17 votesHi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding adding item 7A to the Business Activity Statement.
We understand that the ability to easily track deferred GST is crucial to your workflows.
Currently 7A on the BAS is a manual field, which does not update the figures on 1B. To adjust for this, we recommended the following workaround:
- Enter the original purchase as BAS Excluded.
- Once you have the Customs Entry form N10, you're entitled to claim a GST credit. Create a Bill with the value of the Deferred GST showing on the N10. Code this to your GST account (820 in the default Chart of Accounts) using the tax rate GST on Imports so that it shows separately in the Transactions by BAS field report and gets reported under 1B. You'll still need to manually add the Deferred GST to 7A.
- Create an account in the Chart of Accounts for Deferred GST on Imports. Enable payments to this account and use it to pay the Bill you created for the Deferred GST.
- When you pay the BAS to the ATO enter a Spend Money transaction with a separate line for the Deferred GST to clear the liability from the Deferred GST account you created.
To be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within Xero in the near future. We appreciate this is not the news you’d like to hear but we're still interested to get a clearer understanding of users that'd like to see this developed, and will continue to track this through the conversation here. If there's any change we will let you know on the thread.

Customer Statements - Add a Pay Now link
Ability to add a Pay Now link to statements so customers can pay all outstanding bills via the statement they receive.
Purpose: To make it easier for customers to view and pay their outstanding bills and make a bulk payment for all at once.

We wanted to pop back in to confirm that this form is now closed. If you were eligible for the early release, you'll be notified in Xero from 19 August when roll out commences.
Don't worry if you didn't quite make it into this first pool, we'll be widening the drop of this great new feature over the next few weeks.

Batch Payments - Bills stays selected/ticked on multiple pages
Ability to make the invoices that have been ticked in the previous page stays ticked.
Purpose: Because it’ll save users’ time when they’re doing batch payments, especially when they have to tick all the invoices across multiple pages.

While we're seriously taking on board your feedback for how and why being able to hold selections across pages would be helpful when processing batch payments, we want to be open that this isn't a focus area for product at this time.

Reporting: Sales Report - Track sales by sales person
Report that shows the total sales made by each sales person in an organisation
Purpose: Ease of being able to compare Sales reps stats across the organisation and/or overtime
10 votesHi community, as you've found Xero doesn't currently have a function that automatically tracks or calculates sales by sales person.
In the meantime, you could use tracking when you record your sales, which will allow you to report based on sales made by each sales person.
A suggested process is:
- Create a tracking category called something like 'Sales Rep', and create category options within the category for each of your sales staff.
- When a sales invoice or quote is created, you can include the staff member's name in the staff member (Tracking) field on the invoice/quote.
- You can then use the Tracking reports to see the sales that relate to each 'Sales Rep' and calculate commission manually outside of Xero.
If commission sales are a regular part of your business, you may wish to consider using one of our integrated App products. These integrate with your Xero organisation and may provide more extensive functionality around sales and reporting.

Email notifications: Expenses - Awaiting approval and Approved claims
Ability to trigger notification when expense claims are awaiting approval and approved status.
Purpose: So the approver can review the expenses faster and the one who’s asking for an approval don’t need to wait longer for approval.
132 votesHi team, we appreciate and thank everyone for feedback. While we began a roll-out for the notification changes mentioned in my last update, as shared in some of the recent comments this resulted in a fair amount of noise for some customers inbox.
We've made the decision to turn off the recent notifications changes.
We'd like to provide more controls around this so users can set a preference, however this does require a fair amount of work and not something we're able to do right now.
Please know we have keen eyes on this idea and when we're in a position to progress this again I'll share news with you all here. Thanks

Sales Invoices - Issue progress payments on invoices for project/instalment
Ability to issue progress payments on quotes /invoices to percentage claim certain items or expenses.
Purpose: Users can see the progress of the payments from their customer just from one invoice instead of sending separate invoices.

