New Repeating Invoice - Include option for "Fortnightly" Transactions
In the "New Repeating Invoice" section, Sub section "Repeat This Transaction Every" only has weekly or Monthly. A lot of employees get paid Fortnightly (Two weeks) and would be a great addition to add the "Fortnightly" option. Also adding the "Fortnightly" option in the Reference, Place Holder area. Please see the attached image as these area are highlighted.
5 votesHi team, this is already possible with the options in the repeat template. You'll want to enter the number '2' and select 'week(s)'. 🙂

Xero Network - Include PDF of Invoice when sent with Xero Network Key
Automatically include PDF of invoice when sending it via Xero Network Key.
Purpose: Some clients need to see the attachment of the invoice. It’s also good for audit purposes.
85 votesHi team, pleased to share that with the release of Xero to Xero in invoicing we've also provided the ability to include attachments with your invoice when sending, as well as the option to include a PDF copy of the invoice. See more detail on Xero Central.
Currently this is live to all regions excepting Singapore which we're just doing a little more work to enable. I'll be back to share when Singapore users can also make use of this feature in Xero.

New Invoice - Cursor Default Position
In the old Invoicing, when creating a new invoice the cursor would default to contact field so as soon as the screen opened you could start typing to bring up the contact. With the new Invoicing you have to click on the screen in the desired field to be able to type anything.
Please fix this, it is extremely frustrating.
21 votesWe're grateful to everyone who participated in the discussion and provided valuable feedback regarding the cursor positioning. I'm pleased to announce that we have released a change, and upon opening your next invoice, the cursor will now default to the Contact field. Thanks again for your contributions.

Invoice - Auto create a credit note for negative amounts
Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.
9 votesHi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

Difference of Invoice template between Preview and PDF format
I have discovered that the invoices as they appear in the Preview button of an invoice only gives a preview of how the online invoice will display. This is therefore different from the PDF version of the invoice when it is downloaded as a PDF or sent to my clients. The PDF version looks a lot messier and looks far less professional. It was informed that, it is currently not possible to make the PDF version appear like the Preview version, or vice versa. I would like to know if anyone else has some ideas of how to align…
20 votesHi everyone, recently we made a change to the Preview option in new invoicing. Now, when you select to 'Preview' in new invoicing this'll open a new browser tab with a view of the PDF of the invoice. This means you can also see how your invoice will look to the customer with a docx / advanced branding theme applied.
Our team are also doing more to look into how preview works and how your invoices look. We'll update again if there's more development to share.

Profit & Loss - Show Invoice Numbers
Currently there is no functionality in Xero to populate the invoice number in the Profit and Loss report while the reference field is filled out. Would like to have the invoice number to be shown as well for easy reference and checking.
3 votesHi team, as noted in my last update you can click on the figure in the Profit & Loss which drills down to the Account Transactions report.
You'll find that you can adjust the report settings to add 'Invoice Number' as a column so you can see both pieces of information on the report.

Sales Invoice - Ability to enter all contact details from an invoice
You can now create a contact from an invoice. Great, this was overdue.
Why stop at only allowing some of the details though? Weird.
Now I have to go back into the contact and edit it to add Company name etc.
It's just creating more work when I could have done everything from the one spot.
Please fix!6 votesSorry for not updating you here sooner, team. We've been making a lot of changes within new invoicing. One of these being enabling you to enter more contact details from the new invoicing screen, without having to navigate away.
You'll find you can now enter the contact name, email, billing address, delivery address, and phone all from the contact card within a new invoice. These details will be reflected without the need to refresh the screen 🙂

Bills - Previous/next button to go straight to the next bill/invoice
being able to use a next/previous button to toggle through bills and invoices without using the main bill or invoice to find the next document. Be able to amend bill/invoices without missing any.
14 votesGood news team, quick view is out and this is now available to everyone. As you'll see from the bills list view there is now an eye icon that shows a right side preview of your bill when clicked. To simply move from one bill to the next use the arrows above your bill view. This makes it even simpler to take bulk action on multiple bills at once without having to open and review each individually.
Thanks for your feedback and sharing with us here on how we can improve Xero for you. 🎉

New invoicing - View Item Code and Tracking columns on saved invoice
Unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to see the Item Code or Tracking Code fields on a saved invoice? They are there in Edit mode, but not when viewing a saved invoice? We don't need to include these columns on the invoice sent to clients, but do need to be able to see them for internal use without having to go into edit mode. Until we can do this, we won't be able to switch to the new invoicing.
5 votesHi team, apologies we haven't updated this idea sooner. Our product team made a change to the approved grid view a fem months ago, where now you'll see Item code and Tracking as separate columns once the invoice is approved to make it easier to review your information. We appreciate your feedback here and sharing through product ideas.

Remove VAT line from Invoice email template
I want to hide the VAT line from below the subtotal on the 'Invoice email' template. I can hide it on the 'Invoice PDF' but not on the 'Invoice Email'. I'm not VAT registered so it currently says VAT 0%. But thus may look confusing to my customers. I would rather it was either hidden or removed.
3 votesHi Sam, sorry we've not updated you here sooner. This is possible through your email settings. If you open the Email template that you apply to invoices you'll find a check box for 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. You'll want to deselect this option to remove that detail from showing in your invoice emails. Just a note it does strip back a bit of the formatting of the email but will help you achieve what you're after here.

