  1. Sales Overview Improvement Request: Add "Send Date"

    To enhance our efficiency and reduce time spent looking up invoice details, it would be beneficial to add the "Send Date" to the Sales Overview page.

    Reason for the Request:

    Clients sometimes claim they have not received an invoice and ask when it was sent. Currently, to answer this, we must navigate into each individual invoice and check the history, which is time-consuming.

  2. I frequently create draft invoices to keep track of work to be billed. When I send the invoice (at the completion of a production stage for example), XERO keeps the date of the first draft invoice, which can be weeks or even months old. I have a setting of 7 days as due date. Clients then receive an invoice with a long gone due date, which is extremely confusing, if I forget to update the issue date to today.   3. in Recurring invoices, placeholders are essential to accurate and meaningful descriptions. Placeholders seem to currently only offer Week, Month & Year but not ‘Day’ or [DATE] or [TODAY]. (with the usual +/- feature). This would be hugely helpful for recurring daily or weekly invoices or for communicating a relevant billing period on a Monthly invoice (that differs from calendar months or calendar weeks) without having to manually update the date in description of every Repeated invoice.   5. Ability to trigger notification when expense claims are awaiting approval and approved status.

  6. Recently found out that draft invoices are assigned a number once created, even if they are eventually not approved and deleted.
    For accounting reasons in Spain, the numbering on all invoices presented has to be consecutive and the fact that draft invoices are assigned a number from the same sequence causes a problem. So basically if a draft invoice ends up being deleted, then when presenting the invoice list to the tax authorities, there is a number missing, which could cause a problem.

  8. Can we please have the ability to set a due date for an expense? Currently it is set as the day it is approved, but we pay all our expenses for the whole month, on the 15th of the following month. It would be good to be able to set this as default for any expenses raised.

    Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of interest which has all been shared with and reviewed by the product team.

    While this isn't currently being worked on there are other ideas this team are working on right now, including a bulk void feature and highlighting rows when selected. Although these features are still under development process and we don't have confirmed release dates yet.

    With regards to having a separate field for the posting date and invoice date, our team is interested in better understanding this idea as it may be something they look to develop down the track. They really appreciate and encourage you to continue to share your experiences, pain points and insights. This will help them understand how this feature can benefit you and other customers, as well as gauge demand for it.

    Purpose: Validity when being queried by customers about a transaction, verifying payments and collecting debtor payments. Proof of interaction.

  13. Generally working in Xero is very efficient. However, when paying approved expense claims (and recording the payment) I have to constantly switch between keyboard to type in the payment amount (which is displayed in a cell above) and the mouse to select the payment date and payment account. I can't imagine a scenario when the amount paid is not the amount approved. Why is this cell not pre-populated with the approved amount? If it was it would halve the time it would take me to register payments against expense claims.

Can the New Invoicing Template have a the original way to change the date instead of opening the date dropdown to then have to open the "Pick another Date" option if it's not today or yesterday.. If it was today it would already have that day selected, so why is it an option? just added extra steps to select the correct date..

    Hi team, the improvements to the date selector are now live to everyone! Thank you again, for all your feedback.

    Along with this change, we also recently released an update to date entry shortcuts so you can now enter the same shortcuts that you had with classic invoicing such as +0 or 't' for today's date.

    With copy and paste you'll find you can copy and paste dates however these will currently need to contain a '/' or '-' between the day-month-year to appear correctly.

    We appreciate there are other options when selecting dates that our customers would like to see and there are other ideas that you may also like to vote and join for updates.

    Hi everyone, as much as we appreciate the feedback and interest of being able to receive a notification of whether an invoice has successfully sent. The team priority right now is around the body of the invoice within Xero. 

    We want to be transparent in this here and will move the status of the idea back to submitted.

  16. For invoices/receipts that are created by a custom branding theme, change the 'issue date' to 'invoice issue date', and create a separate field for 'payment date'.

    This is so that when an invoice is sent in 2021, and payment is made in 2022, the receipt that is automatically generated will clearly show both dates, instead of just the issue date which implies that the receipt was issued in year 2021 when it was actually issued in year 2022.

  18. It would be nice to have an option in the invoices settings to have approved invoices automatically marked as sent.
    This would be mainly for users that send their invoices with another program, so the invoices they enter in Xero are always sent.

  19. Turnover per XERO and VAT declared Net Sales should be ideally Equal ,however often may not match and therefore need reconciling-which is important to understand the difference from both the YE accounts and HMRC point of view .

    There should be a report in XERO which can facilitate this reconciliation rather than use spreadsheets -which is time consuming when the information is already existing in XERO

    One of difference arising is -"The Date" invoice created and approved -are different and will report in different periods of the VAT return and Xero Sales Nominal Account
