  1. The new invoicing email sends a detailed summary of the invoice as part of the email. We would like the option to opt out for this like the old email template. We like to breakdown our invoicing internally for reporting purposes but the client does not need a breakdown of line items, just a total. We use custom invoicing templates so that we dont show line by line breakdown and the new email overrides this. Please do not switch off the old invoicing module until this is fixed. Downloading an invoice and sending it through my emails is time consuming…

We’ll send you updates on this idea

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the attention this idea has received and while I know this has been mentioned by others earlier in the conversation we wanted to confirm it is currently possible to remove the detailed summary from showing within the invoice email.

This is controlled within Email settings and updating your email templates for sales invoice.

If you open your template you'll see an option for 'Include action to online invoice and detailed summary'.

Having checked in with our team we have no plans for changing this flow in the short term, however this is a one time action so once you uncheck and save the template you'll find this removes this formatting from any invoices you send with the template applied.

  2. Classic view invoicng compared to the new view invoicing. The new version shows figures entered as 123456789.00 but Classic View correctly shows 123,456,789.00. All figures should be shown in 123,456,789.00 format. It's accounting after all! This is not a suggestion, this should be a bug fix, especially before new invoicing is enforced.

  3. xero to xero Invoicing

We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.

On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key).

Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?

    Thank you

We’ll send you updates on this idea

Hi everyone! Back to share that Xero to Xero is now live within invoicing. Thank you for all your valuable contributions and sharing in product ideas.

As mentioned in my last update, with the way that we've built this within invoicing we've been able to also enable the ability to include file attachments when sending via the network 😊

See more details on how to send via a single invoice, or multiple, on Xero Central.

Right now, this is live to all but Singapore organisations. We're still doing a bit of work to provide this capability to Singapore and I'll update again when available in this region.

  4. I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

Hi community, as mentioned in my last post we want to keep you looped in on changes around autosave.

Our product team has continued to focus attention on how we can make invoicing faster and more responsive to improve our customers' experience.

We've recently optimised autosave to require less processing power, leading to faster invoice loading and saving.

Our decision remains that we won’t be adding an option to turn off autosave on invoices. However, we hope this change improves your experience with autosave in draft invoices over time. Thanks again for your feedback.

  5. Display the item PRODUCT CODE (similar to the old invoicing) - we have a lot of similarly named products, so need to see the product code to differentiate.

Quick turn around on this one, team. Today we've released a change, and you'll now find item code is shown when viewing an invoice with new invoicing. Thank you for your feedback and voting on this idea.

  6. The new invoicing will not allow e-invoicing without an ABN attached which defeats the purpose . Bring back the classic invoicing.

  7. In the classic invoicing, when I am approving my invoices draft then I click "Approve and view next", it goes in the next invoice subsequent number.

In the new invoicing version, when I click on "Approve and view next", it goes directly to the last invoice number instead of the next one. I have a lot of drafts to approve and it has to be in the right order.

For this reason, I stay with the classing invoicing. I might consider switching back to new invoicing if this issue can be resolve in the future.

Appreciate your feedback on how you use invoicing and the benefit you find in being able to approve and view the next invoice in sequential invoice number order. As we continue to plan further developments within this space, our product teams would like to engage you all here to get a better sense of our invoicing users for future improvements. We’d find your feedback invaluable and if you’d be interested in sharing with us, please fill in our survey here.

  8. New invoicing...Very slow page load speeds to both open/create a new invoice on the new invoicing platform...and also to add a payment.

Current wait time is 15-20 seconds per page load.

Ive cleared cache and cookies to no avail

I have uploaded some shorts on you tube for you to see the problem.

Appreciate the short videos and can see what you're saying, Chris - Have you raised a case with our Xero Support team about the slowness in loading?

Actual slowness in the page loading are issues that we'd like to dig into deeper as they aren't occurring for all users so it'd be good to be able to investigate one on one with our Xero Support team who can escalate if needed. Thanks

  9. Xero, it is another shocking mistake in new invoicing. To do the job I had to switch to classic invoicing.

I had to correct a "GST on income" amount in the locked period. So, I had to record a zero-balance invoice. I hope that somebody in the production team does understand accounting and knows why this correction is done as a zero-balance invoice.

An error message popped up in new invoicing: Zero balance invoice can't be saved.

    It is a joke, right!?

Please fix it as soon as possible.

Hi team, thanks for all adding your interest and following the idea here. Our product team have recently taken a closer look over the root cause of the error users were receiving when trying to approve a 0.00 invoice with negative tax.

They've released a change that resolves this, so you should no longer receive an error when trying to approve invoices of this nature.

We appreciate the feedback raised on this through the idea. If you do run into any scenario where receive this error again, please raise a case with our specialists at Xero Support who can deep dive in with you to investigate.

