  1. open attached files (especially PDFs) in the current window (same as old invoicing), not in a new tab which is automatically happening with new invoicing.
    is frustrating as you now need to go back and forth between tabs if you want to transpose info from the attachment into the invoice.
    Much more user friendly the old way with a resize-able/move-able viewing window within the same tab

    Hi team, thanks for staying tuned into the idea here for update of files preview. Our team have released a change, and you'll now find when you 'view' a file attached to an invoice this'll now show a side by side view so you can transcribe any detail as needed from the attachment to your invoice. ✨

  2. New Invoicing: In the classic invoicing, I can click in the discount area and the discount set in a customer's profile is automatically entered. I don't want to have to go in and look up each customer's discount every time I create an invoice. In the new invoicing, when I click in there it just waits for me to type something in.

    Hi team, from new invoicing once you add a contact any sales defaults you have saved will be applied. Simply enter a Qty or Price and the discount saved for that contact will be applied.

    If you're not seeing the discount column on your invoice, click the show/hide fields on the left above the invoice body and make sure this has been selected.

  3. New invoicing is missing the ability to select the default due date that is against the customer. I had to change the invoice date for a customer with set payment terms of 30 days from the invoice date and there were several suggestions listed but the old option to reset to default date was missing.

    Quick roll out here 😊 the improvements for the date selector are now live to all users including the ability to Reset to default due date.

    Just remember the default will be based on the setting in the contacts record, or if there is none saved this will default to the options set in your Invoice Settings.

  4. New Invoicing - Add last items

    The new invoicing interface currently being rolled out does not include this feature. This feature is fundamental to my use of Xero for invoicing.

  5. Despite some condensing of information and improvements to the appearance of new invoicing, it continues to display information with less clarity and efficiency than before. This is only one example but on classic invoicing, entering a tracking category that was too large for the field would cause the vertical height of that row to increase. Now new invoicing simply cuts off the field after a certain character limit.

    This system is not ready for default deployment and you have no idea how bad the support storm is going to be on the 2nd of September. Please push back…

    Hi everyone, our new line item grid has been released, and you'll find with this update along with other changes, that all fields now wrap. So if you have an account, tax rate or code that is a little longer you'll be able to see the full name of this when invoicing. We appreciate all your feedback on improving new invoicing to suit your needs here. Thanks

  6. Can you make the VAT amendable on the new invoicing system. We link with the Clover till system and the vat is always a few pence out, but the new invoicing doesn't allow us to change the vat amount.

    Hi Lindsey, you should find that you can add a Tax Amount column within new invoicing which will allow you to change the tax amount of the individual lines so you can correct the cents between your other system and Xero.

    Hi Debbie, we'll move this across to delivered as mentioned in my last update it is possible to assign items of your invoice to Projects you've set up.

    If you're not seeing this column by default, you can click the 'Show/hide fields' button to add this to the grid view.

    If you've set up tracking for your projects and are interested in being able to add a new tracking category while invoicing we have a different idea for this across here that you can join for updates.

  8. Have less white space on new invoicing as it fills screen. The notes section which is in contacts 4000 chars make visable and editable on the new invoice page so we can see it whilst creating and invoice. We dont then have to keep jumping from one page to the next.

    Hi team, taking a lot of our customers feedback onboard we've just released a new line item grid that encompasses many improvements our customers have been asking for. With this change, our product team have optimised padding, font size and column width, reducing the amount of white space and providing a more compact view. For many customers this means less scrolling and better visibility of the contents of fields like Account and Tax Rate which are now wrapped so you can see the full contents. 

    We value all the feedback we've received from customers as we keep developing this experience. Please continue to add your votes to what matters most to you, our product teams continuously lean into your feedback and trending ideas from the forums here as they plan more improvements.

  9. When sending an invoice to a new customer using the new invoicing you can only add one address line before the Town/City field. With the old invoicing you could add multiple address lines before the Town/City field (as you can also do with their Contact page and clicking edit).
    With new invoicing this is difficult. Every time you need to add an address to a new invoice going to a new contact within the invoice screen then you only have one address line above the town/city field.

    Hi team, we’ve made and released some recent enhancements to the ‘Contact’ field and contact card within new invoicing.

    Hearing your feedback here, we added more address lines to the contact card within new invoicing so you can add your full customer’s delivery or billing address on the fly. You’ll also see you can quickly look up and select addresses for your contact, as well as edit or add the Attention to without needing to go to the contact record.   10. New Invoicing - Due Date: entering +0 currently records the due date as 7 days from invoice date. This feature is useful when due date is same as invoice date. All other numbers work (eg +5, +6, +7 etc) but +0 does not. Please fix this.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate your patience while we worked on developing shortcuts into new invoicing.

    We have now released an update and you'll find you can use the same shortcuts you used to in classic such as +0 or 't'. Thanks for all your feedback on this here.

  11. URGENT!!!! The new invoicing is quiet frustrating. It doesn't remember past settings when emailing the invoices. So now I need to remember EVERYTIME I send an invoice to click 'send me a copy', which I know I'm going to forget especially if I'm in a rush.

    ANNOYING!!!! There's an added step now to attach a pdf. I now need to click add files then drag the pdf, instead of simply dragging it and clicking to send with invoice or not.

Can the New Invoicing Template have a the original way to change the date instead of opening the date dropdown to then have to open the "Pick another Date" option if it's not today or yesterday.. If it was today it would already have that day selected, so why is it an option? just added extra steps to select the correct date..

