encourage you to keep sharing your thoughts with us.

Dividends and other distributions not as P&L - automated support
It would save time and avoid accounting errors if a new document type existed (akin to Bills) that can be sent to recipients (contacts) generating the accounting transactions appropriate for distributions such as dividends and appointments from trusts. Those transactions would be on equity and assets accounts (not expense accounts and accounts payable as is the case for Bills).
It would be great if such processing could be applied to contacts in bulk (e.g. a shareholders register) but the possibility of accounting for distributions singly would be a good start.
I am a trustee and the usual distributions are cash…

Tracking Summary Report - bring back the ability to run this report by specific account code
In the new Tracking Summary Report (from 11 Nov 2025 the old report is no longer available) had removed the ability to run the report by specific account codes. Please bring this feature back as we use it to identify and track costs in the specific account codes. This also enable us to identify and correct any transactions that are missing a tracking code in each specific account code. We do not use this report by account type which is the only option in the new report.
1 voteHi Cecilia, thanks for sending in your feedback about the new Tracking Summary Report!
Just to clarify, you can run the report for specific account types like Assets, Liabilities, Sales, and so on—similar to the Account Groups options in the old report.
We’ve updated the idea status to Existing Functionality since the new Tracking Summary report works the same way as the old one, just with a few terms changed here and there.
If we have misunderstood you, please get back in touch.

Xero Accounting App (iOS) - Account code qwerty keyboard need numeric keyboard option
Current Operation when the category search is made QWERTY appears
Idea Open Keyboard with Numeric Keyboard above or as an alternativeReason speeds up entry for known codes eg I can enter 980 as category quicker
1 voteHi Grant 👋, thanks for sharing your feedback on the Xero Accounting iOS app keyboard options. We appreciate you explaining how a numeric keyboard could help when entering account codes. After reviewing this idea, we’ve moved it to Feedback status. The numeric keyboard does appear when you are entering in a number only field (quantity and price) and as many people type the name for the account code (category) the option is to switch to a numeric keyboard. Thanks again for helping us improve the app. Your feedback helps us prioritise enhancements that make data entry faster on mobile.

Trial balance - Customise/Hide Columns in Working Trial Balance for Review
Can we have the ability to hide or adjust size/ minimise "reporting codes" & "adjustments", "Adjusted balance", "Variance" & "Assignee" - making this more customisable for easy review & based on what is important for each person.

Be sure to share this with any colleagues who would find this beneficial, encouraging them to add their vote as well. Community members can now also comment, offering more context on how this idea could improve their use of Xero.
