  1. Can we please extend the budget manager period from 12 months to more than 3 years or whatever is possible? The data in the budget manager does not go beyond 12 months and if the budget is to be changed after a year of upload it doesn't have such access.
    When working for a movie/film-making company the budget runs for more than 12 months and it needs to be changed time and again. But Xero doesn't have such an option which makes it impossible to get an accurate variance.
    It would be great help.

  2. When running reports, for the date range within the drop down, have 'last tax year' and 'this tax year' as options. Similar to the this and last financial year.

    Makes running reports for dividends, trivial benefits, payroll etc, much faster and better flow of information for accountants and clients.

    Should be a simple task for xero and will have a positive impact on all users.

    Hi Everyone, thanks for supporting this idea. It sounds like you're referring to how you can apply a date ranges to reports?

    Most reports in the UK version of Xero already allow you to set a range from the drop down, such as last/this month, last/this quarter, last/this financial year.

    Is there a specific report where you're not seeing this option?

    currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.

    I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by

    1. showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
    2. OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
    3. TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
    4. MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…

    Hi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.

    We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.

    Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.

    We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members.   4. The ability to transfer any one year budget or overall budget to another year
    This will facilitate annual budgeting as you don't need to start from scratch

  5. I would like to see the ability to customise the Fixed Asset Schedule. Currently it defaults to alphabetical order. In order for us to display the Fixed Asset types in a more logical order we need to name the fixed assets 1- Land, 2 - Buildings etc. We cannot add page breaks either which would be appreciated. We should be able to Edit the layout as we can with the other reports.

  6. Contacts report that shows contact details (name address etc) and Activity in last Financial Year.
    This would assist in cleanups of multiple contacts / old contacts etc.

  7. Why doesn't Xero display the currency symbol (like a $) in any of the financial reports like Balance Sheet, Income Statement, etc.? We get only the plain numbers without knowing they are in U.S. dollars (in my case) and make these basic financial reports harder than necessary to read.

  8. Currently we create a budget for each tracking category (department).

    I have created a custom report which includes the budget for each category. I then use the formula function to sum the budgets together.

    I only want to see the formula column in the report outputted. (I realise that columns can be hidden when data is exported to Excel)

    I understand that there is not a way to show a formula column without all the individual budget columns.

    Enhancement suggestion: include a radio button for each column to hide/reveal that column in the report

  9. In the Business Snapshot all of the comparatives are to previous year. In a startup this isn't meaningful as prior year balances are nil, but month-to-month or quarter-to-quarter comparatives would be super useful. In established businesses also, monthly and quarterly comparatives can be very useful.

  10. Reporting - to run a report that can show payment information (eg. paid date) and reference/item information.

    A report under cash basis does not show the reference that I put on the invoice reference or the item information chosen in the invoice, it is really hard to search receivable payment based on the information I need (PFA).
    A xero support specialist explained that because there is no reference on the payment, I can only search by Contact name or invoice number. But, when we do reconciliations to match the bank received with the invoice, there is nowhere to add an…

  12. On the Fixed Asset Register can there be a column for showing Tracking Catergories?

    We deal with clients in the Hospitality Industry and a portion of them operate multiple sites.

    It would be handy to have an option in the Fixed Asset Register so we can quickly identify which assets belong to Pub A, Pub B, Pub C etc.

    The inclusion of a filter to only show the Fixed Assets of a particular site would also be a huge benefit.

    We know that the Register can be exported to Excel which will show the Tracking Catergories but something within Xero…

  13. Many of my clients are partnerships and trade using the partners initials e.g. J & J Doe but on their reports it displays as %26 and on emails that they are sending with sales invoices, it displays as "& amp;" meaning that when I save reports or they send their invoices, this has to be changed. Having worked in a software house previously, I know that this is a programming issue and one that should have a relatively simple fix so can you please look at this.

  14. existing threshold for Xero fixed assets is 500 - increase this to 5,000 to avoid having to use a separate app (which are clunky / expensive) to manage fixed assets

  15. The Danish Business Authority requires Accounting Systems to be approved by them in order for you to use their system in the country. XERO currently have no plans to get approved by them, I think they should get approval from DBA, and other countries, to enable subsidiaries of Global companies to use the same software as their parent companies.

  17. Manual Journals - Ability to to set Tax Defaults in Financial Settings like you can for sales and purchases. This will enable the user to set it to Tax inclusive and every time a new journal is created it will be tax inclusive instead of no tax.

    Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding adding item 7A to the Business Activity Statement.

    We understand that the ability to easily track deferred GST is crucial to your workflows.

    Currently 7A on the BAS is a manual field, which does not update the figures on 1B. To adjust for this, we recommended the following workaround:

    1. Enter the original purchase as BAS Excluded.
    2. Once you have the Customs Entry form N10, you're entitled to claim a GST credit. Create a Bill with the value of the Deferred GST showing on the N10. Code this to your GST account (820 in the default Chart of Accounts) using the tax rate GST on Imports so that it shows separately in the Transactions by BAS field report and gets reported under 1B. You'll still need to manually add the Deferred GST…
  20. The current Tracking Summary Report is quite inflexible. I'm unable to filter by Account Code, edit the report layout, nor save as a custom report. It would be good if this report design could be refreshed to include these features, and to bring the report inline with the newer style reports.