Right now as noted by others in the idea, one option for processing progress payments in Xero could be to use a draft invoice to keep track of the total amount, and using Copy to create new invoices for each progress payment, linking them back to the original project or quote in the description. It’s not a perfect solution, but may help manage the process.
We've been listening to your feedback and know there are multiple ways businesses operate - and we're exploring solutions for these workflows such as progress payments, and additionally, the ability to accept a deposit from a single invoice.
While we're unable to provide timeframes around this just yet, please know that this is a priority to us and we'll keep you updated on the progress through this idea.

Reconciliation - Allow credit notes to show and be selected on the find & match screen
Ability to show and can select credit notes on the find & match screen.
Purpose: To save time rather than having to go in and allocate the credit note against an invoice then going back to the bank reconciliation screen.

We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

In the interest of transparency at this stage this idea is not currently planned. However we’re still open to receiving feedback and votes. It could always be reconsidered at a later date.
In the meantime it’s worth highlighting (as a few have mentioned already) a workaround is to generate an invoice as a PDF and then edit the PDF externally. Alternatively our Xero App Store has many invoicing providers who may do this. You can browse the invoice providers here.
We’ll be sure to update you here if there’s any more news on this suggestion.

Multicurrency - Support for new currencies & Bitcoin
To have the ability to add additional currencies that are not on the standard list.
Purpose: Business accept payments in Bitcoin and have no way to add that to the currency list. This would allow the ability to calculate tax, profit, and loss from the currency/cryptocurrency that the business is using.

I follow the digital currency space closely, I find it incredibly interesting both sociologically as well as technically. However as a product manager my role is to ensure that my engineering group works on the things that create the most value, for the most people, and in alignment with the company's long term goals and aspirations.
Digital currencies continue to have an extremely passionate, but also extremely small group of users who want to see them handled in Xero. The cost remains very high for us to deliver this feature, and does not make a difference to enough peoples lives to justify that investment. There are a lot more touchpoints than many people appreciate to implement crypto properly. Huge decimal precision, UX, currency rate feeds, revaluation logic, reporting - all need changes to support this in the way that needs to be done to allow proper accounting.
Digital currencies aren’t prioritised in the next year, but our group is working on other initiatives which lay the groundwork so that in the future I truly believe we will be able to justify working on crypto, and that what we produce will be world class.
I continue to monitor this thread and I look forward to sharing news that is more in line with what you hope for in the future.

Reconciliation - Edit bank account for bank transactions (spend, receive, transfer, or payment)
Ability to edit a bank account without having to delete the transaction and then re-enter it in the correct account.
Purpose: Save time from deleting the transactions and entering them from scratch in the correct account.

Contacts - Automatic Credit Hold/Stop

As some of you are aware, you can edit a contact and set a credit limit, and optionally block new invoices when the credit limit is reached in new invoicing.
Understand that a few of you are asking for a feature to put a stop on a contact so they can’t be sent invoices regardless of what their credit limit is, as well as others who'd like to see this implemented on the supplier side.
We'd like to confirm that this is not something we have plans to develop at this time. We're still interested to get a clearer understanding of users that'd like to see this developed, and will continue to track this through the conversation here 👀

Tax - Multi-VAT tracking for EU companies
Ability to have multi-VAT tracking for EU companies.
Purpose: Because lots of companies in the UK are also registered VAT in other EU countries. So having this feature will make users easily calculate their tax.

Organisation settings: Email Templates - HTML template to send with invoices
Ability to create email templates using HTML.
Purpose: It’ll make users’ able to edit the email templates easily, especially when inputting their company logo.
58 votesWe appreciate the interest in more customisation when sending documents from Xero, everyone. Currently in the space of new invoicing we have recently released a new send modal that enables the use of rich text formatting, and allows you to cc and Bcc emails.
Currently this is limited to send of invoices with new invoicing only, however over time we will look at expanding this to other areas of Xero that you can send from. I'll keep you updated of any further enhancements surrounding this, here.
