    Thanks to everyone that contributed and gave feedback to the teams survey that was shared in my last update.

    There was a lot of valuable insights that the team are able to take from this as they continue to plan whats next in invoicing.

    We understand and appreciate there are different flows for how our customers invoicing, and the timing of adding files can be dependent on these flows also.

    Our team are currently reviewing and exploring solutions to enable attachment of files to an invoice prior to the Contact. As soon as I have more news around this I'll be sure to share with you all through the idea here.

    Thanks for your support on the idea, everyone. We thoroughly appreciate your participation, and letting us know where you'd like to see change across Xero.

    Customer statements, is an area of Xero that needs upgrades to it's technology in order to make ideas like this one here possible.

    Currently, while we have plans for modernising this space soon we cannot commit to any new developments for Statements until this work has been complete. Once this has been done I'll round back to the idea here when we can reset the objectives.

  3. Invoicing - increase the number of invoices that can be sent on the Ignite Plan or have another plan between the ignite and grow plans that allows more invoices to be sent and bills to be entered without the current extras in the grow plan. The jump up in cost between these plans is too much.

  4. When creating a new invoice, the search scope includes every contact in the database, every vendor, evert coffee shop or gas station anyone ever used a credit card at. Xero knows which contacts are Customers (there's a Customer Invoice report), it should pull from Customers only. For the use case where someone is invoicing someone for the first time, they can open that Contact and then click New Invoice.

  5. In the Classic Invoicing, we could set a negative item amount which was useful to make it clear to clients that we had refunded something. It also corrected the stock levels in the inventory. In new Invoicing, you can set a negative financial amount but you are not allowed negative quantities, as such it is not clear and it messes up the stock inventory levels. You can do it via credit notes but this requires more things to be issued to clients etc.

  6. It would be great to be able to show two payment services on the invoice template. Currently you can only select one option from the drop down. We offer POLi payments and credit card payments via Stripe but cannot currently display both options using the invoice template. We have to manually select both options on each invoice & this is quite time consuming when issuing a large number of invoices.

    Thanks for sharing, Julie - It's good to hear you're aware of the ability to provide this on an invoice by invoice basis. It's not something we have plans for extending to Invoice templates/branding for the time being, but we'll track the interest from your idea here and share if any plans are made. 🙂

  7. Have also the change payee option, From copying the Purchase order to Invoice, so the customer from PO will remain in supplier contact lists only.

    Hi Janilyn, appreciate it's not an option when going through the copy to process. However, once the invoice is created you can click the 'x' next to the contacts name to remove and type the correct customers name.

    If the previous contact has only had purchase transactions entered for them, once you've remove them from the invoice they should not be shown in the customers list in your organisation.

With the currect feature History and note report we are able to see which invoice for example has been edited - change name of invoice - reconciled etc. However we would like to have a more detailed view, for example if an invoice is booked in USD and someone will change the currency in EUR we are not able to see this change , we can see only that the invoice is edited by X person but we are not able to see the change. How can we have this feature?

    Hi everyone, while we still have more changes planned in this space I wanted to fill you in on the more recent changes in this space.

    We have now added the ability to view the email an invoice was sent to in history, as well as adding timestamps for more insight into when an event was made.


  9. Send multiple invoices together on one email to the same customer with one 'pay now' button (e.g. for Stripe payment) rather than sending multiple emails which seem like spam to clients !

  10. Provide the ability to directly save invoice as a pdf like it did in classic invoicing, rather than opening it in Chrome and then having to click the download button etc, the old way was more efficient.

    Hi everyone, as of today we have released a change to this process. Rather than opening the PDF in a new browser window, now when you click Print PDF in new invoicing the file will automatically download for you to Print from your device. We thank you for your feedback on this.

  11. With the old invoice format—when you edit the invoice issue date, the due date doesn't change. When you edit the issue date with the NEW invoice format, the due date automatically changes. Not sure about others, but I don't want it to do that. I'll often issue an invoice in the first couple of days of the month but then immediately backdate it to the end of the previous month. I don't want the customer's due date to change. I change the due date back, manually, but again—it's more clicks.

    Thanks for the feedback on the behaviour of the dues date, community. Our product team have implemented a change to this as of today, so now if you update the issue date after you've set a specific due date, it will not automatically update the due date when you make issue date changes.

    We appreciate our customers have different expectations of the behaviour between issue and due dates in new invoicing - Along with other changes we're developing for the due date picker, we'll soon release the option to 'Reset to default due date' which will let you intentionally update the due date based on your invoice's contact's default due date (if set) or your organisations default due date, just by clicking this option.

  12. When using the search fund for INVOICES current options are: Enter Number, Reference, Contact or Amount. It would be nice to also be able to search by the account number issued to your clients.

  14. I've noticed in the new invoicing that the account column disappears when it is saved. While I don't want the account column shown on the actual invoice, I use this saved version in Xero to check that the correct account has been selected. I will not switch to new invoicing until this option is available as it would be extra time to edit the invoice to see which account was selected. Classic invoicing is a much better experience in my opinion.

    Thanks for staying tuned with us through the idea, here. As you may have seen when recently invoicing, we've released a new line item grid when the invoice is saved, and in view mode.

    Along with other enhancements this encompasses moving details into their own columns including the Account column. We appreciate your feedback and sharing on how this change could improve the experience for you.

  16. I would like a feature added so that we can add a billable expense to an Invoice even though a payment has been made by customer. It is crazy that you have to delete a deposit from a client so that you can then add a billable expense to the invoice for tracking. Customers pay a deposit then goods are ordered for their job.

  18. The new invoicing email sends a detailed summary of the invoice as part of the email. We would like the option to opt out for this like the old email template. We like to breakdown our invoicing internally for reporting purposes but the client does not need a breakdown of line items, just a total. We use custom invoicing templates so that we dont show line by line breakdown and the new email overrides this. Please do not switch off the old invoicing module until this is fixed. Downloading an invoice and sending it through my emails is time consuming…

    Hi everyone, we appreciate all the attention this idea has received and while I know this has been mentioned by others earlier in the conversation we wanted to confirm it is currently possible to remove the detailed summary from showing within the invoice email.

    This is controlled within Email settings and updating your email templates for sales invoice.

    If you open your template you'll see an option for 'Include action to online invoice and detailed summary'.

    Having checked in with our team we have no plans for changing this flow in the short term, however this is a one time action so once you uncheck and save the template you'll find this removes this formatting from any invoices you send with the template applied.

  19. Repeating Invoice: Sales Overview Screen - add a Last Updated Date to the Overview Screen

    Purpose: We use repeating invoices for the Auto Pay feature but most invoices need some form of adjustment before being sent each month. With a list of repeating invoices that goes on for pages it would be great to see the last date/time each invoice had been updated so that if you are interrupted during the monthly updating you can tell where you are up to when you come back to the Sales Overview screen, rather than needing to keep track…

  20. Currently you can put titles and notes etc on quotes and invoices etc. However the client does not see any of this. This is critical to be able to add notes etc that don't belong on a line item
