Invoicing - Due Date to default to invoice date.
Invoice and bill due dates to default to issue date.
As above. Basically when you enter the initial date of an invoice or a bill, the due date defaults to the date you have entered. This will save additional data entry if your dates are the same.
In the case of a franchise where Remits are sent via a supporting booking software, the invoice/bill due date is always the same as the issue date.
Please default the due date to the invoice date once selected. but still obviously give the option to change the due date…
2 votesHi Adam, there are a couple of options here including the suggestion that Geoff's provided. 🙂
Right now, within Invoice Settings you can set a default for the Due Date, this could be based on the invoice issue date if you choose.
It's also possible to set a due date for an individual contact within their contact record.

Invoices - Date columns for individual line items
Ability to add date columns for individual line items.
Purpose: To make users easily put a date for each item. The scenario that can benefit users is for them to show a specific date of when the product/service is delivered.
178 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the interest in being able to add dates to individual lines of an invoice. Currently our team are focused on improvements to new invoicing and we want to be upfront we don't have any plans for adding a date column to the details grid within an invoice atm.
Right now if you do require dates for individual line items we'd recommend adding these within the Description field of the line.
We will continue to review this as we continue to evolve the product. If there are any updates or changes, we'll share this all with you through the idea here. Thanks

Invoice Due Date
I have a suggestion for Invoicing improvement.
I produce about 30 repeating invoices per week which appear as drafts. In order to spread my work flow the drafts 'arrive' over each weekend ready to be finalised and sent out each Tuesday and Wednesday. The draft invoice carries the invoice date (say a Sunday), which I then have to modify to reflect the actual date (say a Tuesday). It would be helpful to me if the Xero automatically recalculated the payment due date when I input the modified invoice date.
3 votesHi Keith, there are a range of date entry shortcuts that you can use to calculate the due date field - See these listed in our help
So for example you could enter +[number]d for days after the invoice date.

Bills | List view - 'View' bulk approved bills in Awaiting payments
The view box that comes up when you approve bills is utterly useless, you can't do anything with them, I don't see the point. Before the recent changes, when you approved more than one bill, you could click on the view tab at the top of the page and be directed directly to these bills in awaiting payment, from that screen you could schedule them for payment. Now you have to approve them and then go to awaiting payment, search for the bills you just approved, make sure that the bills that come up in the search are indeed…

Invoices - Bulk update Due Date
Ability to flag multiple invoices and update the due date.
Purpose: It saves users’ time to update the due date in bulk, especially when their customers have some special terms that can change the due date of invoices.
22 votesThanks for your feedback and support here, everyone. We appreciate how bulk update of the payment date of invoices will save you time and give more accurate cash flow projections.
As part of the latest enhancements with Xero Analytics our insights team have developed this capability within Short-term cashflows! - You can now update the expected payment date of 10x invoices at a time 😊 - See help on Xero Central for more detail

New Invoicing - Reset to Default Due Date option
New invoicing is missing the ability to select the default due date that is against the customer. I had to change the invoice date for a customer with set payment terms of 30 days from the invoice date and there were several suggestions listed but the old option to reset to default date was missing.
160 votesQuick roll out here 😊 the improvements for the date selector are now live to all users including the ability to Reset to default due date.
Just remember the default will be based on the setting in the contacts record, or if there is none saved this will default to the options set in your Invoice Settings.
Appreciate all your feedback and sharing with us through the idea here.

UK Payroll - Edit approved leave requests
The leave process is not flexible enough. Once a request is approved, it can't be changed - only declined which is incorrect. Need to be able to amend/delete after approved. There should be the option to book as days not hours as our employees have day entitlement, this should also be able to be shown on payslip as days remaining. Why also is the leave balance report not being opened to UK

Email templates - Ability to format date placeholders
Feature: I'd like to be able to format the [Due Date] field when it's included in email templates.
Use Case: My standard emails include a line which reads "This invoice will be due for payment by 09 Oct 2023". I have to reformat the date to a more readable style every time.
Basic Outcome: Using standard date formatting you should be able to express the date as "Monday 9 October, 2023" - note that the leading "0" on the date number has been omitted, and also the inclusion of a comma after the month.
Ideal Outcome: The due date…

Bills - Assign planned date within individual bill
Usually, the options when you make a new bill would be "create new, copy, edit, etc" and date issued, date due, but no date planned to pay. SoI hope that one day there would be an additional option of "schedule for payment at date" because sometimes there are so many bills lying around and going to the "ALL" tab in Bills to pay, to find which are the bills that haven't had a schedule yet to schedule it is kind of inconvenient. So if I may, I would like a small additional option to be able to assign a…
50 votesHi everyone, returning to confirm that Quick view for bills has now been released to all users.
You'll see while still on the list view when you click the 'eye' icon you can see full detail of your bill and make a few quick actions including the ability to add a planned date.
I appreciate there are a couple of recent comments still wanting to see this in the individual bill page - please give this option a try and feedback if still does not meet your needs. We may open another idea to get a refreshed sense of the interest. Thanks

Quotes - Attach PO to approved quote
PO to approved quote. My customers want to add their PO number and possibly an attachment upload to an approved quote when they select approve on the link. This should be very simple to fix. Also, then this would give us more capabilities in the approval process by allowing documentation to be added to the quote directly from the customer. This way it will tell me when I invoice them what PO was on the order. Also, they were asking for a place to put notes as well. They have notes on a reject but not approve.