  10. In old invoicing, when you used Copy and Merge into a new invoice, it kept each of the original invoice's items together in order, including the first line description. In the new Invoicing, it groups together all of the like items from each invoice which is incorrect. This needs to be addressed.

Hi Lisa, it'd be good to get a closer look at some of the invoices you've copied and merged from and to, so we can get a better look at what's going on for you here.

I've just tested creating invoices with Copy and merge from the list view using the same inventory items, however these are created as separate lines on the new draft invoice.

If you can raise a case with our team of specialists through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of this page, they can get more detail to investigate and confirm.

  11. When a selecting the new invoicing platform, you lose certain functions.
The first function that has been lost is the ability to copy invoice data to a purchase order - this feature needs to added to the new platform as some business use this to purchase items that have been sold from a supplier and makes sure there are no errors.
The second function is when invoicing from Project the time entered for that project is no longer being allocated to an invoice and showing in the project as not invoiced, this will cause doubling up on billing.

Hi everyone, we appreciate your continued input and feedback on this feature here. Being able to copy to purchase orders and bills is something our team are monitoring feedback of closely and very much across the this idea, however there are a few other priority pieces of work that are currently of focus.

Right now, it is still possible to copy an invoice to a purchase order or bill from the list views(Draft, Awaiting approval, Awaiting Payment or Paid tabs). You'll find you can select the invoice/s and click 'Copy to...' - You can find out more detail and ways of doing things within new invoicing through our guide on Xero Central.

We'll keep you in the know here of any progress or updates for this feature.

  12. Please remove the invoice amount from the "New Invoicing"

This should be optional for set templates like the classic invoicing where you could turn it off and on. It doesn't look great and prefer the older layout of the emails where you could control the layout more.

  13. Provide the ability to directly save invoice as a pdf like it did in classic invoicing, rather than opening it in Chrome and then having to click the download button etc, the old way was more efficient.

Hi everyone, as of today we have released a change to this process. Rather than opening the PDF in a new browser window, now when you click Print PDF in new invoicing the file will automatically download for you to Print from your device. We thank you for your feedback on this.

  14. Remove New invoicing description Character limit. Currently the limit is 4000 which isn't enough for large customer invoices.

Hi everyone, thank you to everyone that participated in our teams survey from my last update. We appreciate your insights and these continue to help inform our teams of where they can best focus their efforts, as they continue to develop invoicing.

We don't have any plans at this stage to increase the Description field character limit from 4,000, however we're interested to continue tracking the interest in community and understand what the optimal amount of characters would be for our customers.

If there are any changes we will share an update with you all, here.

  15. I've noticed in the new invoicing that the account column disappears when it is saved. While I don't want the account column shown on the actual invoice, I use this saved version in Xero to check that the correct account has been selected. I will not switch to new invoicing until this option is available as it would be extra time to edit the invoice to see which account was selected. Classic invoicing is a much better experience in my opinion.

Thanks for staying tuned with us through the idea, here. As you may have seen when recently invoicing, we've released a new line item grid when the invoice is saved, and in view mode.

Along with other enhancements this encompasses moving details into their own columns including the Account column. We appreciate your feedback and sharing on how this change could improve the experience for you.

Hi everyone, we appreciate you engaging with us here and your patience while we got this developed in new invoicing. We have now released the ability to attach a file from your file library, and you'll see this option when you click 'Attach files' at the bottom of the invoice. Thanks

  17. It’s not possible to view the original invoice exchange rate in New Invoicing. New invoicing only shows the current exchange rate. I have to revert to classic invoicing to see what rate was used when posting the invoice.

  18. In Classic Invoicing there is an X to delete a line. In New Invoicing I have to click on the 3 dots then select Remove from the 2 options that are displayed (Save to inventory or Remove). Please can the function of a single click on the X be retained.

Thanks for your feedback and tuning into the idea here, everyone. Our team have been doing a lot of work in this space to iterate on new invoicing and improve the experience for our customers.

With one of our most recent updates the team implemented a change to the way you delete lines of your invoice. You'll now see a small 'bin' icon at the end of each line enabling you to easily delete lines as needed, without any extra clicks. 🙂

  19. In the classic invoicing history, we can see the date and timestamp, this is not available in the new invoicing - see attached screenshots.

We use this time stamp a lot for trouble shooting - like what time or XPM and what time was the invoice approved. This helps if there is an integration problem or double up, or payment query.

Well that was quick! 😉 It turns out along with an entry when an invoice is sent, our product team also managed to release time stamps 🎉

In history & notes of new invoicing, next to the date you'll now see a time stamp of when an entry occurred. Thank you all who voted and shared with us on the idea, here.

  20. The new invoicing system no longer shows the invoice number on the tab. It's handy when going between programs to use the said invoice number
