New invoicing | View contact address
Can the new invoicing template show address like the classic invoicing template does?
Classic invoicing - Shows company address and the person it is addressed to (Attention:) when viewing the invoicing from our end
New Invoice - Only shows the company name and to check if the address is correct and if the person it is addressed to is correct you have to click on Edit or download it as a pdf to verify it.
Example Snapshots attached.54 votesHi team, with our latest updates to new invoicing you're now able to see your contacts address if they have one saved when viewing the invoice.
Appreciate the question around being able to edit the address and to confirm - you'll find in view mode you can click on the contact to view the contact card. If you'd like to edit the address click the small link in the top right of the contact card. This'll pop the contact open in a separate browser tab where you can edit and add a billing and/or delivery address. 🙂

New invoicing - Edit exchange rate
It is currently not possible to change the exchange rate used in the new invoicing screen, when invoicing in a foreign currency. You have to switch back to classic invoicing to correct it to the monthly rate we have entered in settings.
108 votesHi team, we have recently released the ability to set the exchange rate within new invoicing for organisations that use multi-currency.
Just like classic, as soon as the invoice currency is changed to a currency other than the orgs base currency, the option to 'Set exchange rate' will appear which you can click to edit.
We know this is an important feature you've been waiting for in the new experience, and we're really keen for you to try it out and share any feedback you have back with us here. Thanks!

Repeating Invoices - Day/Date placeholder option
in Recurring invoices, placeholders are essential to accurate and meaningful descriptions. Placeholders seem to currently only offer Week, Month & Year but not ‘Day’ or [DATE] or [TODAY]. (with the usual +/- feature). This would be hugely helpful for recurring daily or weekly invoices or for communicating a relevant billing period on a Monthly invoice (that differs from calendar months or calendar weeks) without having to manually update the date in description of every Repeated invoice. Currently more work is required and ALL repeating invoices need manual intervention before approval whereas if this could be automated Bills…

Invoices - Bulk update Due Date
Ability to flag multiple invoices and update the due date.
Purpose: It saves users’ time to update the due date in bulk, especially when their customers have some special terms that can change the due date of invoices.
22 votesThanks for your feedback and support here, everyone. We appreciate how bulk update of the payment date of invoices will save you time and give more accurate cash flow projections.
As part of the latest enhancements with Xero Analytics our insights team have developed this capability within Short-term cashflows! - You can now update the expected payment date of 10x invoices at a time 😊 - See help on Xero Central for more detail

Invoicing - Add Payment details on invoice screen
When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.
342 votesHi everyone, to front foot some of the recent comments we will not be bringing back classic invoicing. With developments continuing within new invoicing, we do want to let you know that our product teams are highly engaged with your feedback and the ideas for new invoicing on the site.
We understand there's good interest in being able to add a payment directly from the invoice screen and appreciate the efficiencies expressed by customers in being able to do this. At present we're reviewing this feature and will move the idea across to Under Review. I'll be back to share more on the outcomes. Thanks

New invoicing - Ability to set 'days due' when sending invoice
An option to see how many 'days' due in preview section for the new version of invoicing
Could we have an option in xero please to select 'due 30 days' from when we approve/send an invoice ?
In the classic invoicing when you preview it (before approving and sending it) it would always say how many 'days' it is due as well as the 'due date' this helps as we expect payment within 30 days of the customer receiving the invoice not 30 days from the invoice date.7 votes -
New invoicing - View full account name
New Invoicing: Auto adjust the account column width (or wrap text) so that the full account name can be seen when creating an invoice in New Invoicing. Currently users have to click on the account within each line to see the full account name. In Classic invoicing the account box automatically adjusts so that the full account name can be seen.
62 votesOur new line item grid is now available! Thanks for sharing and supporting this idea for being able to see the full detail of your Account.
With this release, all fields within the grid will wrap so if the contents spill over more than 1 line you can still read the full account within the field. Along with this, our product team have optimised padding, font size and column width to improve visibility and reduce the need to scroll when viewing your invoices.

