    Hi everyone, thanks for your continued engagement and support for the idea of making tracking categories mandatory in Xero. We really appreciate you sharing your insights on the benefits that adding this feature would bring to your financial reporting and month-end processes.

    Right now, you could use find and recode to assign a tracking option to any transaction lines that are currently unassigned. 

    Regarding the future of this idea, we've carefully reviewed all your feedback and the critical need you've expressed for this feature. While we understand the value and time-saving potential this improvement would bring, we want to be transparent that making tracking categories mandatory across all relevant transactions isn't on our roadmap for development. If our position of this changes in time, we'll share an update for everyone, here. 

  2. Ability to mark an invoice as "shipped". I want to use repeating invoices, but it's an administrative nightmare having to use an external method to track which orders have been shipped to the customer. It's not like you can even download just the invoice header information into a spreadsheet and use that. The export option downloads all of the lines, as well.

    An invoice could have a field like "physical item to ship" or "requires processing after payment" that could be used to filter for "unprocessed" items.

    A tracking number would be useful, too. Setting it to "shipped" would…

  4. URGENT!!!! The new invoicing is quiet frustrating. It doesn't remember past settings when emailing the invoices. So now I need to remember EVERYTIME I send an invoice to click 'send me a copy', which I know I'm going to forget especially if I'm in a rush.

    ANNOYING!!!! There's an added step now to attach a pdf. I now need to click add files then drag the pdf, instead of simply dragging it and clicking to send with invoice or not.

    It would be good if the Save & Close button had and 'Email for Approval'. I email invoices (unapproved).…

    Hi team, recently we have released a new line item grid in invoicing and you will find there are a few updates the team have made to improve visibility. We've optimised the padding, text size and columns width to make this more compact so you can see more detail without the need to scroll.

  5. Add an expense date to a project

    When you enter expenses under projects, a date is required. We would like that date to appear on the invoices.

    Hi there 👋, like mentioned (Thanks Freya) when using new invoicing and you enter any data in the current line a new line will automatically be added below so you don't need to manually add new lines 🙂

  7. Could you please look at making the e-invoicing toggle button as default.
    This will allow the invoices raised in Xero Practice Manager to be sent to Xero and then sent in Bulk (email multiple clients from awaiting payment) rather than selecting it manually. This will save a lot of time and also allow the other side to receive the invoice in their system.
    Currently what it is doing is getting us to go into the invoice and then manually toggle this for clients we know are setup for e-invoicing. If this is handle automatically it will achieve its true purpose.

  8. Stop "Mark as sent" pop-up for every invoice. When making multiple new invoices, this pop-up occurs for each invoice made, no matter if reminders are turned off. This is new, started April 2024, and XERO support states there is no way to turn this off.

  11. It could be a glitch or just how the reports work, but Voided Invoices that were voided with a currency value in them, appear on the Receivable Invoice Summary with that value. So Invoice INV-45831 was for £123.00 but was voided. You can now no longer edit that invoice and in this report it eternally has the value of £123.00.

    This is an issue as the data is downloaded to extrapolate many different analysis for sales data.

    A bad fix after the data has been downloaded is to try filter and take out the ££ and change the data after…

  12. Having the option to show client or supplier on invoices.

    Purpose: Eliminates the need to go to contacts tab each time to look up the phone number to contact the person while going over the invoices. Also for the delivery person to be able to reach the receiver at point of destination or to make an arrangement for receiving as well.

  13. Listing Time Entries in Chronological Order in Invoicing for Projects.

    As raised in support case CX0012531595 - I use projects to create invoices for clients and show time entries for all tasks - the problem is that the draft invoice seems to put all the entries in random order rather than a date order - there is no way to sort by date so that it reads chronologically for the client. Interestingly you can run a report to list entries by date, so that functionality exists in the platform but it needs to be brought into invoicing. I have seen…

  14. To allow default settings for individual invoice templates. For example rather than set a default due date or currency for ALL invoices, allow individual invoice templates to be set there own due date timeframes , ie 7 days or immediate payment terms and also the same for currency.

    The more standardised we can make our templates, the less likelihood of user error.

  15. Please leave the history of an invoice EXACTLY as it was in the classic invoicing.

    The new invoicing doesn't show the invoice that it was copied from or copied to and this is very important as a trail.

    I really don't understand why so many important features from the classic invoicing has been omitted.

    Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to. 

    We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing. 

    We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land. 

  16. On the classic invoicing there is a send button at the top by email, print pdf etc that you can use to send to another xero customer. This feature is no longer on the new invoicing version. It would be good to have the send button back

    Hi Samantha, when referring to send would this be the 'Email' button in classic?

    If so this is actually still available in new invoicing, you'll find the option in the 3 dot menu at the top of the page 🙂

  17. In the account transactions report, the reference for batch deposits (of invoices) should be the payment reference.

    Currently, the individual invoice numbers are presented for batch deposits when you run account transactions.

  18. For internal control reasons the 'invoice settings' section should be only accessible for certain access types. Anyone with Xero access (excl read only) can go and adjust the bank account manually entered on the invoices sent to customers.

    It would be great to have this locked the same way bank account admin is for supplier payments.

    Hey community, thanks for all your support on this idea.

    Tax adjustment functionality varies by region, as this idea was raised relating to adjusting VAT in the UK I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered!

    To adjust the tax amount for a line item when creating a bill:

    1. Select the Tax exclusive option in the Amounts are field
    2. Click the + symbol next to the Tax Rate heading to show the Tax amount field.
    3. Edit the amount shown in the Tax Amount box.

    Our Adjust the VAT amount on unpaid transactions support article provides further information on this process.

    We have ideas for this similar option in the AU version here, and another for NZ here that you can follow for updates. For other regions, you’re welcome to create a new idea so we can gauge user need for this.
