  1. Can we please have the report codes shown & editable on the chart of accounts page, and also through the actual reports?

    Reasons for the request:
    1. It is a logical workflow to specify how an account is to be reported when setting it up
    2. It saves having to view the report, realise a report code needs correction and then having to close the report to do this, if you can drill down straight from the report as displayed.
    3. As the account balance is shown on the Chart of Accounts page, it makes it clearer which accounts…

    Hi team, we hear you and appreciate the feedback to our last update. I'm pleased to share that now along with the previous update of the ‘Report code’ column to the Chart of Accounts page, we have also just added a button to the main Chart of Accounts screen 'Edit Report Code Mappings' which takes Xero practice users directly to the report code mapping screen.

    Taking it that next step to make it easier for practice users to update report codes for new and amended accounts in the chart of accounts. Thanks for all your support in this.

  2. Currently: In new invoicing we are provided with suggested items when completing fields such as "To:".
    Using Enter at this points selects that highlighted suggestion, but using Tab ignores the highlighted item.

    Request: Enable Tab to be used in new invoicing to confirm a highlighted selection. The same function as Enter currently provides within this context.
    Tab is an active keyboard option in other areas of Xero such as Bank Reconciliations so this would keep the UI more consistent.

    Hi team, we recently made a change to the tabbing behaviour, so now when you tab to a field and highlight an option, tabbing to the next field will hold the selection that was highlighted.

    For example pressing Tab in the 'To' field will hold the highlighted contact, and move you onto the 'Issue date' field.

  3. New Invoicing problem - we are copying new invoices from the existing purchase orders and prices on the new invoices are showing as a cost price instead of the sales prices! :(((. A massive issue! Also, the new invoicing look is not user friendly with a lot of space on the screen. We were very happy with the current invoicing when everything was working perfectly, and the new invoicing does not work for us at all. Dear Xero developers, please do not fix what is not broken and leave the current invoicing as it is.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate your feedback on this and I'd like to confirm that our team have implemented a change. Now, when you copy a purchase order to a draft invoice, where it includes items from your Products and services Xero will use the Sale price and account saved for that item when creating the invoice.

    Hiya Simona, sorry for not updating you on this sooner.

    Shortly after the release of the new report our team made a change based on feedback, so the report now shows Employee name and Date as separate columns, and the columns will be included when running the report by default.

  5. 24 HOUR LOCK WHEN CERTIFICATION TEST "FAILS" NEEDS REMOVED IMMEDIATELY.

    We have a trainee going through his Xero certification. He timed out the first test. He is now locked out for 24 hours.

    We can't have him spending weeks doing this.

  6. New Invoicing - Show selected From Email

    The old invoicing would show which Email address would be used as the from email when emailing an invoice to a client. This is an important double check to be sure I'm using the correct email address for the particular client. Since this has been removed I now have to remember to check the Email settings in a different tab before sending every invoice, which is very time consuming and is the primary reason I switch back to Classic every time I try the frustrating "New Invoicing" system after suffering through its hard…

    Hi team, coming back around the idea here I wanted to share that with the new invoicing send window, you'll be able to see the reply to when sending an invoice from the right side preview.

    Appreciate there may be some in the discussion here that would also like the ability to change this when sending which isn't currently in our plans however please do vote on this idea if that's something you'd like to see. 🙂

    Hi Rolf, I wanted to share an update as running back across your idea here there is a bit of logic at play that determines the way a date is shown on reports in Xero.

    Abbreviations for reports are determined by an organisation's region and align with modern accepted format. This means while some organisations in Xero may show a date as 'Sep' another may show as 'Sept'.

    An example of this is for AU, NZ and UK organisations the accepted format is to show September as 'Sept' when abbreviated.

    We appreciate some customers may want this to appear differently but want to be open that we intend to continue alignment with accepted formatting. Thanks

  8. In the "New Repeating Invoice" section, Sub section "Repeat This Transaction Every" only has weekly or Monthly. A lot of employees get paid Fortnightly (Two weeks) and would be a great addition to add the "Fortnightly" option. Also adding the "Fortnightly" option in the Reference, Place Holder area. Please see the attached image as these area are highlighted.

  9. I would like to request the return of the nice simple professional looking GST Returns and Printouts as the new layout is unsuitable to be sent to Clients and printing out the GST Returns and details now appears spread over more pages.

    Thanks for your feedback here, everyone. We appreciate hearing what our customers need, and listening to feedback our team have made a change to the layout of the GST Transactions by tax rate view, so this is now similar to the previous report in a portrait layout 😊

  10. Add the ability to Xero / Xero Me for multiple time sheet entries per day.
    For staff who work across multiple sites having the ability to add multiple time entries per day and either select a client to associate those entries against, or add a note for each time sheet entry would be fantastic.
    Ultimately you would allow up to 6 time entries per day.