Billable expenses - show invoice date
Please show the date of invoices in billable expenses.. It is easier for us to search the invoice..
24 votesHi everyone, appreciate the feedback of the layout of detail in the Billable expenses modal of new invoicing. I've made sure to share your feedback here with the team.
To confirm, right now the date column is still included in this view however if you have a few billable expenses to assign you'll need to scroll down and then will see a horizontal scroll bar so you can scroll across to the date. Understand this isn't the most obvious atm, and I'll keep you updated here of any planned change.

AU Payroll - Edited leave request date, email notifies employee of the wrong date
Edited Leave request date sends a notification to the employee for the wrong date. We recently had an employee request an RDO for 19/07/2024. After discussion with the employee this date was not suitable because the employee was due to provide training to a customer this date so we agreed to change the date to the following week (26/07/2024).
I then edited the leave request to be for the 26/07/2024 and approved the request.
The employee received an email notification that their request for leave on the 19/07/2024 was approved!
The employee then contacted me because they were…

Invoices: Customise items in 'Due date' dropdown list
Currently, when creating an invoice, the payment terms dropdown gives you the following options:
- Today
- 7 days
- 14 days
- EOM +1
- EOM +20
- end of next month
I would like to customise this list; the Australian government has recently brought in payment standards of 5 days if sent by e-invoice and 20 days if not, for all invoices sent to all non-corporate Commonwealth entities (including Defence) and neither of those are amongst the standard options. This means that I have to manually change the due date based on the contract for every invoice sent…12 votes -
New invoicing - Ability to enter +0 for due date
New Invoicing - Due Date: entering +0 currently records the due date as 7 days from invoice date. This feature is useful when due date is same as invoice date. All other numbers work (eg +5, +6, +7 etc) but +0 does not. Please fix this.
23 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your patience while we worked on developing shortcuts into new invoicing.
We have now released an update and you'll find you can use the same shortcuts you used to in classic such as +0 or 't'. Thanks for all your feedback on this here.

Trial Balance - Ability to run for a date range
The ability to run a date range in a Trial Balance report.
Purpose: Having more flexibility when running the report by having the date range function.
71 votesHi team, we're grateful for your contributions and support in the ability to run the Trial Balance report for a date range. In the last few months we released our new version of Xero's General Ledger report which can solve the underlying needs of what's being asked here.
With the General Ledger Summary and Detail reports you'll be able to get a view of all accounts with a balance. Mentioned by a few in comments there's the ability to include or exclude opening and closing balances from these reports.
Most fundamentally asked here - these reports can both be run across a common date range or a custom date range for extended periods.
- Worth noting in difference to the Trial Balance YTD column, when running the new GL reports across a change of FY date range will show Net movement in the period and does not capture roll-over journals

New Invoicing - Typeable dates in Date fields
On the old invoices/bills I could type "18/2/23" and it would auto fill 18th February 2023. Now I have to scroll back multiple months to get there. It would be good if I could type in the date field boxes again. Specifically on "Add Payment"
310 votesWe're pleased to announce that with our latest update you have the ability to directly type dates when making payments on invoices! We know this was a highly requested feature, and we appreciate everyone who voted and shared their input.
For those familiar with our Xero Central article on keyboard shortcuts, you'll be happy to know that all those shortcuts are now fully functional in this date field, as well as all other date fields throughout your invoices.
While a direct dropdown for "yesterday" isn't available, you can quickly enter the previous day's date by typing 't-1'.
As this update delivers the majority of the changes discussed in this idea, we'll now mark it as delivered.
We also heard the feedback from some users who prefer to use a full stop (.) as a date separator instead of the forward slash (/) or hyphen (-). There's a specific idea,…

Invoices - Ability to manually mark multiple invoices as sent
The ability to mark any/all invoices as sent - even if using the copy/share function to send invoices to clients.
Not all invoices are sent via email. A tick/flick box to mark off any invoices that have actually been sent via the copy/share function would be handy. There could also be another box that would act as a reminder to follow up after 'X' amount of days if the invoice remained outstanding, in the same sort of format that follow-up emails are automatically sent for payment reminder.

Custom Report - Update-able date column
When building custom reports, currently there is no way to add a Date column that updates to match the date range specified when viewing the report.
This is available on all pre-defined reports, but can not be added as part of a custom report.
There are many cases where it is desirable to build a report template that can be run for different, user-specified, date ranges, without having to edit the report each time.
21 votesHi community, rounding back on the idea here this is now possible. When editing layout to add columns you'll see there's an option to 'Follow report date range' so your custom date columns will automatically update based on the date you run the report for. Thanks
