  1. In new invoicing, please revert the ability to edit the postal address 'attention' box, back to the same as classic invoicing. Property managers want the owner's name included in the invoice address, so for each invoice I produce, I need to change the person's name in the 'attention' box. Previously this could be done by clicking on 'edit address' within the invoice, but in new invoicing, I need to edit the address by going into 'contacts', 'edit ', 'addresses', 'edit address', 'update address', 'save'. Once this is done, the ability to email the new invoice disappears, and I…

Hi everyone, thanks for continuing to tune into updates of the idea here. Taking feedback on board on information that's most helpful to our customers we've released improvements to the ‘Contact’ field within new invoicing.

We heard being able to edit and add the 'Attention to' for a contacts address was important, and we've now added this capability into the contact card so you can edit this in the billing or delivery address detail, on the fly.

Along with this; there's now a look up tool so you can easily search and select a contact's addresses, and we’ve added more lines to enter a contacts address if needed. We appreciate your engagement and letting us know what matters to you through product ideas.

  2. Please keep the current feature of adding item codes to billable expenses so that the preset charge out rate and account pulls through. In the new system adding an item code wipes out the billable expense.

Hi community, thanks for sharing back with us on the flow through of information for Billable expenses.

Our product team have implemented a change, and you should now find that when you add a billable expense related to an inventory item, and select to add the items to your invoice the item code will be shown.

If you're finding this is not the case for you it would be best for our Xero Support specialists to take a closer look at things with you 1-1 - you can touch base with them through Xero Central.

  3. In the new Tracking Summary Report (from 11 Nov 2025 the old report is no longer available) had removed the ability to run the report by specific account codes. Please bring this feature back as we use it to identify and track costs in the specific account codes. This also enable us to identify and correct any transactions that are missing a tracking code in each specific account code. We do not use this report by account type which is the only option in the new report.

Hi Cecilia, thanks for sending in your feedback about the new Tracking Summary Report!

Just to clarify, you can run the report for specific account types like Assets, Liabilities, Sales, and so on—similar to the Account Groups options in the old report.

We’ve updated the idea status to Existing Functionality since the new Tracking Summary report works the same way as the old one, just with a few terms changed here and there.

If we have misunderstood you, please get back in touch.

  4. When sending an invoice to a new customer using the new invoicing you can only add one address line before the Town/City field. With the old invoicing you could add multiple address lines before the Town/City field (as you can also do with their Contact page and clicking edit).
With new invoicing this is difficult. Every time you need to add an address to a new invoice going to a new contact within the invoice screen then you only have one address line above the town/city field.
To add more address lines above the town/city field you need to amend…

Hi team, we’ve made and released some recent enhancements to the ‘Contact’ field and contact card within new invoicing.

Hearing your feedback here, we added more address lines to the contact card within new invoicing so you can add your full customer’s delivery or billing address on the fly. You’ll also see you can quickly look up and select addresses for your contact, as well as edit or add the Attention to without needing to go to the contact record. Thanks for your interest with us here.

  5. Re: Handling of Mutly-currency/translating foreign currency amounts into the functional currency

Multy currency is currently not fully supported in xero.

A foreign currency transaction should be recorded initially at the rate of exchange at the date of the transaction and then, at each subsequent balance sheet date, foreign currency monetary amounts should be reported using the closing rate.

This is true in xero only for Bank accounts, accounts receivables and payables set in foreign currency but not for other account.
As a result users are required to input periodical manual adjustments at each balance sheet date.

  6. In the Contact card, under the Contact Details tab, it would be helpful to have all contact information linked to the relevant staff member. For example, being able to associate a person's name with their job title, mobile number (or direct dial), and email address.

Currently, the email field links to a person's name, but the phone number field does not offer the same functionality - there’s no option to associate a name with the phone number. This can be limiting, especially when the staff member is a project manager or someone who primarily uses a mobile or direct line.

We'll need some more detail for your post to be considered as an idea here, Val. It will be helpful to know which platform you are working on (Xero Blue, XHQ, or XPM). This will help others in community know what they're voting for, and ensure we can get your idea to the right people in product for consideration. If you'd like to update your idea, you can reply to this update and we'll re-review - See more details on the qualities of a good idea on Xero Central.

  7. Can the new invoicing template show address like the classic invoicing template does?
Classic invoicing - Shows company address and the person it is addressed to (Attention:) when viewing the invoicing from our end
New Invoice - Only shows the company name and to check if the address is correct and if the person it is addressed to is correct you have to click on Edit or download it as a pdf to verify it.
    Example Snapshots attached.

Hi team, with our latest updates to new invoicing you're now able to see your contacts address if they have one saved when viewing the invoice.

Appreciate the question around being able to edit the address and to confirm - you'll find in view mode you can click on the contact to view the contact card. If you'd like to edit the address click the small link in the top right of the contact card. This'll pop the contact open in a separate browser tab where you can edit and add a billing and/or delivery address. 🙂

  8. Why are we limited to backdating GST Returns in Blue Xero just 12 months.

It's crazy to limit the backdating of GST Returns to 12 months for Advisors. In an ideal world our clients are well behaved and we only need to deal with recent GST Returns. But we often get situations where we need to backdate GST Returns beyond 12 months: ie A client comes to us who has been trading for 2 or more years and not filed any Tax or GST returns - how do we deal with that? Or if we are doing a migration from…

Hi everyone, with Xero's new GST returns can now be created back in time with no limit.

