  1. If you pay a vendor too much and they send you a refund for the overpayment that is recorded as a Receive Money transaction, then the amount to be reported on the 1099 should be the net (amount paid less the refund received), but since Receive Money transactions don't populate on the 1099 report, the amount is incorrect.

    Hi team, as an update to my last post, we have now rolled out the Leave Requests report in UK Payroll. This report lists the details for leave requested, approved and taken, for all employees or can be run for a singular employee, and will help when planning rosters or work schedules. Payroll Admins will be able to find and access it through the Reports Centre found in the Accounting menu. We're aware that the Leave Requests report does not meet all of the requirements as outlined in the comments of this idea, and we have created a new idea for a Leave Transactions Report. We will track interest of this idea and keep an eye on this separately, so please do join and support if this is of interest to you.

  3. Can we please have the report codes shown & editable on the chart of accounts page, and also through the actual reports?

    Reasons for the request:
    1. It is a logical workflow to specify how an account is to be reported when setting it up
    2. It saves having to view the report, realise a report code needs correction and then having to close the report to do this, if you can drill down straight from the report as displayed.
    3. As the account balance is shown on the Chart of Accounts page, it makes it clearer…

    Hi team, we hear you and appreciate the feedback to our last update. I'm pleased to share that now along with the previous update of the ‘Report code’ column to the Chart of Accounts page, we have also just added a button to the main Chart of Accounts screen 'Edit Report Code Mappings' which takes Xero practice users directly to the report code mapping screen.

    Taking it that next step to make it easier for practice users to update report codes for new and amended accounts in the chart of accounts. Thanks for all your support in this.

  4. I hope that there's separate columns for date and employee name as seen in the previous report as it's totally useful when summarising data for various period. For instance, when generating the old report, it's completely quicker to use the pivot table and other excel formulas to calculate the total hours work and the corresponding cost in a certain period and prepare a comparative report for various pay item/period and employee using the old payroll activity detailed report. It's a single payroll report where all the relevant information is included.

    Hiya team, thank you for sharing your feedback and letting us know the detail and why this is valuable to you. Based on feedback we received on the Employee name and Date columns the team have just released an update to the Payroll Activity Detailed report to include Employee name and Date as separate columns in the report and these will now show by default.

    This will help as noted when exporting and using the data for further analysis outside of Xero. 

  5. Widen the display of the GST Audit report. When viewing the GST return I also check the GST audit report. When viewing the GST audit report I cannot see the date on the left side without scrolling to the bottom and using the scroll bar to move the report from side to side. It will not show all the columns at once.

    Hi everyone, our new New Zealand GST experience is now available to all users.

    As noted in my last update there is no longer a GST audit report. The transactions tab provides options to toggle different columns on or off. 

    The new experience also auto scales the page to fit information in one screen, so no more need to scroll. Thanks for all your feedback and contributing to the idea here.

  6. When you go into a customer and click View recent invoices report, currently it shows a list of all their previous invoices, which is clear and easy to read. When you click on the new report version it shows a list of approved sent and paid invoices for all customers, but only for the current month. This is totally useless as you then have to filter it to the customer, and change the date back far enough to show all the invoices. Can you please change this so it is the same as the old report.

  7. A detailed pay run journal report would be much more useful than the current summary version. It is especially unhelpful that selecting the entry in an expense account just takes you to the pay run - it doesn't show you what is coded to which expense account. With many employees this can take a long time to find errors or to manually journal multiple costings

    Last year, we rolled out support for the new journal reports 🎉 These can be filtered by account and account code or even the description.

    Our Customer Invoice Activity report can now be filtered to include only certain transactions types 🎉 To show just the invoices and payments, you can filter the Source by Receivable Invoices and Receivable Payments.

  10. Custom Reports: It would be great to be able to add a formula row in the custom reports that can display as a percentage. For example GP% and NP%
    Or just have the ability to add a GP% and NP% row.

    Is it possible to have a report added that includes columns for the Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) NI, LEL to the Primary Threshold (PT) and PT to UEL for NI?