    Hi team, the improvements to the date selector are now live to everyone! Thank you again, for all your feedback.

    Along with this change, we also recently released an update to date entry shortcuts so you can now enter the same shortcuts that you had with classic invoicing such as +0 or 't' for today's date.

    With copy and paste you'll find you can copy and paste dates however these will currently need to contain a '/' or '-' between the day-month-year to appear correctly.

    We appreciate there are other options when selecting dates that our customers would like to see and there are other ideas that you may also like to vote and join for updates.

  13. New Invoicing - Show selected From Email

    The old invoicing would show which Email address would be used as the from email when emailing an invoice to a client. This is an important double check to be sure I'm using the correct email address for the particular client. Since this has been removed I now have to remember to check the Email settings in a different tab before sending every invoice, which is very time consuming and is the primary reason I switch back to Classic every time I try the frustrating "New Invoicing" system after suffering through its…

    Hi team, coming back around the idea here I wanted to share that with the new invoicing send window, you'll be able to see the reply to when sending an invoice from the right side preview.

    Appreciate there may be some in the discussion here that would also like the ability to change this when sending which isn't currently in our plans however please do vote on this idea if that's something you'd like to see. 🙂

    Hi community, we appreciate your ongoing engagement with us through the idea here. We've now released updates to the ‘Contact’ field within new invoicing - With the changes we’ve made, you can now look up and quickly find a contact delivery or billing address as you’ve been requesting. Other improvements we’ve made include; being able to enter more address lines, and an Attention to for each address on the fly.

  15. We have many suppliers that reject invoices if we send them direct from Xero. Hence we have to download a PDF copy and email it manually from our finance inbox. This process now takes 5 clicks as opposed to one click in classic invoicing. The new process is to click "Approve & Email", but then to exit this screen. Then move across the screen to the left top corner and check the box to mark it as "sent", then move all the way back to the right and click "Print PDF" and then wait for it to open in…

    Hi community, today we released the ability to mark an invoice as sent when printing in new invoicing. Now, when you select to 'Print PDF' you'll receive a prompt to ask if you'd like to mark the invoice as sent - see in my image below. Thanks again for your engagement on this here 😊

  16. Thanks for allowing the contact to remain when copying an invoice over - but please can you allow the defaults for the contact e.g. Tax rate to pull through as well?
    I have found when changing the account, or just adding a new item, that it is not bringing this in (as the little warning states when you are copying) but this is a real pain as you have to keep checking the Tax rate and amending when it isn't correct for that contact.

    Quick spotting there, team. Thanks for staying engaged through this idea. I can confirm that this was a bonus change that has been implemented with the release of other improvements in the Contact field.

    As you've noted, now when you copy an invoice and select the same contact it will auto apply that contact's defaults.

    Our team are working to remove that warning that defaults won't be applied so you should see that go soon.

  17. Currently: In new invoicing we are provided with suggested items when completing fields such as "To:".
    Using Enter at this points selects that highlighted suggestion, but using Tab ignores the highlighted item.

    Request: Enable Tab to be used in new invoicing to confirm a highlighted selection. The same function as Enter currently provides within this context.
    Tab is an active keyboard option in other areas of Xero such as Bank Reconciliations so this would keep the UI more consistent.

    Hi team, we recently made a change to the tabbing behaviour, so now when you tab to a field and highlight an option, tabbing to the next field will hold the selection that was highlighted.

    For example pressing Tab in the 'To' field will hold the highlighted contact, and move you onto the 'Issue date' field.

  18. On the new invoicing, when additional columns are selected, a scrollbar is added to the invoice layout and interrupts the smooth capture process. Having to manually scroll from one side to the other to view details is not ideal.

    Consider either auto-adjusting the column widths or allow for the automatic expansion of the invoice layout width when additional columns are selected. This way, users could view all necessary details without the need for manual scrolling.

    We appreciate everyone's patience as we developed this work. I'm now pleased to share that we've released a new line item grid within invoicing that embodies a lot of changes our customers have been asking for. Most importantly to the idea here, our teams have optimised the padding, text size and columns width to make this more compact so you can see more detail without the need to scroll. 

    You'll also find that all fields now wrap rather than truncating so you can see all the detail of your cell. Thank you all for contributing and engaging with us, here.

  19. Immediately after creating an invoice, you approve it, then a series of boxes appears at the bottom of the screen allowing you to receive the payment. Once payment is applied you can send the receipt to the customer. This is ESSENTIAL for accepting cash payments or any payment made at the time of delivery but before sending the invoice. Please add this feature from OLD invoicing to New invoicing.

    Hi Fiona, it's not necessary to send an invoice before adding a payment. Once an invoice is created in new invoicing the default option is 'approve and send' but 'approve' can be selected instead. A payment can then be added and receipt sent, with a similar workflow to classic invoicing.

    Atm there's no way to set the default approve option for an invoice. However, this has been raised as an idea across here if you'd like to add your vote. 🙂

  20. When using Classic version of invoicing, there was an option to Add a new line and then a drop down option to Add 5, Add 10, Add 20 lines.

    In the New version of invoicing, this option seems to have disappeared?

    Please provide this option if this has not already been provided. I can only seem to add a new line after entering the first line of information.

    I found the Add 5 and Add 10 lines really helpful when I'm copying similar job items down a list than having to tab across to get to the next…
