  1. An option to see how many 'days' due in preview section for the new version of invoicing

Could we have an option in xero please to select 'due 30 days' from when we approve/send an invoice ?
In the classic invoicing when you preview it (before approving and sending it) it would always say how many 'days' it is due as well as the 'due date' this helps as we expect payment within 30 days of the customer receiving the invoice not 30 days from the invoice date.

  2. Can the new invoicing template show address like the classic invoicing template does?
Classic invoicing - Shows company address and the person it is addressed to (Attention:) when viewing the invoicing from our end
New Invoice - Only shows the company name and to check if the address is correct and if the person it is addressed to is correct you have to click on Edit or download it as a pdf to verify it.
    Example Snapshots attached.

Hi team, with our latest updates to new invoicing you're now able to see your contacts address if they have one saved when viewing the invoice.

Appreciate the question around being able to edit the address and to confirm - you'll find in view mode you can click on the contact to view the contact card. If you'd like to edit the address click the small link in the top right of the contact card. This'll pop the contact open in a separate browser tab where you can edit and add a billing and/or delivery address. 🙂

  3. in Recurring invoices, placeholders are essential to accurate and meaningful descriptions. Placeholders seem to currently only offer Week, Month & Year but not ‘Day’ or [DATE] or [TODAY]. (with the usual +/- feature). This would be hugely helpful for recurring daily or weekly invoices or for communicating a relevant billing period on a Monthly invoice (that differs from calendar months or calendar weeks) without having to manually update the date in description of every Repeated invoice. Currently more work is required and ALL repeating invoices need manual intervention before approval whereas if this could be automated Bills…

  4. When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.

Hey everyone👋 Thanks so much for sharing all your feedback and keeping the conversation going here. We've been following along and considering changes around the process for adding payments in new invoicing.

As we mentioned in our last update, while we won’t be bringing classic invoicing back, we're taking a close look at what made it work so well for you. The ability to quickly enter payment information without leaving the invoice is a key part of that.

To address this, our product team is now working to reintroduce this functionality to the invoice page.

We can’t share a timeline just yet, but we want you to know that your comments have been a vital part of this process. We’ll be sure to post an update here as soon as we have more to share.🙂

  5. xero to xero Invoicing

We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.

On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key).

Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?

    Thank you

Hi everyone! Back to share that Xero to Xero is now live within invoicing. Thank you for all your valuable contributions and sharing in product ideas.

As mentioned in my last update, with the way that we've built this within invoicing we've been able to also enable the ability to include file attachments when sending via the network 😊

See more details on how to send via a single invoice, or multiple, on Xero Central.

Right now, this is live to all but Singapore organisations. We're still doing a bit of work to provide this capability to Singapore and I'll update again when available in this region.

  6. New Invoicing: Auto adjust the account column width (or wrap text) so that the full account name can be seen when creating an invoice in New Invoicing. Currently users have to click on the account within each line to see the full account name. In Classic invoicing the account box automatically adjusts so that the full account name can be seen.

Our new line item grid is now available! Thanks for sharing and supporting this idea for being able to see the full detail of your Account.

With this release, all fields within the grid will wrap so if the contents spill over more than 1 line you can still read the full account within the field. Along with this, our product team have optimised padding, font size and column width to improve visibility and reduce the need to scroll when viewing your invoices.

  7. I have invoices that have a fixed due date, e.g 4th of the month, and would like invoices to be generated, and dated, a fixed number of days (e.g. 7) before this.

WHen it's not near the end of the month then setting the invoice date and the due date to be 7 days after is fine. The issue arises when the invoice dates cross a month boundary as the varying number of days in the month makes this awkward. I either need to accept a movement in the due date or set the due date to…

  8. In Classic Invoicing, you could copy an invoice to all sorts of things: Invoice, Quote, Purchase Order, Bill. See first screenshot.
In New Invoicing, you can only copy an invoice to another draft invoice. See second screenshot.
Please can you replicate the 'Copy invoice to a quote' functionality in New Invoicing?

Hi everyone, coming back to share that this is now live. You'll find within the 3 dot menu of new invoicing there is now the option to 'Copy to draft quote' 😊Thanks again for your engagement here.

If you're also interested in the other 'copy to' options, join and follow updates for these through the ideas below.

  9. Ability to send invoices through PEPPOL network.

Purpose: To comply with the European standard of e-invoicing and e-ordering. Especially for those who deal with the public sector.

Hi team, we'd like to return with another update for everyone here. As mentioned in my last response our current support for Peppol eInvoicing in Xero extends to orgs in AU, NZ, UK, SG and MY.

We are still in discovery of development for UK orgs to send eInvoices to EU businesses and govt agencies - It is worth noting that right now the Belgian mandate does not impact UK suppliers to Belgian businesses.

That said, I am pleased to share that work for expanding Peppol to support other countries with regular Peppol support (including Belgium, Ireland and Malta) is already underway and expected to be live before December 2025. We will keep you updated of further news around this through the idea, here. Thanks!

  10. Update new Invoicing to allow sending invoices to contact groups as you can in the classic invoicing. It's ridiculous that something so useful has been left behind in the switch to the new style. I need to be able to amend the invoices I send out based on the individual needs of the group. It saves so much time to be able to create a default set of drafts that I can amend rather than having to go to each individual and create an individual invoice within that group. Please guys, piull this across!

Thanks for getting involved and sharing your interest for contact group invoicing, everyone. Our latest updated for new invoicing means you can now create a new invoice for a contact group! 😊

If you've still be using classic invoicing, switch to the new version first through the banner at the top, or link at the bottom of any invoice.

