  1. So simple but not available. To record an absence i.e. sickness (unpaid) IN DAYS and to have a simple report showing dates and number of days sick.

  2. Ability to import the number of days of annual leave/other leave taken per employee for the month. It is very time consuming to manually add the leave taken for each employee when completing the payroll each month.

  3. UK doesn't currently have the remuneration report. This is a basic fundamental requirement on payroll.

  4. With the advent of Open Banking, it would be great if when you submit the payroll, it could also utilise OB to physically make the payment to the employee also. This would help automate the whole payroll process.

  5. Approve employee leave requests directly from notification email.

    As a Leave Approver, I want to be approve or reject leave applications directly from the notification email so that I don't have to continually login.

  6. I want to be able to create a new leave policy but there is currently no functionality for this. The existing leave policies are limited and do not allow for leave to be loaded from a specific date, only the start anniversary or 1st Jan, or to be accrued gradually. I have some clients who set their leave from the first date of their financial year eg. 1st May each year. It would be useful to either have this leave policy loaded by Xero for provide the ability to create new leave policies.

  8. As an employee, I receive an email every time a leave request was approved.
    My boss receives an email every time a leave request is submitted and every time a timesheet is submitted.
    It would be great to disable these email notifications

  9. We need sick leave to be recorded in days to line up with current NZ payroll legislation. 10 days sick leave. The current settings in hours only work for people who work the same hours on the same days. Anyone with variable hours or different hours on different days this does not work and manual accrual needs to be kept outside of payroll. Then leave balances need to be manually adjusted which is a lot of work. This has been an issue for many many years and would be good to get fixed.

    Hey team, as some may have seen we've been doing lots of work in the NZ Payroll space. For those just getting started with Xero (from 5 August 2024) sick leave will now be recorded in days, and can set up the Sick leave entitlement date.

    We appreciate many in the idea here have been using Xero for a while and we want to confirm this is something we're working on for our existing customers as well, however there are more intricacies to work through from what already exists to the new. We'll round back to confirm with more detail and to let you know when this is being released for everyone. Thanks

  10. I want our employees to receive an automatic email when their leave balance is above a certain level, separate to their payslip. The email will be a prompt advising them of their leave balance and our company policy regarding taking leave. I'd anticipate the email workflow would be triggered once each payroll period, when it is completed, based on a conditional logic such as 'if balance is greater than X, this email is generated for Employee A'.

  11. It would be helpful to edit the layout of the Overview payroll dashboard, as you can do with the normal Xero accounting dashboard.

    I can't understand why the 'pay employees' widget is at the bottom, surely running payroll is the primary function so why isn't that at the top? Not all business use the leave and timesheet function, they should be considered secondary.

  12. At the moment Xero Payroll calculates OWE by using information from the pay template only. Xero Payroll also recommends use of minimum hours as best practice, and allowing the hourly rate to lift if the average is higher than minimum hours. Works well. However, many employees have minimum hours and work more hours regularly, but they don't always work the same number, they might have periods of more work, and other periods of less. This means they don't actually have Standard Hours, and according to the legislation, OWE should be calculated from a 4 week average, not just…

  13. Currently under employees leave tab you can assign default leave types, but you can't define what the default leave types are.
    Perhaps there is a simple checkbox for leave items in the payroll settings that allows you to choose.
    Currently I have 4 leave types set as default, when I only really need two.

    Hi everyone, I'm changing this idea to Delivered! 🥳

    Leave types can be defined as default when a value in the 'Normal Entitlement' field in Payroll settings is entered.

    To remove this leave type from being added each time a new employee is entered, you can:

    1. Click into Payroll, then select Payroll settings
    2. Click Pay Items tab, then Leave
    3. Click on a Leave Type that you'd like to remove as a Default Leave Type
    4. Remove the number of units the employee is entitled to each year under 'Normal Entitlement'
    5. Click Save
  14. At this stage Xero doesn't recognise if an Employee is on Unpaid Leave.

    Xero's default behaviour when an employee (that is assigned to a holiday group) submits a request for a period of Unpaid Leave spanning one or more public holidays, is to exclude those Public Holidays from the calculated Unpaid Leave hours.

    This has the effect of allocating those Public Holidays as paid hours in a pay-run rather than as unpaid hours. This is not consistent with the Fair Work Act (https://www.fairwork.gov.au/employment-conditions/public-holidays/not-working-on-public-holidays)

    If this is not picked up and adjusted before finalising a pay-run…

Notifications on xero to alert you that an employees age has increased due to a birthday, as they may have hit a new age bracket in the wage rates and they could be getting underpaid if not noticed. Example - employee goes from age 20 to 21 this would mean that if they are on the 18-20 year old wage rate and they are on the £7.49 once they turned 21 they should then be on £10.18. so notification of birthdays would help keep you aware of age changes.

    We've recently updated Xero Payroll(UK) and now a new NI category will automatically be applied to a pay run based on an employees birthdate, and if they are entering into a new NI category. Helping to save you time from manually tracking and updating yourself. 😊

  17. When running employee leave transaction reports, it would be good for this report to also include employee unpaid leave, as presently this option is not available. The only way to run an unpaid leave report is to run a leave request report, export and edit as required. We have to submit reports to the ADMS for our apprentice claims, and a report including all leave is required.

  18. UK Payroll - need a P32 report that can be printed/downloaded month by month in addition to the details provided for the whole year. Other payroll software's provide this as it's handy to have.

  19. Overtime needs to be recorded on Timesheets and be included in pay runs for employees on a fixed annual salary.

    We've been using Xero for 5+ years. It's brilliant in so many ways, and this basic functionality is missing, or rather, I expect is poorly coded.

    We have a number of employees on a fixed, 5 day per week, annual salary, which is divided by 12 to generate their pay every month. However, it's not uncommon for them to work overtime: additional hours here and there and sometimes whole extra days.

  20. We are after a report which shows the leave accrual rates for each individual employee in bulk report. I know we can view each individual employee by clicking on their leave balance and looking at the "Hours of leave accrued annually by a full-time employee. However for businesses with a large number of employees, this is very time consuming, therefore we would like a bulk report we can run to view all employees accrual rates in the one report.