New invoicing - Enable ability to set a dynamic invoice date based on a fixed due date
I have invoices that have a fixed due date, e.g 4th of the month, and would like invoices to be generated, and dated, a fixed number of days (e.g. 7) before this.
WHen it's not near the end of the month then setting the invoice date and the due date to be 7 days after is fine. The issue arises when the invoice dates cross a month boundary as the varying number of days in the month makes this awkward. I either need to accept a movement in the due date or set the due date to…

New Invoicing - Ability to copy invoice to a quote
In Classic Invoicing, you could copy an invoice to all sorts of things: Invoice, Quote, Purchase Order, Bill. See first screenshot.
In New Invoicing, you can only copy an invoice to another draft invoice. See second screenshot.
Please can you replicate the 'Copy invoice to a quote' functionality in New Invoicing?59 votesHi everyone, coming back to share that this is now live. You'll find within the 3 dot menu of new invoicing there is now the option to 'Copy to draft quote' 😊Thanks again for your engagement here.
If you're also interested in the other 'copy to' options, join and follow updates for these through the ideas below.

New invoicing - Option to use Xero Network
xero to xero Invoicing
We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.
On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key). Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?
Thank you

Hi ChantelleAs you’ve found, there’s no functionality in New Invoicing…
210 votesHi community, we’ve been working hard to continue delivering valuable enhancements for our customers, and we know from your feedback being able to send via the Xero network from an invoice was important to how you invoice with Xero.
I’m pleased to share this feature is in the process of being released, currently with 50% of users we expect to have this in everyone’s hands soon.
Once available, when creating an invoice if you enter a Contact you’ve saved a Xero network key for you’ll see an option beneath the invoice appear ‘Send via Xero network’ (similar to when you send an eInvoice). As an addition, with the way we’ve rebuilt this feature you can now also include any attachments when sending the invoice. These'll be received on the draft bill created in your customers org! I’ll round back to confirm when this is live to everyone 🙂

New Invoicing - Invoice Contact Groups
Update new Invoicing to allow sending invoices to contact groups as you can in the classic invoicing. It's ridiculous that something so useful has been left behind in the switch to the new style. I need to be able to amend the invoices I send out based on the individual needs of the group. It saves so much time to be able to create a default set of drafts that I can amend rather than having to go to each individual and create an individual invoice within that group. Please guys, piull this across!
52 votesThanks for getting involved and sharing your interest for contact group invoicing, everyone. Our latest updated for new invoicing means you can now create a new invoice for a contact group! 😊
If you've still be using classic invoicing, switch to the new version first through the banner at the top, or link at the bottom of any invoice.
Next time, you create an invoice for a Contact group you'll be taken to enter the details for your group invoice, in new invoicing. We appreciate all your input and feedback through the idea here.

E-Invoicing - Setting the e-invoicing toggle button as default.
Could you please look at making the e-invoicing toggle button as default.
This will allow the invoices raised in Xero Practice Manager to be sent to Xero and then sent in Bulk (email multiple clients from awaiting payment) rather than selecting it manually. This will save a lot of time and also allow the other side to receive the invoice in their system.
Currently what it is doing is getting us to go into the invoice and then manually toggle this for clients we know are setup for e-invoicing. If this is handle automatically it will achieve…21 votes -
New Invoicing - Hide detailed summary on email
The new invoicing email sends a detailed summary of the invoice as part of the email. We would like the option to opt out for this like the old email template. We like to breakdown our invoicing internally for reporting purposes but the client does not need a breakdown of line items, just a total. We use custom invoicing templates so that we dont show line by line breakdown and the new email overrides this. Please do not switch off the old invoicing module until this is fixed. Downloading an invoice and sending it through my emails is time consuming…
159 votesHi everyone, we appreciate all the attention this idea has received and while I know this has been mentioned by others earlier in the conversation we wanted to confirm it is currently possible to remove the detailed summary from showing within the invoice email.
This is controlled within Email settings and updating your email templates for sales invoice.
If you open your template you'll see an option for 'Include action to online invoice and detailed summary'.
Having checked in with our team we have no plans for changing this flow in the short term, however this is a one time action so once you uncheck and save the template you'll find this removes this formatting from any invoices you send with the template applied.