Files library - Add a Sales invoice directly from the file library and attach the file
Please reinstate the ability to create a sales invoice directly from the file library and have the file attached. This function was bafflingly removed in 'new' invoicing for sales yet the ability to create all the other types of transactions directly from file library was retained. This is a critical function when dealing with multiple BCIs (buyer created invoices) every month. Often the BCI file name does not include the customer name so requires opening the file in file library as well as creating the new sales invoice since files cannot be attached & viewed within the sales invoice…
11 votesHi Martin
Something sounds off here, as the 'Add to new' function is intended to add the file(s) to the chosen transaction.
If anything like this isn't working as you'd expect it to, it's best looked into with a closer lens. Please raise a case with our Xero Support team on Xero Central and our specialists can investigate with you 1-1, and escalate to the Product team if it needs fixing. Thanks!

Sales Invoice - Add Primary person and email when adding new contact
When generating a sales invoice for new contact to have the ability to add the primary contact name and email so that email can be emailed to primary contact name without editing the contact first.
11 votesHi community, sorry we've not looped into this idea sooner. You'll now find with new invoicing that you can add a new contact and their details, or edit a contacts details without having to leave the page.
When you add a new contact, this'll open the modal for the Contact card and from here you can add the Contact name, Email, Billing and Delivery addresses, and or phone number.

Draft invoice save prompt
Add a prompt to save a draft of an invoice when leaving the invoice screen to add or change a contact or address or check something.
1 voteAah perfect sound like new invoicing is the solution for you here then, Kevin. As mentioned from a draft invoice as soon as you add a contact Xero will begin autosaving any data you enter.

Invoice template defaults per Customer
It would be great to have an invoice template default set up per Customer in their Contact settings.
2 votesHey Kyle 👋 this is already possible. You should see the option when editing a contact under the Sales defaults 😊

Bills - Create a recurring supplier invoice from a previously entered invoice
Add another option on the SAVE button for Supplier Invoice entry (and Sales I guess but we don't use XERO for our Sales) to enable a previously entered invoice to be copied from and then SAVED as a RECURRING INVOICE. There have been many times I would love to have had this option.
1 voteJust for anyone else coming across the idea here - You can use 'Repeat' from the Bill options in the top right of the Bill to create a new repeating bill template😊

alert when reconciling a open invoice
When I'm reconciling open transactions. Id love a notification if the invoice is still open before I accept the transaction. Some times we don't post payments because the invoice is still open and customers are adding to the invoice before we close it and ship it out. The issue that not knowing if the invoice is open or not. Then I accidently close the invoice and dont know that we owe a customer something. Lots of our customers make deposits before the work is done and still add to the invoice before its completed. Which is why we keep the …
1 voteHey Margaret, thank you for raising this Idea with us. This is a very specific request and we would generally point our customer in the direction of a third party that could manage the invoices in a more business specific way. There is currently no way for Xero to 'know' if a customer might be adding to an invoice, so this comes under what we would call a processes request. Your option would be (instead of reconciling the payment to an invoice) to reconcile and create credit notes that can be applied to the customer invoice at a later date. Also when you are reconciling payments, if an invoice is paid or closed it will not be available to reconcile too. It might be best of you raise a case with Xero Support to clarify this further🌟.

New Invoicing - Keep the previous Contact when using Copy
Please change the new invoicing so when we copy the invoice, the previous contact automatically appears as default
We should not be choosing the customer each time we copy an invoice
382 votesHi everyone, we've introduced a change to new invoicing so you now have the ability to copy an invoice to a draft invoice and keep the existing contact. 🙂
When you select this option, you'll see a pop up where the current contact is selected by default, however you can choose another contact or leave this blank if you'd prefer.
Thank you for all your support and sharing back on the idea for this feature, here.

New Invoicing - Receive payment for an invoice before sending it
Immediately after creating an invoice, you approve it, then a series of boxes appears at the bottom of the screen allowing you to receive the payment. Once payment is applied you can send the receipt to the customer. This is ESSENTIAL for accepting cash payments or any payment made at the time of delivery but before sending the invoice. Please add this feature from OLD invoicing to New invoicing.
3 votesHi Fiona, it's not necessary to send an invoice before adding a payment. Once an invoice is created in new invoicing the default option is 'approve and send' but 'approve' can be selected instead. A payment can then be added and receipt sent, with a similar workflow to classic invoicing.
Atm there's no way to set the default approve option for an invoice. However, this has been raised as an idea across here if you'd like to add your vote. 🙂

Invoice Branding - Remove Itemised detail
We use a a CRM system to create our invoice which is then linked to XERO. On our CRM system it itemised the components of the invoice this is also transferred. Is there a way on the xero invoice that this feature is not transferred so that the invoice only shows description and the total value of the job, ie NET, VAT GROSS.
We do not want the client to see the full breakdown. We send statements to our clients which has a link to the invoice due to the issues of the itemised invoice our clients can see this…
1 voteHi Dawn, this is possible with the use of an advanced branding theme. Using the DocX template you can customise the template to remove merge fields that you don't want to be shown to your customer.
Once set up as you like you'll want to upload the template to your branding theme in Xero, and then apply to contacts or to any individual invoices you'd like this template used.

Invoices: Ability to add or minus a bulk amount on an invoice
The ability to add or minus a bulk amount on a invoice(not just a discount)
PercentageWould be great so can add fuel levy in or minus a amount off the total of invoice
That you need ect.3 votesHi all, as previously shared this is possible by adding a new line to your invoice. You can add both positive or negative lines to the invoice to change the total amount.
Alternatively rather than a line in itself you could use new invoicing to discount each line by a total amount.