Next time, you create an invoice for a Contact group you'll be taken to enter the details for your group invoice, in new invoicing. We appreciate all your input and feedback through the idea here.

  11. The new invoicing email sends a detailed summary of the invoice as part of the email. We would like the option to opt out for this like the old email template. We like to breakdown our invoicing internally for reporting purposes but the client does not need a breakdown of line items, just a total. We use custom invoicing templates so that we dont show line by line breakdown and the new email overrides this. Please do not switch off the old invoicing module until this is fixed. Downloading an invoice and sending it through my emails is time consuming…

We’ll send you updates on this idea

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the attention this idea has received and while I know this has been mentioned by others earlier in the conversation we wanted to confirm it is currently possible to remove the detailed summary from showing within the invoice email.

This is controlled within Email settings and updating your email templates for sales invoice.

If you open your template you'll see an option for 'Include action to online invoice and detailed summary'.

Having checked in with our team we have no plans for changing this flow in the short term, however this is a one time action so once you uncheck and save the template you'll find this removes this formatting from any invoices you send with the template applied.

  12. Most businesses use certain payment terms, like NET 30, NET 45, NET 60, NET 90 days. When invoicing businesses with different payment terms, there should be a faster way to calculate the due date, rather than asking Google "45 days from today" or "60 days from today" and entering that as the due date.

It would be great to create pre-defined NET payment terms as part of the Due Date dropdown in Invoices. That way it would instantly adjust the due date based on the payment term selected for that invoice.

Yes, there is a way to set…

Hi team, while the pre-defined list of dates aren't selectable options, you can use the date entry shortcuts to quickly calculate the due date based on the Invoice date. For example to select 30 days from the invoice date you'd simple enter +30 or +30d in the due date field.

We have all the shortcuts listed in this Xero Central article

  13. Could we have a bulk date change please for when we are ready to send a lot of draft invoices or any in awaiting approval (and in the repeating 'payment due date' section)
we rely on the repeating function but its a pain to go in and change them one at a time when there's loads, especially when they copy over into draft aswell, its a mammoth task

i.e also an option for '30 days payment due upon receipt of invoice' 😃

  14. Xero, it is another shocking mistake in new invoicing. To do the job I had to switch to classic invoicing.

I had to correct a "GST on income" amount in the locked period. So, I had to record a zero-balance invoice. I hope that somebody in the production team does understand accounting and knows why this correction is done as a zero-balance invoice.

An error message popped up in new invoicing: Zero balance invoice can't be saved.

    It is a joke, right!?

Please fix it as soon as possible.

Hi team, thanks for all adding your interest and following the idea here. Our product team have recently taken a closer look over the root cause of the error users were receiving when trying to approve a 0.00 invoice with negative tax.

They've released a change that resolves this, so you should no longer receive an error when trying to approve invoices of this nature.

We appreciate the feedback raised on this through the idea. If you do run into any scenario where receive this error again, please raise a case with our specialists at Xero Support who can deep dive in with you to investigate.

Appreciate you all staying tuned into the idea with us here, everyone. We've made a recent update where you can now see the invoice number in the browser tab when viewing an invoice with new invoicing.

  16. Please remove the invoice amount from the "New Invoicing"

This should be optional for set templates like the classic invoicing where you could turn it off and on. It doesn't look great and prefer the older layout of the emails where you could control the layout more.

  17. In the classic invoicing, when I am approving my invoices draft then I click "Approve and view next", it goes in the next invoice subsequent number.

In the new invoicing version, when I click on "Approve and view next", it goes directly to the last invoice number instead of the next one. I have a lot of drafts to approve and it has to be in the right order.

For this reason, I stay with the classing invoicing. I might consider switching back to new invoicing if this issue can be resolve in the future.

Appreciate your feedback on how you use invoicing and the benefit you find in being able to approve and view the next invoice in sequential invoice number order. As we continue to plan further developments within this space, our product teams would like to engage you all here to get a better sense of our invoicing users for future improvements. We’d find your feedback invaluable and if you’d be interested in sharing with us, please fill in our survey here.

Appreciate the short videos and can see what you're saying, Chris - Have you raised a case with our Xero Support team about the slowness in loading?

Actual slowness in the page loading are issues that we'd like to dig into deeper as they aren't occurring for all users so it'd be good to be able to investigate one on one with our Xero Support team who can escalate if needed. Thanks

  19. I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

Hi community, as mentioned in my last post we want to keep you looped in on changes around autosave.

Our product team has continued to focus attention on how we can make invoicing faster and more responsive to improve our customers' experience.

We've now optimised autosave to require less processing power, leading to faster invoice loading and saving.

    While we don't have any plans to remove autosave, there is the possibility that we would make updates to improve experiences related to autosave in the future - I've provided links below to ideas that have been raised and remain open for consideration;

Thanks again for all your feedback and sharing with us in the forums here.

    Updated 10 Sept 25

  20. I've noticed in the new invoicing that the account column disappears when it is saved. While I don't want the account column shown on the actual invoice, I use this saved version in Xero to check that the correct account has been selected. I will not switch to new invoicing until this option is available as it would be extra time to edit the invoice to see which account was selected. Classic invoicing is a much better experience in my opinion.

Thanks for staying tuned with us through the idea, here. As you may have seen when recently invoicing, we've released a new line item grid when the invoice is saved, and in view mode.

Along with other enhancements this encompasses moving details into their own columns including the Account column. We appreciate your feedback and sharing on how this change could improve the experience for you.