    Example

    Monday
    Time Entry1= 8:00 - 11:30am (note= site 1)
    Time Entry2= 12:00 - 3:30pm (note= site 2)
    Time Entry3= 3:30pm - 5:00pm (note = site 3)

    Doing this would improve the functionality and uptake…

  12. Please can we have the product enhancement for the LOCKED DATES, whereby the Advisor role can LOCK THE DATES to stop other employees/departments posting entries, but the Advisor can OVERIDE the lock dates to post month end/year end journals.
    This is critical !!

    Hi there

    There are two Lock Date settings in the Financial Settings screen; one for all users except advisers, and one for all users.

    To do this, you could leave the 'all users' date blank, and set a relevant lock date for 'all users except advisers'.

    This would allow Adviser users to bypass the Lock Date, while still leaving this restriction in place for other users.

    Alternatively, you might leave the 'all users' setting in place to prevent Advisers unknowingly making an change prior to the Lock Date.

    If the Adviser does need to override this, they could temporarily delete this date, or move it forwards.

  13. Allocate specific tracking categories to transactions instead of showing every category when a transaction is created.

    Currently all tracking categories show when creating a new spend/receive money. In our business one of these categories is used for timesheets only. I would like the option to be able to choose which tracking categories display when creating new spend/receive money transactions in Xero, in the same way that I am able to do this for payroll and on invoicing.

  14. Allow change to email format so that the VERY LARGE $X,*** 'Review and pay' button can be removed - as it can in the Classic invoicing. I have a large client who has stated they will leave Xero, rather than send emails in this format. They find it too aggressive.

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. Right now it is possible to hide the 'Review and Pay' buttons completely from the Email Settings in the Organisation  settings. From here you can disable the 'Include quick link to online invoice and detail summary' setting to hide the payment buttons entirely.

    Just to note, this does strip back the email formatting so you might like to send yourself a copy to see what this then looks like once the option has been disabled. Thanks

We use two tracking category's depending on which country the transaction relates to, the category options are the projects in that country, if a tracking option has been added to the wrong category on an invoice and you need to remove it you can't leave the category blank, on the old invoices and other areas of Xero you have (none) under the category options which you can choose if it is to be blank but this option is not there on the new invoicing

    Hey everyone, thanks again for suggesting this. Good news – the new line item grid is live for everyone now.

    With this update, getting rid of tracking is way easier. You can just hit backspace and tab through the fields, or we've also popped in a 'No tracking' option in the dropdown. We appreciate your feedback through product ideas – it really helps!

  16. When purchasing a subscription, there should be a 24 hour cancellation period. On many occasions I have purchased subscriptions that were not correct or not necessary. I upgraded a few of my clients to the Early Plan from the Partner Plan as we needed Hubdoc. Then we found out that Cash Coding was not included and was not stated in the plan description. At that point, I was stuck waiting for 30 days before I could correct it.

Do understand it's a bit difficult after the fact, however we recommend looking up and comparing the different bundles for subscriptions on our website before purchasing. If you have any questions our specialists are readily available through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of most pages through out Xero Central.

  17. Xero has a gap in handling Fx gains/losses.
    It is great at both Realised and Unrealised on bills and invoices but it drops the ball on Cash at Bank. It treats it all as Unrealised, which is where the flaw is.

    You can have an empty currency bank account which has a residual functional currency balance and has movements on the TB every month due to revaluation. This is clearly nonsense.
    I have also been told to ignore the exposure column on the Fx report as it is meaningless.

    For Fx gains/losses Cash is a document in exactly the same…

  18. It seems to calculate values (unrealised gains) for international transactions we need exchange rates.

    However after retrieving the rates from XE.com, as well as another provider, we are unable to pull the exact FX values used by Xero, which means we cannot recreate the value from Xero reports. This interferes with our ability to automatically reconcile and may cause confusion for accountants if they cross check.

    Xero support advised us that they pull live FX rates at 11pm of the timezone of the organisation, however in general it is not possible to pull these live rates historically from XE.com.

    Hi Brendan, appreciate the detail provided along with your idea here. We have a separate community forum where you can log ideas related to improvements for Xero's API. While they have a few ideas around exchange rates what you've raised doesn't appear to have been requested yet.

    Hi team we appreciate support in this idea, however as previously shared we don't have any current plans for extending files to accommodate what's being asked here. 

    We're continuing to keep a watch on the support for this, and recommend exploring the Xero app store if this is something you need right now.

  20. It is ridiculous that you are forced to set a calendar reminder to come back and downgrade a Xero Subscription in a month's time.
    A client may need to increase their subscription purely to account for the crossover period of one staff member leaving and a new one starting and whilst we have no issue paying the additional for the one extra employee, to make it impossible to downgrade for a month after that upgrade is a pathetic cash grab by Xero.
    Make it possible to downgrade the file immediately and have it take effect from the future date.