    Hey all 😊 You can find a breakdown of NIC thresholds in the P11 report.

    This report shows the pay period YTD per employee as well a breakdown of the different NIC thresholds.

  12. It would be great to be able to export a report of all notes on employees contact. We use the notes section to record notes about attendance issues, conversations, warnings given.

    Hi Kylie, while there's not a specific employee notes report, you can run the Payroll History with a few filters to get what you need here.

    When you run the report you can either run it for all employees, or select the specific employees from the drop down. Set the Type to 'Employees' and Apply.

    Once run you can then enter 'Notes' in the search to further filter and only show employees notes added to their records in the set date range. If needed you'll also be able to export the report to Excel or PDF.

  13. In the new Tracking Summary Report (from 11 Nov 2025 the old report is no longer available) had removed the ability to run the report by specific account codes. Please bring this feature back as we use it to identify and track costs in the specific account codes. This also enable us to identify and correct any transactions that are missing a tracking code in each specific account code. We do not use this report by account type which is the only option in the new report.

    Hi Cecilia, thanks for sending in your feedback about the new Tracking Summary Report!

    Just to clarify, you can run the report for specific account types like Assets, Liabilities, Sales, and so on—similar to the Account Groups options in the old report.

    We’ve updated the idea status to Existing Functionality since the new Tracking Summary report works the same way as the old one, just with a few terms changed here and there.

    Hi Yash, thanks for submitting your idea for a YTD payroll report.

    Good news! You can currently achieve this in NZ Payroll using the following existing reports:

    • Pay History Report: Run this report for your desired date range (e.g., 1 April to today) to view a detailed breakdown of what has been paid to employees. It lists payments by date, allowing you to see salaries earned for each reporting period.
    • Gross Earnings Report: This report can be generated for a specific date range (YTD) to see total earnings per employee, or for a specific pay run to see the totals for that reporting period.

    I will close this idea as Existing functionality. If you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

  15. Would be great if we could run a report detailing which staff have taken leave (annual, personal) during the period to confirm it agrees to leave entered in Xero Me.

    Hi team, just returning to this idea, I've slightly amended the title and we'll move across to delivered.

    As mentioned in my last update, you can use the Leave requests report which will show the start and end dates, as well as units and dollar amount. It's also possible to run the report for all, or just specific employees for the period. 🙂

    Hey team, if you'd like to see a report that shows changes made to payroll such as salary changes, you can use the Payroll History report.

    It can be run for a specified date range and will show the date the changes were made, what the changes were, the employee affected and the user who made the changes.

  17. Not sure if this feature is already coming but would be great to be able to use a custom date range in the Business Snapshot reporting. We have clients who run on a 4-4-5 basis so would be great to be able to produce the report for their accounting period.

    Hi all

    To use custom date ranges, and get access to more advanced features, you can upgrade to Xero Analytics Plus. 

    You can do this either by upgrading your subscription to the Ultimate plan, or by selecting it as an add-on.

  18. Report Codes ability to edit from Chart of Accounts, not separate area. I see that you have marked previous suggestions as completed, because you've added a button. It isn't a button we are seeking, it is the ability to edit directly within COA, rather than having to go elsewhere. The elsewhere is still a useful tool to help identify when clients have added their own codes, but from a click minimisation perspective why not have COA and Report Codes integrated, and provide us with a field to add our nominated report code.

After reviewing this with our product team, we're updating the status to 'Not in pipeline', which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap.     Hi everyone, while this idea was shifted to delivered sometime ago, we wanted to come back to share updates.

    Recently, we released an update to the Trial Balance report for US organisations. Understanding the needs of our customers in this region we know being able to set a date range in the Trial Balance report was still highly important and this is now possible in Xero.

    Right now, this change is only available to users on the US version of Xero. Our product teams are monitoring usage of this feature and will consider expansion to other regions longer term.

    In the meantime, for organisations outside the US the previous options of the General Ledger Summary and Detail reports are the best method for getting what you need here. Thanks 

  20. On the "Tax and reporting" box on the Dashboard, could we please be able to link to the Journal Report from here as well?