The one thing to note here is that returns do need to finalised and filed in order of the period of the return.

  9. Xero has a gap in handling Fx gains/losses.
It is great at both Realised and Unrealised on bills and invoices but it drops the ball on Cash at Bank. It treats it all as Unrealised, which is where the flaw is.

You can have an empty currency bank account which has a residual functional currency balance and has movements on the TB every month due to revaluation. This is clearly nonsense.
I have also been told to ignore the exposure column on the Fx report as it is meaningless.

For Fx gains/losses Cash is a document in exactly the same…

  10. New Invoicing: In the classic invoicing, I can click in the discount area and the discount set in a customer's profile is automatically entered. I don't want to have to go in and look up each customer's discount every time I create an invoice. In the new invoicing, when I click in there it just waits for me to type something in.

Hi team, from new invoicing once you add a contact any sales defaults you have saved will be applied. Simply enter a Qty or Price and the discount saved for that contact will be applied.

If you're not seeing the discount column on your invoice, click the show/hide fields on the left above the invoice body and make sure this has been selected.

Appreciate letting us know how we could improve your flow when working from the Xero Accounting app, Joshua. Our team have just released a change for iOS to align with the Android behaviour.

Now, when you send an invoice or a quote, the 'Send me a copy' field will be unchecked by default.🙂

  12. This is a basic need. In the past, it was possible to set VAT country as NONE to add the tax number, now in the new UI is not possible, since the UI requires selecting a country. Please fix that as soon as possible, since we need to add the tax number on the invoice to non-EU countries!!!

    Hi everyone 😊

This has now been changed so that you can edit the Financial Details for a contact, and set VAT to None, then enter a tax number for them.

There's more detail on this here: Edit a contact

  13. I think we should be able to create with a loan schedule with interest rates, term and amortization instead of having to manually enter the transaction.

Hi community, sorry we've not looped into this idea sooner. You'll now find with new invoicing that you can add a new contact and their details, or edit a contacts details without having to leave the page.

When you add a new contact, this'll open the modal for the Contact card and from here you can add the Contact name, Email, Billing and Delivery addresses, and or phone number.

  15. Exchange Rate - Allow more than 6 decimal places.

For conversions from smaller currencies (e.g. 1 KRW = 0.00071 USD), users need the ability to place more than 6 decimal places in order to get the exact currency conversion for the transaction. QuickBooks allows this so I don't see why Xero can't implement it as well.

Xero Central suggested that I make adjustment entries in my Realised Currency Gains account and I find it ridiculous to have to do it than just being allowed to input exact numbers in my original transactions.

  16. The “Favourite” feature in the Reporting section is excellent, please consider expanding this to other dropdowns or sections across the platform.

This could help address the long-standing need for sub-menu shortcuts or easier navigation, especially for commonly used tools like Repeating Invoices or the Chart of Accounts.

Note: historically, I’ve used browser bookmarks as a workaround for this. However, recent updates seem to have made these bookmarks unreliable, some now fail to link correctly, and this issue appears to be getting worse. I fear with this update It may no longer be viable to rely on bookmarks as quick…

Hi community, thanks for your feedback here! Chart of accounts page is now available within the Accounting menu 😊

In terms of bookmarks you may have saved, there's a chance with the change some bookmarks may have stopped working - In this scenario you should be able to bookmark the page again and it'll work in the new experience.

  17. Despite some condensing of information and improvements to the appearance of new invoicing, it continues to display information with less clarity and efficiency than before. This is only one example but on classic invoicing, entering a tracking category that was too large for the field would cause the vertical height of that row to increase. Now new invoicing simply cuts off the field after a certain character limit.

This system is not ready for default deployment and you have no idea how bad the support storm is going to be on the 2nd of September. Please push back the default

Hi everyone, our new line item grid has been released, and you'll find with this update along with other changes, that all fields now wrap. So if you have an account, tax rate or code that is a little longer you'll be able to see the full name of this when invoicing. We appreciate all your feedback on improving new invoicing to suit your needs here. Thanks

  18. Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.

Hi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

  19. Please reinstate the ability to create a sales invoice directly from the file library and have the file attached. This function was bafflingly removed in 'new' invoicing for sales yet the ability to create all the other types of transactions directly from file library was retained. This is a critical function when dealing with multiple BCIs (buyer created invoices) every month. Often the BCI file name does not include the customer name so requires opening the file in file library as well as creating the new sales invoice since files cannot be attached & viewed within the sales invoice until…

    Hi Martin

Something sounds off here, as the 'Add to new' function is intended to add the file(s) to the chosen transaction.

If anything like this isn't working as you'd expect it to, it's best looked into with a closer lens. Please raise a case with our Xero Support team on Xero Central and our specialists can investigate with you 1-1, and escalate to the Product team if it needs fixing. Thanks!

  20. When you invoice a new customer you get the option of "Add address" which is great to quick add their email address and postal address. Can this also include adding the phone number? Currently the only way to add the phone number is to go into contacts and add it that way but to me it is a much more important detail than postal address. If I need to chase up anything to do with the invoice i don't send the customer a letter, i call them so i do need to input their phone number and just want a…