Pre-Defined NET Payment Terms for Invoice Due Date
Most businesses use certain payment terms, like NET 30, NET 45, NET 60, NET 90 days. When invoicing businesses with different payment terms, there should be a faster way to calculate the due date, rather than asking Google "45 days from today" or "60 days from today" and entering that as the due date.
It would be great to create pre-defined NET payment terms as part of the Due Date dropdown in Invoices. That way it would instantly adjust the due date based on the payment term selected for that invoice.
Yes, there is a way to set…
6 votesHi team, while the pre-defined list of dates aren't selectable options, you can use the date entry shortcuts to quickly calculate the due date based on the Invoice date. For example to select 30 days from the invoice date you'd simple enter +30 or +30d in the due date field.
We have all the shortcuts listed in this Xero Central article

Sales invoices - Bulk date change
Could we have a bulk date change please for when we are ready to send a lot of draft invoices or any in awaiting approval (and in the repeating 'payment due date' section)
we rely on the repeating function but its a pain to go in and change them one at a time when there's loads, especially when they copy over into draft aswell, its a mammoth taski.e also an option for '30 days payment due upon receipt of invoice' 😃

New invoicing - zero balance invoice can't be saved
Xero, it is another shocking mistake in new invoicing. To do the job I had to switch to classic invoicing.
I had to correct a "GST on income" amount in the locked period. So, I had to record a zero-balance invoice. I hope that somebody in the production team does understand accounting and knows why this correction is done as a zero-balance invoice.
An error message popped up in new invoicing: Zero balance invoice can't be saved.
It is a joke, right!?
Please fix it as soon as possible.
71 votesHi team, thanks for all adding your interest and following the idea here. Our product team have recently taken a closer look over the root cause of the error users were receiving when trying to approve a 0.00 invoice with negative tax.
They've released a change that resolves this, so you should no longer receive an error when trying to approve invoices of this nature.
We appreciate the feedback raised on this through the idea. If you do run into any scenario where receive this error again, please raise a case with our specialists at Xero Support who can deep dive in with you to investigate.

E-Invoicing - PEPPOL Compliance
Ability to send invoices through PEPPOL network.
Purpose: To comply with the European standard of e-invoicing and e-ordering. Especially for those who deal with the public sector.
25 votesHi everyone, along with AU and NZ it is now possible to send approved invoices electronically through the Peppol network in the UK. 😊
We'll shift the idea back to submitted again with other regions interested in this feature and will let you know if there are any further plans made around this.
For those interested in the ability to bulk send eInvoices - we have a separate idea for this that you can join and follow.

New Invoicing - Option to switch Autosave off
I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?436 votesHi everyone, we appreciate and thank you for contributing to product ideas. The implementation of autosave in new invoicing originally came from feedback we received from our community - Many customers entering invoices, where their data could be lost if they closed the window or logged out of Xero accidentally.
With the move from classic to new invoicing in the past year we appreciate hearing more feedback on this feature from our community. There are differing points of impact that you’ve shared, and is all highly valuable information to our product teams.
However, to set a realistic expectation we want to be honest that we don’t have any planned work for removing auto save.
If you find something you suspect could be a bug and isn’t working correctly in autosave, we recommend raising this with our Support team via Xero Central and providing details - This way our team can…

New invoicing - show account column after saving
I've noticed in the new invoicing that the account column disappears when it is saved. While I don't want the account column shown on the actual invoice, I use this saved version in Xero to check that the correct account has been selected. I will not switch to new invoicing until this option is available as it would be extra time to edit the invoice to see which account was selected. Classic invoicing is a much better experience in my opinion.
69 votesThanks for staying tuned with us through the idea, here. As you may have seen when recently invoicing, we've released a new line item grid when the invoice is saved, and in view mode.
Along with other enhancements this encompasses moving details into their own columns including the Account column. We appreciate your feedback and sharing on how this change could improve the experience for you.

Invoicing - Approve and view next in sequential order
In the classic invoicing, when I am approving my invoices draft then I click "Approve and view next", it goes in the next invoice subsequent number.
In the new invoicing version, when I click on "Approve and view next", it goes directly to the last invoice number instead of the next one. I have a lot of drafts to approve and it has to be in the right order.
For this reason, I stay with the classing invoicing. I might consider switching back to new invoicing if this issue can be resolve in the future.
73 votesAppreciate your feedback on how you use invoicing and the benefit you find in being able to approve and view the next invoice in sequential invoice number order. As we continue to plan further developments within this space, our product teams would like to engage you all here to get a better sense of our invoicing users for future improvements. We’d find your feedback invaluable and if you’d be interested in sharing with us, please fill in our survey here.
