  2. Would be easier for employees & team leaders approving leave if annual leave is able to be requested in days and half days. Or to have the option to select either days or hours when requesting annual leave through the Xero Me app.

    It's the most common complaint I hear from our employees that it would be way easier if they could just put in 1 day instead of working out the hours they want to take off.

    Hi everyone, we’re pleased to share that we’ve now released working patterns to all UK organisations that use Xero Payroll.

    This change reduces manual workarounds enabling you to enter more information employees’ working patterns to support accurate allocations of leave and earnings rates. You’ll find you can now;

    • Create or select from working pattern templates
    • Add working patterns manually or using the template
    • Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern

    We’ve shared a few videos on YouTube that’ll help guide you through the change 😊

    We really appreciate everyone who’s engaged with us on this idea and those who’ve been involved in testing some of the functionality with us through the journey.

  4. It would be good if payroll reports could be customised, i.e. after making a change to an existing report, such as Gross To Net report, the new template could be saved as a Custom Report.

    At the moment, it isn't possible to save the updated format, so I have to make the same changes to the standard report every month.

  5. Payroll doesn’t calculate pension until after you submit the payroll/RTI, so you don’t know what the actual net payments are until submitted. Try explaining to a client that what they signed off isn’t what they actual pay.

  6. I hope that there's separate columns for date and employee name as seen in the previous report as it's totally useful when summarising data for various period. For instance, when generating the old report, it's completely quicker to use the pivot table and other excel formulas to calculate the total hours work and the corresponding cost in a certain period and prepare a comparative report for various pay item/period and employee using the old payroll activity detailed report. It's a single payroll report where all the relevant information is included.

    Hiya team, thank you for sharing your feedback and letting us know the detail and why this is valuable to you. Based on feedback we received on the Employee name and Date columns the team have just released an update to the Payroll Activity Detailed report to include Employee name and Date as separate columns in the report and these will now show by default.

    This will help as noted when exporting and using the data for further analysis outside of Xero. 

  7. Add a box to payroll for an employee's preferred name, for those who don't use their legal name as their everyday contact, it doesn't need to link to ATO, so no major coding, just be there for reference when contacting the employee. I have several clients with staff that use their middle name or a different version of their first name, that they prefer when being addressed, and it being there in payroll would simplify things.

  10. Xero Payroll only subscriptions!

    It would be great to be able to open a payroll only Xero subscription for clients who currently don't need/use Xero for bookkeeping. For example, I have a small client who employees a few people but I only provide year end accounting services to which I use the Ledger subscription to complete the year end accounts. I currently utilise Sage payroll online for the monthly payroll reporting but if I could integrate this into Xero without the need for a main subscription, this would help me keep everything in one place.   11. I have clients whose bookkeeper does the payroll and also processes accounts payable/receivable invoices. Currently we can't have submit/draft only invoice access AND payroll access. This means that if they want to do payroll, they also get access to approval of invoices. Can we please create a user role where draft/payroll access is combined?

  12. UK Payroll - need a P32 report that can be printed/downloaded month by month in addition to the details provided for the whole year. Other payroll software's provide this as it's handy to have.

  15. It would be great to have a Leave Balances report that reported in hours to match the employees' payslip balances for management to use. The current leave balances report only shows accrued leave in dollars not hours.

    Appreciate your input here, everyone. This is a feature that our team have looked into and would like to develop for AU Payroll, however there are a few other key pieces of work lined up before they get a chance to explore this further.

  17. As the automatic journal for payroll is not able to be viewed before posting to accounts, we should have the option to turn off automatic journals. Currently, we have to post, then go back and do another journal to split out ER NI & Pension for different departments. This system is so unflexible.

  18. I've just set up a salary sacrifice for a cycle to work scheme in payroll. However there isn't an end date in Xero so I have to manually diarise a date to stop the salary sacrifice for the employees. Please could a box be added to automate this.

    Thanks for sharing with us here, community. While your idea has been reviewed by our product team we want to be open that we will not develop the ability to delete old pay runs. Instead, there is the mark as inactive option.


    We have rolled out new functionality in NZ payroll for timesheets, and while inactive ones are in the list, these are grouped together at the bottom, meaning you don't have to scroll through them, but can still view any old timesheets linked to that calendar.

  20. Ability to email payslip before the pay run is posted. This way the employee can come back to the pay clerk with any feedback on hours or allowances before the pay run is completed and filed through to myir. The reduces the need to revert the pay run before the "final" posting and payment made to employees. Reverting the pay run impacts on IRD when IRD have begun their processing as they have to do a manual amendment to pick up any changes once the pay run is re-posted. I have advised by IRD they have to make manual amendments…
